Very comfortable and elegant. I would stay here even without the Agatha Christie connection.

The menu in the restaurant could have been a bit more interesting but the prices were good.

Excellent location and facilities. Staff were helpful and friendly Bed was comfortable , and room was nice and quiet, just too warm. Good breakfast choice but include meats and cheeses to go with croissants for continental option.

Bedroom was too warm, impossible to sleep even with window open Weren’t informed of £10 parking charge when booking Husband’s meal was undercooked whilst mine was over cooked, seasoning a bit bland, but menu was great and varied, just a bit more attention to detail needed. Breakfast good.

The character, history and architectural beauty of the hotel and its beautiful setting redolent of a more gracious past age. Comfortable public areas, bedroom and exceptionally elegant period dining room. Breakfast og good quality and range and very good attentive service.

We arrived tired after a long journey from London during a heatwave to be met by an indifferent welcome by male members of staff at reception. Bedroom wardrobe inadequate for two people in a double room. The bathroom basin and bath plugs did not hold water which was reported to reception the first evening. These were not repaired during our three night stay. The beautiful facade of the hotel was marred by grey possibly dirty net curtains in the offices section of the ground floor. On site residents car park an expensive extra at £10 per day. Saturday Lunchtime bar food unavailable due to wedding event. Sunday evening restaurant not open (except for half board guests) due to staff shortage.

We've stayed here before and found the experience very good. The rooms are clean & a decent size, the breakfast (included) is excellent. The staff are friendly and helpful, the hotel is central to most of Harrogate's attractions.

Just the one minus - you have to pay for the hotel car park now.

Characteristics and charm of the old building. Friendly helpful staff Lovely breakfast & evening meal.

All the extras added once you arrive: parking charge of £10 a day for a privately owned hotel car park, 10% added for tips/service on the restaurant bill and then a £10 room service charge. Just felt it’s our decision how much to tip not being focused into an embarrassing situation. The cost of the rooms are expensive, but the rooms were very basic and mattress hard. A nice local scenery print of Yorkshire on the walls maybe. Television did not work well in one of our rooms. Better signing from the rooms to the reception- like a maze.

The breakfast was very nice with p[lenty to choose from, Room was nice and spacious overall excellant location as was attending an event at the convention centre. Lift made it easy to access rooms. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. and willing to go the extra distance to assist.

Parking at £10 a day was not pleasant especially as booking.com was showing it as £7 all other places I have stayed at in harrogate previous years have provided free parking with use of permit cards. The Bathroom was too small. As a larger gentleman I found using the toilet very difficult as the radiator was directly in front of it leaving only about 2 foot between HOT radiator and side of the bath, gratuity auto added is always a big turn off. let me decide if i want to tip please. Beds on super roll castors were fun

Hotel is ideally located for all Harrogate shops and attractions. Our executive room was spacious, and the breakfast options available were very good for our four night stay. Hotel staff were also friendly and helpful.

The single lift in the hotel is quite small, and wait times can be a little lengthy, however, this should be taken in the context of the hotel building being quite old. The £10 daily charge to use the hotel car-park is a bit annoying too, but I understand this is to comply with local parking regulations, so just something that has to be lived with.

Location brilliant for Harrogate town centre, comfortable lounge to sit in for a drink. Room a good size, executive room. Didn’t use the restaurant for evening meal but prices looked reasonable. Good room service, problem with tv on arrival fixed quickly.

Executive room and would have expected a king size bed and not two singles pushed together. Hole in sheet. Not many sockets for charging phones, one in particular was decidedly dodgy, not secure on the wall. No croissants at breakfast, fresh batch baked and available when I had finished my breakfast. Receptionist on arrival competent but did not come across as friendly. Although in line with all hotels service charge mandatory, service was good but nothing exceptional. Think a service charge should be optional and you should be able to pay what you feel is justified.

Old Swan Hotel provided the perfect stay. The staff were welcoming and friendly, the room was exceptionally clean (well done to your housekeepers) bed comfortable with plenty of space in our room. Felt very comfortable walking around both inside the hotel with lots of interesting rooms on the ground floor, including the lovely quiet library. The grounds were lovely too. Living in London it was particularly nice to sit on the front lawn on the tables and deck chairs provided. Plenty of space and very peaceful. Breakfast worked brilliantly with lots of room for the buffet style set up. Food was scrumptious and a good set up for the day. The evening meal hit the spot too, yummy food.

Not a particular dislike as it was funny but the toaster at breakfast was tediously long. Upgrade perhaps?
