Lovely lovely stay, lovely room and evening meal. Would definitely recommend and return.

Difficult to say it’s something we didn’t like but it’s something which struck us. A very young team when we were there, somewhat off-hand but not rude, and we felt they overlooked the importance of the customer by focusing on laughs and chats between themselves, whilst the customer was waiting. When bread had run out at breakfast, it was a fair accompli rather than an apology. That said, we’d still go back, we just thought it was important to highlight.

Lovely place to stay in a gorgeous village with plenty to see within walking distance. The staff were extremely pleasant and the bonus for us was the quiz night in the bar, which was great fun (although we did come last!!)

The bed was a little too soft for us and a bit creaky. We could hear people in the room above, but this is to be expected in such an old building. None of this would stop us staying at The George again.

Full of character, very clean, friendly staff, great food, beautiful village setting with its own castle, great location for visits around the area

Our room was very small and the shower also was too small for adults really with a high step in and out of it. The beds were very soft. I think we were in the smallest room, other rooms are much bigger but weren’t available when we booked.

Lovely room overlooking the castle, Only pub in the village . Breakfast superb selection, for example, I had smoked salmon and cream cheese omelette. We also took our evening meals there. Again delicious choice, well cooked and presented. This is a very old building and the floors were very up and down in the bedroom so interesting to walk on, not a complaint, just observation of its old character.

Only fault was, there was no plug to the bathroom washbasin. The staff were immediately on it when I asked and produced a plug. Unfortunately, it was too big. Didn't like the over bath shower, it was so powerful it jumped off the tiny hook and swamped everything. Prefer a step in shower or, if over the bath, a higher, fixed hook for the shower head so I can use both hands. Ok for two nights. Well, it was room 13.

The stand out thing was the helpful nature of the staff

I suppose it did not help that we choose two of the hottest days of the year to visit. We were on the top floor but we were supplied with two fans. On arrival the wifi was not particularly good and the television was not working correctly. On drawing this to the staffs attention someone immediately fixed the television and alternate wifi offered. It was still not fastest but this was probably due to nature of building and our location in it. WE had probably paid insufficient attention when we booked but we had a bath and not a shower. Although a change of rooms was not possible an adjacent room had a separate bathroom with shower and we were given access to this.

Clean, nice staff, good breakfast and nice location. I loved the view on the little river and castle that our room had. The b&b is also a restaurant and a pub

I believe the price was high for the room we had (which was very clean and tidy but small) and considering the location of the b&b itself (which is in a very small village in the middle of the countryside in Somerset). Coronation weekend might have affected the price

The location was perfect for our requirements and the ambiance of the pub was welcoming. Nicely decorated and lots of space, the staff were friendly and we did eat in the restaurant that evening. Breakfast was amazing and set us up for the day. The village is worth a walk around as the castle was a pleasant surprise!

The shower riser was broken, was a bit noisy but this reflects the fact your staying in a pub!

We liked everything about the hotel.Our room was spotless and beautifully arranged with lovely towels and bathing products.A special mention of Natalie who does the housekeeping,it was faultless.All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful.We ate breakfast,lunch and dinner in the George and every meal was delicious and beautifully cooked. A gorgeous village and amazing weather made our stay perfect. We’ve already booked to return.

Just a small thing Our kettle flex wasn’t long enough to reach the plug point.

Excellent full English breakfast included in the booking price. Great picturesque location, 50 yards away from a superb Castle ruin with water filled moat. Quaint stone cottages, ducks in the river plus open-air bar opposite the hotel for a nice pint after our dog walk.

A quieter room would have been ideal. We were over the main kitchen so it was very warm & noisy before mealtimes. We had a pet-friendly room which was lovely.

The team at the George were incredibly friend and couldn’t do enough for you

It’s not that this is a dislike more a consideration. Is that breakfast starts earlier. I travel for work a lot and love to find hidden gems and the George was one. Absolutely loved everything about our stay other than breakfast started at 8 instead of earlier so we couldn’t enjoy what I sure would have a been a lovely breakfast. But the team made sure we had food to take with us on our check out
