Good breakfast options, very well cooked too. The service and staff was excellent and very friendly. Great for those with dogs in tow. Good range of beers, wines and spirits. Food options were good. Fish and chips were superb (although no mushy peas!). Communal areas were quite pleasant. Great for walking (if you don't mind hills). I did like the fact that the locals allowed cows and indeed bulls to roam freely around the village. Literally you could walk out of the door into a throng of cattle (watch out for droppings!)

May have just been a one off but wife ordered Sirloin steak medium to well done. Very strange offering of piece of meat that was probably steak, but appeared to be boiled or microwaved? She returned the meal and just went for dessert. The location isn't the most accessible and you are a bit of a captive audience as there is only one other establishment in the village serving food which wasn't to our taste. It is possible to get into Stroud if you drive but I wasn't aware of anywhere else within walking distance. Room was comfortable enough but the decor and furnishings were quite dated.

The location is fabulous. All of the staff were really friendly and couldn't do enough for us especially the two young lads. They work really hard. The room was comfortable although a bit unloved. The bathroom was spacious and clean. We had a room in the garden cottage which was exceptionally quiet and with the very comfy bed we had a good nights sleep. Parking was ok considering there aren't loads of spaces We ate there both nights and the food was delicious and plentiful. It is reasonably priced too.

Like all the hotels, B & B's and holiday homes nowadays they all use cheap thin loo paper!!

Beautiful location and lovely feel to the place both inside and out, the staff are really friendly and accommodating too. Rooms are very good sizes, would definitely stay again

Nothing that would put me off staying here again, a better vanity mirror near natural light would have been helpful, if you're a light sleeper the building is old and has lovely old windows they just don't keep sound out so I could hear the odd car passing and the birds tweeting, not an issue for me as I'm an earlier riser. Parking directly outside was not always available.

This place is a gem. Beautiful location with walks on the common nearby. Easy access to other places if required. Great parking and is free. Staff are really friendly and helpful from bar to cleaner to food server etc. The food is beautiful- Hungarian goulash and sandwiches at lunch are gorgeous. Beds are really comfortable. We were upgraded to a premier room in the hotel itself with our dog and it was wonderful. Great view, large room, great facilities. Fantastic wine list and a well stocked bar. Overall this place is fantastic and I will be back here again- thanks for a great stay to all at the Amberley Inn.

The shower was lovely and hot but pressure there a little low. Had a large goats cheese salad which was gorgeous but not enough for me so had to also have a cheeseboard and more wine!!

Just has to be the location. Beautifully peaceful relaxing area to be in. wonderful views located at the top of the hill. welcoming staff, particularly the young staff members running the bar. Beautiful home-cooked food with the omelettes highly recommended. you had to be patient as the orders took a while to get to your table, but we’ll worth the wait. Good things take time.

The water pressure a bit lacking so would recommend running a bath rather than taking a shower. The owners are aware of the problem & I’m sure that in time that will be fixed.

Breakfast was exceptional with plenty of choice and good sized portions. Food for our evening meals was also very nice with plenty of choice. Our room was spacious, clean, comfortable and well equipped.

The only small criticism is that although there was plenty of space in the bedroom and storage space in the wardrobe, there was a need for hooks on the bedroom and bathroom doors to hang a bathrobe or coat. Also, very little shelf space in the bathroom.

Very friendly & helpful staff, nice food, very nice historic inn & surroundings. Good location for touring the southern Cotswolds. Relaxed atmosphere.

Breakfast finished at 9am. Our twin room needed updating, including the bathroom; also two steep flights of stairs to access. There was no proper shower & using the bath attachment was tricky with the sloping ceiling in the attic room. Note that I believe the other rooms are generally to a better standard.

All staff were friendly and helpful. The best service we have had in a long time. The food at breakfast and the evening meals were very good quality and cooked to perfection. Great centre for our walking/ sightseeing holiday. The bed was so comfortable, I slept like log. Tea, coffee and biscuits were in plentiful supply and topped up.

The shower had water pressure problems which made it tricky to use. I had a bath instead which was fine. The bathroom was tired and needs some tlc. There was mold on the window frame which needs to be cleared

Lovely location and building. The staff were friendly on arrival and check in was easy. We ate dinner there in the evening and the girl working was phenomenal making sure everyone was happy and everything was in order. Breakfast in the morning was delicious with lots of choice and again good service. The cows walking up the road and past the window was an added bonus.

The bathroom was a little tricky. With the reduced height ceiling and with the shower in the bath it was a little awkward.

Breakfast and dinner was more than plenty and unhurried. Plenty of walks over the common. Reasonable parking but could be precarious when crossing the road to it. Nice views. Pleasant staff.

Not being in the main building but in a cottage flat at the rear. We are 70 plus years old and the double staircase to the room was very narrow and steep. The room had very low sloping ceilings which meant one had to crouch down to move around. There was no maid service, but on enquiring we were informed that they would service the room if required. Exiting the bathroom to the bedroom via a passage there was a small step which wasn't very visible in the dark. In the bathroom there was a large bath with a telephone shower but no way of securing the shower to a wall and no shower curtain.also no wardrobe.
