The staff were very helpful and friendly, the breakfast server was very jolly which was nice to see, and the breakfast was excellent, with plenty of breakfast beverages, tea/coffee, juice, etc. The room was lovely, with historic decor, beams, partial stone wall, and classic looking. The landing and rooms have interesting Tarzan wall art.
It's not a dislike per se, I prefer a shower to a bath and there was a bath, not a shower, which may be important if you are considering a booking. The water temperature was warm/tepid, not a huge problem, but something to consider.

Great location and in a pretty village with nice buildings. Church and Castle are in walking distance. Good cooked english breakfast.
The barman was very unhelpful when I ordered a pint of real ale which was substandard: or more probably mislabled. He tried it at my request, but said he did not appreciate real ales. There was no offer to ammend this situation which is my experience on occassions when real ale is not up to expectations. If the beer was new to me i would have asked to taste it first, but it should have been a well know national award winning beer that I have drunk on many occasions. A disappointing start to an otherwise pleasant stay! The other staff were very helpful and pleasant.

Location was fantastic in a beautiful village, loads of walks around the village then back to the pub for a couple of pints and a superb dinner, lt was great staying on the edge of thr lake district 14 miles north of Keswick rather than in centres where you can't move for tourists. All in all l would highly recommend staying at the Boot and Shoe Inn. Luvly jubly...
Nothing....... l loved this place....

A very friendly pub with great staff. Our room was comfortable with a huge bed and a large walk-in shower which was fabulous. We ate there on the evening and the food was very good, to be recommended. The breakfast the following morning was excellent.
We were only staying the one night which was a Saturday and very busy, but the place was quite noisy as our room was the first one up the stairs and also over the bar. In the room there was only a bedside table with a lamp on one side of the bed, nothing on the other side so nowhere to put anything apart from the floor.

Staff were fabulous the Inn had all the makings of the traditional Inn, we loved it. The food was excellent the choice of drinks excellent. Our room was spacious, the bed really big and comfortable. Staff very friendly and helpful, parking sometimes distant from the Inn (weekends) however mostly easy at the door. Bathroom hot water hot and good pressure. Windows in the room could be opened.
Our room 4 bathroom was difficult to shower if you are not young and could not sit in the bath. Other rooms had a proper shower setup. Room 4 bathroom needs to be upgraded.

Travelling by bicycle with my friend. Great location. There was a secure shed with metal racks, at the back of the pub, to securely store them, We arrived on a sunny, Sunday afternoon, when there was live music playing, so it was great to sit outside & take in the atmosphere & listen to the band. The room was slightly old fashioned, but in keeping with the inn. Shower over the bath was not a problem. It was very clean. Evening meal very good, breakfast also very good. Staff welcoming. Enjoyable stay & would come again. Good to see a thriving, local village pub.
There was bit of a problem with flies buzzing around, in the dining room, but it's a country location & the weather was very warm. The shed at the back was a little difficult to manoever the bikes in, because there was a big fridge in there, but it was ok.

Lovely location .. very comfortable room…
Unfortunately when we stayed there was a plague of flies which just took the edge off what could have been an even more enjoyable stay ..we all thought ( 3 of us ) that maybe a bit more could have been done to get rid of the pesky bliters evening dinners were superb..Breakfast could have been better.. ( overcooked almost cremated ) ..

What a find! Accomodation was excellent and clean. Pub and restaurant food are absolutely great. More than anything it was the people that made me feel so comfortable and at home. The owner the landlady the chef other customers will remain as friends from now on. Can't wait to go back again and take in more of the history of the village. Excellent and highly recommended. Thank you to everyone ⭐💫⭐💫⭐
Absolutely nothing.

Really good cooked breakfast and evening meals. All hot and timely served. Beautiful village setting with pub at the heart of the community. Really good atmosphere. Staff very efficient and welcoming and dog friendly...including cuddles and treats from the bar. Live bands on Sunday .afternoon seem very popular. Lovely big patio and garden area to the rear.
Room could have been a little larger given we had all our hiking gear and stuff for a large 🐕 but we managed ok. Massive shower.

Great location on the C2C cycle route, and good cycle storage. Lovely pub and nice room. Very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent pizza (one of the best I've ever had) from the outdoor pizza van, enjoyed while watching the rugby in the garden room. Loved the Tarzan memorabilia everywhere.
Better provision for vegan breakfasts - as we did indicate dietary requirements when we booked.
