From the moment of arrival, i was greeted by Paul who had a big smile, they knew who i was, very friendly and helpful. booked us in for breakfast the next day and then Showed me to my room. The room was immaculate, very nicely furnished, massive shower/bathroom. BEST mattresse ive ever slept on. When we went downstairs for breakfast the next day we were again greeted with a smile. Table had fresh orange, when i say fresh, i mean probably freshly squeezed that morning. My Wife had eggs benedict in which they were generous on the portion size, i had a full English, again very generous on the portion size. Breakfast came out fast and was amazing, checked out just before 11am. After paying spoke was wished a safe journey home and a handshake. 10/10 visit.

Nothing, my stay and the facilities were perfect

Another fabulous weekend stay at the Anchor. Paul was the perfect host again during my second visit to their guest house. If you seek comfortable bed in clean establishment with fantastic breakfast choices and a host who will go beyond the extra mile to enhance your stay stop searching right now because you have found it. As for value for money which is so important to everyone in these times and as for my that old adage " if it is too good to be true ect" the Anchor has re written the ending and most definitely bucks that trend as well. Thanks Anchor Tommy

There's honestly nothing not to like. No! I'm not related to the Hosts. No I have absolutely no conflict of interest. I'm simply a traveler like you plus a tiny disability who was discreetly take care of.

warm friendly welcome from host, plenty of off street parking. Personally taken to our room when we booked in. Room modern, clean and comfy with everything you would need. The room smelt of fresh linen, which was wonderful. Room had, kettle, tea coffee biscuit and bottled water and a small fridge. I loved the fact that there was plenty of space in the room and it had 2 comfy chairs so we could both relax. Bath room was well designed, clean and plenty of towels. Breakfast (included in price) was first class. Fresh fruit and a choice of cearls, Fruit juice and milk on table. They would cater for dairy alternatives if asked in advance. We had perfectly cooked poached eggs and only wish we could have sampled the full English, well we will try that next time and I am sure we will visit again.

The road was a bit noisy as we are used to quiet countryside but we knew that before we booked so not too much of a negative. It was quiet during the night so we did sleep well.

The room was clean and comfortable. TV worked. Other reviews mentioned a lack of storage for clothes but seeing as we were just on a 3 day visit this wasn't a problem. The breakfasts were really good and set us up for the day. The B&B itself is situated in a good location with easy access to the coast and the AONB too.

Can't really fault the B&B. If I had to mention anything it would be that the car park was smaller than it might usually be due to scaffolding and roof tiles but presume that's just a temporary situation. In terms of Alford itself, we discovered there weren't many places to eat out. I guess our visit was still out of season in early May. The pubs didn't seem to have much of a food offering and if you like real ale then the Windmill Inn seemed to be the only place offering anything like on tap beer. Other pubs were due to open for food but were currently being refurbished.

5 guys in a cycling group, we stopped over at Anchor House and it was very comfortable and clean and the breakfast was outstanding. But the standout was Paul who hosted us (and his mrs, who i'm sure behind the scenes is the engine driver :) ). Very personable, funny and extremely welcoming, couldn't do enough for us and even offered to drive us to a restaurant out of town as we couldn't get a taxi. Top place, top team, thank you for hosting us.

the town was lacking a bit of life

A very warm and jovial welcome from Paul and Nicky. Everywhere was spotless, comfortable and good quality. The breakfast was fantastic, good variety and quality products.

Can't fault the B&B. Have to mention we were a little disappointed with Alford the village. Have visited Alford since the 1960s and the decline recently is notable. Very few places to go to eat. One pub which advertises that it serves food, on the evening we asked we were told that there was no food as "he's having a few days off".

The property is very clean and looks recently decorated. There is a kettle in the rooms with tea, coffee, hot chocolate, bottled water and biscuits all provided. We stayed in the family room which had a large walk in shower, a double bed and single bed which were extremely comfortable to sleep in. For breakfast were a choice of hot options which were served to the table and also you could help yourself to cereal, yogurt & fruit. The full English breakfast was delicious.

Nothing!

Paul is a fabulous host with a great sense of humour and most certainly would go out of his way to make sure that you are catering for. Clean and comfortable place to spend some time. All this at fabulous price and none of that annoying, in your face stuff and so peaceful also Paul is indeed the breakfast king in disguise and sets you up for the day with a perfectly cooked full English made to your liking with top quality ingredients. Paul give yourself a pat on the back ( on second thoughts don't, you'll only pull a muscle or summit 😂 best you warm up first 🤣🤣🤣 ) Cheers Paul for a lovely weekend at the Anchor house. I shall certainly be booking again next time I visit the area. Tommy Tremor 🥊

Tea Coffee Council house pop But only because I'm an old F.B. and the offer was made to supply me with my favourite caffeinated sugar loaded beverage. A rather long way of saying that there was nothing I didn't like, which why I'd be the most annoying in your face host you have ever slapped 🤣. And people like Paul are so successful in what they do I fink.

What a little gem, The owners cannot do enough for you. The room and guest house is spotless and the bed was the most comfortable I have stayed in, and I stay away a lot. I could not make breakfast the first day so Nicky made me a pack lunch instead which was most appreciated. The breakfast the second day was lovely with all local produce. Parking for my horse box too! Fresh milk in a mini fridge too.

The towels were a bit small but did the job.

Has a very homely feeling. Rooms very spacious and decor beautiful. My husband said is breakfast was top draw, I am not eating very well at the moment due to being on chemotherapy. Nicky and Paul accommodated for me with that. Fantastic hosts, very friendly. Like I said earlier home from home feel. Would definitely stay again.

There wasn't anything we did not like. A****
