I chose a room with no windows and it was in perfect darkness during the night. I have not had such a good night sleep like this for almost a year. Really liked it. The receptionist was really kind and helpful as well. She also informed she could help upgrade the room as well but I insisted on staying in the booked room with no windows as I would like to have a good night sleep.

The size of the room with no windows was significantly smaller than another room with windows that I booked last year. I thought there would not be significant difference, but it was to the point of making me felt a bit uncomfortable. Well, it's my own choice and in the end I did not regret choosing the room without windows though. I would still prefer the same even in the future as well. This is just as an information in case someone is wondering or making decisions and would like to know the difference in sizes between the two rooms.

We needed somewhere last minute due to issues with flat keys, I’d booked room on route, arrived and explained to staff we were stuck and asked if they could hold baggage for us till check in. The staff got a room ready and allowed us to check into room early and were very accommodating. Made a disaster so much easier. Hotel’s excellent location for train station.

Small rooms/noisy air conditioning unit. But for the price can’t complain

Small space arranged to feel spacious! As a solo traveler there who worked from the room remotely part of the time I was in it a lot. Never felt cramped up. When I arrived I was greeted with such friendliness. Because I originally said I would be working remotely on a laptop from the location I needed to know I would not have a challenge with Wi-Fi. They set me up in a room closest to the router and asked I let them know if there was any issue immediately. I was able to work with zero interruption. Which meant the second half of my trip and mornings at the location could be spent exploring as planned! Location was phenomenal -. Right at George Square, with restaurants, shopping, pubs, museums, Cathedral, and all transportation connections right outside the door. Hop on Hop Off bus right there, too. Timberbush Tours has great tours outside the city and they leave from only 7 min walk away. And the staff...everyone I met was friendly, courteous and seemed to enjoy being there. On a 2 month journey in UK & Dublin, Z Hotel (and Glasgow) wins my too 5 star rating!

What's not to like?!

Having stayed there previously I was genuinely expecting a room with no windows again but was delighted to find I had one. The location was good for me because I needed to be near the station to get easily back & forth to Edinburgh for the Fringe. The bed was ample and comfortable and the en suite facilities excellent, although the ceiling lights were badly placed for using the wash basin mirror for shaving. The continental breakfast was very good & the fact that there was a toaster available.

My only negatives on the room were the lack of instructions there for how to use the tv and air con, the latter being very necessary because one couldn't open the window (Safety reasons?) and the room was very warm. Probably my worst complaint would be for the quality of the fried breakfast which was appalling. Luckily the alternatives were excellent in terms of fruit and yoghurt, cereals, pastries and toast. The coffee was rather nondescript but drinkable.

A bigger room than I had expected as I was upgraded due to staying for 5 nights. The location next to Queen Street Station incredibly convenient for me. I felt safe and secure as there is 24 hour reception. My room was serviced daily and my supplies of beverages and shower gel / shampoo replenished. Air conditioning responsive and worked well to have room at required temperature. A television that was simple to use.

There was a small door that possibly led to a venting system on the roof. Unfortunately it made a noise which was particularly noticeable at night and I had to push some folded paper between the door and the frame to hold it in place and stop the noise from keeping me awake. I think it was noticeable when the wind was easterly.

The location was excellent, the staff were just superb and couldn't have been more helpful. I mistakenly left my keys in the room on checkout, and the staff couldn't have been more accommodating in getting them to me. A 5-minute walk from Airport Express Bus Pickup. Finally a fantastic location beside a lovely square.

I rarely say this, but I actually like it all and was completely surprised by the value for money, the location and such fantastic staff. One thing travellers notice that isn't often mentioned is how staff interact with each other. There seemed to be a real team effort and respect between staff that shone through to customers.

The hotel was very clean, modern, the rooms were comfortable and very nice. I have MS and I am quite disabled the staff went out of their way to be kind, helpful and friendly, I spent quite a bit of time in the reception area where the cafe bar was also situated so I saw first hand how the staff treat all guests which again was very friendly and helpful. I would like to say a special thank you to Maz who went over and beyond her duties to make my stay easier. Also I liked the fact that the manager was always nearby in view rather than hiding away in an office somewhere. The location was excellent 5mins walk into town so near but not near enough to hear any noise.

The only thing I could say is that I was in a double room which was great as I was travelling alone but not sure how I would have felt if there had of been two of us in there it may have felt a bit cramped.

It is located an excellent location with in George square. I am very much grateful to the staffs who did not cancelled my booking even after I could not pay the booking money from my country Bangladesh. The staffs are very friendly, they shifted me in good room where window is there. I recommend the hotel authority please do include breakfast during booking. if i do visit nest time to Scotland hopefully i shall stay again that The Z hotel. Thanks a lot for to booking com for allowing me to feed back of my stay.

The hotel was in an excellent location right downtown off the main square and only a block from the train station. The room was very modern and comfortable with a big window looking over the street below. Check in and out was easy and staff were very helpful and friendly. We were able to leave our luggage after check out before we caught our train later in the day. We were also very thankful for the elevator up to our 2nd floor room!

Very minor thing - The sink in the bathroom is very small with a very short faucet, so it was hard not getting water everywhere when washing our hands!

Reception staff were very pleasant and the lobby was nice. Didnt have the complementary breakfast but I liked that it was there. Reception was manned 24 hours a day and I could come and go as needed. My room was near enough pin drop silent and just the right size for one person for a a one night stay. The room had a nice feeling to it. Not super ambient but nice. Appreciated the toiletries/kettle/towels provided. And the bag storage after I checked out. Great value for money in the city centre if you're by yourself. Great location near the bus and train stations.

I didnt need to use the toilet but being in the same room as the bed might potentially be unpleasant. I cant remember how high up the frosted glass divider went between the bed and bathroom bit so it might not be a problem. Nothing else I didnt like that wouldnt be down to personal taste. Mind you I should have asked whether firm pillows were available. Wasnt a problem for me but my room listed as 2 person suitable was definitely better fit for one or youd be dancing round eachother all the time. If I had somebody else with me I'd see if there were bigger rooms than the one I had.
