The single room was very comfortable and had everything I needed, The hospitality tray was good with nice biscuits and fresh milk in the fridge.Breakfast was excellent with fresh fruit, delicious scrambled eggs and salmon and another day bacon sandwich. There was fruit yoghurt on request. Dinner was good although the belly pork was somewhat dry and although very meaty and substantial didnt have the usual delicious fatty layer that is so tasty with belly pork- I ordered more gravy which was happily supplied and helped the dryness.
I expressed concern that my bedroom door was left unlocked and ajar by the cleaning staff when I returned late at night.. It is a safe area and the room had an outer door but it was of concern in a pub.

This is an old building, full of character, beautiful wooden staircase, sash windows, stone floor in places, popular with the locals dropping in for a pint whilst out walking the dogs. We arrived on a typical November afternoon and sat in the bar with drinks and snacks until everyone in the party arrived. I checked everyone in and dished out the keys then we went to our rooms. I had booked a deluxe double that was actually big enough for everyone in our party (10) to gather in for our Christmas present exchange. The bathrooms in every room were wonderful equipped with large bath and waterfall showers. Everything spotlessly clean. Beds comfortable. Tea and coffee making facilities with real milk in a little bottle and lovely shortbread. My elderly mother had a courtyard room which saved climbing stairs. It was very well designed with everything that you needed with an added bonus of a small but private patio with chairs and table, very nice for a summer stay. We ate in the restaurant in the evening and the food was really good, I am vegetarian and there were a few different choices on the menu.
There was nothing that we did not like, even my other half who can usually find something wrong had nothing to moan about.

Room: very clean and comfortable. We had booked a 'deluxe' room and I didn't think that it quite measured up to that description. Nonetheless very satisfactory. Food: Excellent throughout. Fabulous dinner and very tasty breakfast. Staff cheerful and helpful. I would have given the staff full marks except that on arrival we were not offered any help to get our luggage up stairs to our room.
Nothing to dislike. A quibble that for a de luxe room there could have been more space in the bathroom to lay out things like shaving kit, toothbrushes etc.

Easy access from the M5. Good combination of traditional pub with good Restaraunt & comfortable rooms. A lovely outside courtyard garden. Excellent food & exceptionally large portions. A really good choice of menu & daily ‘specials’. Breakfast again was excellent. We stayed in a room off the car park with a large shower cubicle & small outside patio. Really good value for money.
It’s not really a ‘moan’ but it would be have been nice to have had 2 chairs in the room. Also thought needs to be given to paving the access to the outside rooms as it is uneven & also very dirty when the weather is bad.

Food was excellent. We had stopped for lunch by chance a couple of years ago on the way North from a break in Dorset, and it felt a good place for a break. We wanted to visit Westonbirt & Slimbridge, both of which are a short drive away. So a couple of nights break seemed a good plan. Staff were courteous and helpful ,throughout, and there was a good choice for breakfast. We had evening meals on both nights and meals were excellent. I can guarantee you won't have seen the black vanilla ice cream before. but my wife assured me it was delicious. Would be very happy to return.
Minor inconveniences. Either the bedside lights or the main light and wall lights = couldn't just turn on the wall lights, and I could not work out how to set the clock. I was quite happy as I had the technology, but someone had left their watch on the charger at home... Ideal for a short break.

We stayed in the suite, and it was lovely, spacious and clean. The little touches of having gowns and slippers were unexpected, also the tea coffee making area with the bottle of milk were great. I would like to also point out that the bathroom was outstanding, again, spacious and very clean. We booked for dinner which was fantastic, huge range on the menu and good portion sizes. Breakfast was also great. The staff were polite and attentive, they seemed happy to be there which is lovely. Well done everyone, we will be back to stay again.
The only comment I have is that I could hear a chap snoring in the next room all night, we could also hear them talking, walking around, them using their bathroom, so maybe some sound proofing between room 9-10 could be a solution.

Very easy access on the ground floor. A good car park, easy access to the Frocester Arms and dining restaurant. We enjoyed an excellent evening meal and full English breakfast. The wet room En suite was designed for the disabled and had good facilities. The staff were extremely welcoming and helpful.
The disabled facilities in the en-suite meant that for able bodied people the sink was very low whereas the toilet was very high. There was little hanging space. The green light which shone all night was a little off putting.

Easy place to find not far from the motorway. They have plenty of parking on site with a lovely view of the church and access to it from the carpark. They have a beer garden with plenty of seating, 2 bar areas and a decent size restaurant. We received a warm and friendly welcome as soon as we walked through the door even though i had just got off a motorbike and looked like i had been dragged through a hedge backwards. The locals are great and I enjoyed chatting to them. We had a large room overlooking the beer garden. The bed was very comfortable but it was a very hot night and the room was extremely hot. They did have a fan in the room but sadly it didn't make much difference but don't let this put you off, how many hot nights do we really get in the UK? The room had tea, coffee with fresh milk in the fridge and some amazing shortbread biscuits. There was a safe in the room, bathrobes and really nice shampoo and conditioner in the bathroom. Everything you needed was there. The bedroom and bathroom were spotless as was the rest of the hotel. We had a table booked in the restaurant but was given the option of eating in there or the bar area. We decided to eat in the bar area as it was the same menu. The food and service gets a 10/10 from both of us it was that good. The steak was so juicy and cooked just how i like it. My partner had the steak and ale pie but with chips. We just knew breakfast was going to be good and it was. Everything cooked to order and red hot. There was fresh juices and fresh fruit along with the normal things you could expect for breakfast. This was a good find and broke our journey up as it was halfway. It was only by chance i found it but glad i did. We will be staying here again when we are travelling to or from Plymouth for the ferry. At least we know we wont be let down and the food and service is going to be great. Even the cleaners at the hotel were lovely to chat to and do an amazing job.
Everything was great apart from the heat but not the hotels fault. They did provide you with bottled water which was in the fridge in the room and a fan in the room. I think maybe our room might have had the sun on it all day but if that’s the case then maybe they could put blinds up at the window to keep the sun off the room.

The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The bed was comfortable and the pillows.were great. Lovely walk in shower, plenty of toiletries. Tea & coffee making facilities. Fresh milk in the fridge and bottles of water. The breakfast was superb. I had the full English with a poached egg, which was perfectly cooked. All the ingredients were freshly cooked and plentiful. The bread was made on the premises. The staff were friendly, the lovely young lady who served us breakfast was nice and very helpful. All in all it was a great overnight stay. Well worth the money.
There was nothing not too like.great

This is a great place to stay. Friendly staff, great food. Comfortable rooms with very good tea, coffee facilities, and fresh milk in the fridge. This is the 2nd time we have stayed here on our way back home from getting off the ferry in Plymouth. We wasnt the only 1s staying here after the ferry trip back from Spain. It's not far off the motorway, so you're not going too far out of your way. We would stay here again but in a different room due to the noise of the traffic. The bedroom window wouldn't close fully, so that didn't help. We only spotted that in the morning, though.
Traffic noise. Secondary glazing would help.
