So many positives to list; I was a solo guest for work. Excellent Wi-Fi, with great BT connection all through the establishment. Excellent, locally sourced meat for dinner and breakfast, cooked to a very high standard. All fresh produce, even including freshly pressed coffee! Lovely house wine; clean, crisp lager on tap & delightful staff. Usually stop-overs are bland, but if ever I was travelling through for work again, I would welcome another stay here.
If I was being absolutely pedantic, I would have preferred a chair, rather than a stool, sitting at a desk in my room, but it certainly made do for circa 2 hours work that was needed. Take nothing away from the overall experience.

The breakfast was wonderful ingredients cooked with the same love and skill as the excellent dinners, We had amazing vegetables with our evening meals - including the best cauliflower cheese ever. The chicken liver pate and the mushroom crepe in blue cheese sauce were amazing and Anne's Steak & Kidney pudding was scrumptious. The bar is like stepping back in time, a totally genuine snug, lovingly looked after by Tom. I am so so glad we chose to stay there.

The breakfast and evening meal were as good as you can get particularly as the owners indicated that they were 'short of staff'. Nothing was too much trouble and the staff were great. The very modern Bedroom and Dining areas were spacious and gave spectacular view. The whole experience was delightful and a surprise to enjoy the very rural area of Bruton. The visit to Alfreds Tower which was seen on a distant hill was well worth a visit.
Nothing at all could have improved our visit

Friendly, comfortable great setting, great food. Lovely old bar and super modern dining area with fabulous view. Beds were very comfortable and room was clean and spacious. Plenty of parking and within east reach of several interesting places by car.
Nearly everything was superb. More bigger thicker towels would have been the icing on the cake. Some light switches and sockets were hard to access. Those were minor things . Overall superb.

Breakfast was excellent. It was a lovely home cooked breakfast with quality components, so much better than the typical big hotel buffet. Rooms were clean, spacious and comfortable. The en-suite was modern and had a decent shower. The food was all home cooked and I enjoyed a pleasant evening meal here too. Nice but small choice of draught beers including a delicious local brew. I hope to come back here another time.

My room was good - very comfortable bed with crisp white bedlinen. My evening meal was exceptionally good with a great selection of fresh vegetables - the cauliflower cheese was a lovely surprise. Breakfast too was very good. The views from the dining room were impressive. Had the weather been better it would have been nice to sit out on the terrace.
In an ideal world (for me at least!) it would have been closer to the centre of Bruton.

Fabulous views from bedrooms and dining room. Food was homemade and very enjoyable. Breakfast was very good. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Location was very good for visiting the area…..we went to Castle Cary, Bruton and Stourhead in just two days. Plenty more to do if we come back!
Headboards were very creaky and noisy!

The view from the bedroom and breakfast room was amazing. Room was basic but fine. Very clean. Staff at breakfast (a neighbour helping out..) was really lovely. Friendly and chatty. Bit further from Bruton than we had thought. We liked it. Would recommend for a one nighter for sure.
Looked a bit rough from outside on approach. But that was soon forgotten. Room needed full length mirror. And plugs by beds.

This hotel is a hidden gem in the countryside! I have travelled and worked in Somerset for six years and have only just discovered the Old Red Lion. Great bar with real ale and fine wines. Very friendly host and locals. Good home cooked food for dinner. All fresh and great value. Very comfortable room. Excellent full English breakfast. Many thanks to Tom and Anne.
No concerns at all.

The hospitality was excellent. Friendly staff, clean and spacious room with a spectacular view. I had a good nights sleep, woke up refreshed, showered and had a really nice full English breakfast in a room with big windows and that wonderful view.. The grounds are well maintained and there are some ducks that seem to live there. If I am in the area I will definately stay there again.
It was all good.
