The property was perfect, it was beautiful to open the doors to the veranda and hear the river and birds, look at the trees and hills. The bed was very comfortable, loved the duvet and mattress. Also, the kitchen is well equipped for cooking (as said in advert, bring your own condiments) but plenty to cook with. TV, a few games and info books were also a lovely touch. Hosts were very efficient with instructions for arriving and leaving, plus left us to our own devices as we prefer.

I can only say the shower isn’t the greatest power and a little noise from the road, however earplugs are provided and the lodge is well insulated and sound proofed so you can barely hear neighbours come and go!

A great chalet for couples! Very clean and had everything you needed for the duration of your stay, and with some really nice touches to make it homely. The Hawthorn Lodge was beautifully situated on the river, only a 5-minute walk from Pucks Glen, which was an excellent walk taking in nature and the gorge, and not far from Benmore botanical garden. It was reassuring that our hosts were only a message away if we had any queries, and they promptly responded. Would definitely recommend and return there!

- Extremely cozy, almost romantic little lodge in a great location (short walk to Puck's Glen, short drive to Dunoon). - Bathroom is a bit of a squeeze for tall people, but works out fine. Kitchenette well equipped, rooms very clean. - Easy and friendly communication with the hosts.

- Lots of rules and safety measures (but maybe the hosts often had bad experiences?) - For this price, it might not have been necessary to clean the lodge when moving out?

Very Clean, warm, very cozy and very comfortable, ideal quiet location. Pucks Glen is magical. Beautiful scenery. Stephen and liz were very professional with all information needed provided and the welcome goodies hamper was a lovely touch. Plenty of eating places. Went to portavadie, bit of a drive but food at the marina was well worth it.

Little background traffic noise from road but very, very small, hardly worth mentioning to be honest. Doors a little creaky but nothing a bit wd40 won't sort.

The lodge was cosy and comfortable and absolutely spotless. We had everything we needed for a short weekend break and the wee welcome basket was a lovely touch. There was a log burning fire, but we didn't need it as the cabin was warm enough without it. We even had to open the French door at one point to let some of the heat out. The location is stunning, and the lodge is right on the river, which provides a lovely background noise. We even had a wee visit every morning from Rusty, the red squirrel which never failed to make us smile.

The cabin is a good size for a couple for a short break, but it is quite snug and would potentially become cumbersome for any longer.

The location and distance to travel were just right, as we were travelling by motorbike. Peaceful and very close to interesting walks and river noise was soothing. The use of a real fire was amazing. The bed was very comfortable, which was a delight.

Some road noise, although used to it at home, one early morning lorry, going a fair speed gave us a wee jolt. WiFi was a bit patchy. However, DVDs were available, and we added a couple to collection

Went for a writing retreat and was not disappointed! Cosy cabin and location, road traffic was few and far between so easy to forget about and the view was lovely. Plenty to do nearby too and a helpful guide is included in the cabin to keep your days busy. Log fire was delightful too

Only thing that slightly bothered me was a tarp and some boards by the bedroom window as it ruined the illusion of being in the wilderness but it was nothing worthy of complaining about to be honest

Beautiful location and close to places we were visiting such as Pucks Glen, Hunters Quay and Dunoon. Easy to find from the main road. Beautiful location by the river. Lodge was clean and beautifully decorated. It was very comfortable and cosy. Great communication from owners. We hope to stay again soon!

Only thing would be that bigger towels would be nice other then that everything was fantastic.

Lovely location, lots of great walks nearby, peaceful riverside garden. Log burner was great although we hadn't brought matches so had to pop out to get those, the cabin was very warm and cosy with the fire going 🔥. Great little weekend escape.

We hadn't thought to bring some cooking basics (oil, salt, pepper etc) so had to go out to get these as well as something to light the fire with. No real fault with this but worth highlighting to others planning to stay!

The lodge is in a beautiful location, red squirrels in the garden and many fabulous birds visiting the bird table. It was really cosy, well equipped with everything we needed and more. The hosts were great, very quick to respond to questions I had and to add an extra night, and were very friendly and efficient with great local knowledge of things to do and places to go.Very close to a good shop at the garage down the road and only about 15mins to the supermarkets in Dunoon.I would definitely recommend a lovely quiet stay there.
