The staff at The Kings Head were brilliant, especially the staff on at breakfast time. Nothing was too much trouble. We arrived on Boxing Day and it was very busy with not a spare table in the bar area. We had our dog with us and unfortunately dogs aren't allowed in the restaurant. The manager on duty made a space just inside the restaurant for us and the dog so we could enjoy a drink.
The cleanliness of the room was quite poor, just little things like soap scum and black mould around the plug hole and on the grouting in the shower - easily fixed with some mould removal spray. There was dust on the light fittings and the extractor fan in the bathroom was full of dust and fluff.

We stayed here on 15/12/23 staff were super friendly and food was amazing reasonably priced along with drinks. Lovely warm fire to sit next to. We stayed in room 27 which was situated through the alley. The bed was very comfortable sheets were clean. We will return as it was a lovely village with plenty pubs and eateries close by.
I did not like the fact that cash could not be used, also and if I’m being critical there were quite a few cobwebs on the light fittings which needed to be cleaned and would benefit the hotel to address this that aside the rest of the hotel was of a very high standard.

We enjoyed breakfast and the breakfast staff Gay and Chris did everything they could to make our meal enjoyable. The room could do with a lick of paint but it was perfectly fine. Lovely touch with the chocolate the first night and replenishing the tea/coffee and Borders biscuits :)
The restaurant really let the place down for our evening meal. We sat for 30 mins before anyone came to take our order. I don't know if this was because they were short staffed or busy but certainly our bar meal the second night was better. The chefs specials the first night were just okay. The food from the regular menu was much better the second evening in the bar - this was very disappointing.

Great breakfast and staff on rota were excellent especially in attention to our dog who was very spoilt with sausages and affection.
The room was damp and radiator broken, the staff did attend quickly to try and resolve and did on my inquiry offer another room, the 2nd room was better however lots of dust and kept awake at night by a large outside electric refrigerator, again staff were helpful when we complained and did turn the fridge off at nighttime, I would suggest if you are a light sleeper asking for a quiet room position

It’s was a beautiful property with ample parking and very dog friendly. The rooms were immaculate and beautifully designed. The staff couldn’t have been more friendly especially as we didn’t arrive until 1930hrs they made sure we would get served at the restaurant. One of my friends is coeliac and she was blown away by the choice on her coeliac friendly menu. The food was delicious, well presented and very reasonably priced. After a good night’s sleep for me and the dogs it was time to have breakfast. The choices for breakfast were huge and I settled for pancakes, bacon & maple syrup which were so tasty and such a huge portion that I left the dogs a mountain of bacon. When I asked the staff if they could wrap the food up for the dogs they came back with a box filled with my leftover bacon and some tasty sausages - obviously from a quality butcher. The dogs enjoyed their tasty treat. Service was excellent with the wait staff noticing immediately that I was disabled so they got anything I needed from the continental selection and fresh juices. After paying more for a breakfast at a hotel recently that was a dried up “continental “ breakfast with a warm selection of poor quality sausages & scrambled egg I couldn’t believe how much better the value the breakfast was.
That we were only there for one night 😭

This is the 4th different courtyard building we have stayed in, and like the other 3 it was amazing. Bed was comfortable and very big. Room was very clean, had everything we needed and was lovely and quiet. The food in the hotel was great and reasonably priced. The staff, especially the waitress (who seemed to always be working) were outstanding. The location is great. Only a matter of time before we return.
Nothing really. If I had to say anything the shower was a bit tricky to put on, but to be honest I find that most places I stay, so probably more to do with me!

Lovely big room but with a cosy feel. Big bathroom. Comfortable beds. Clean and tidy. Had everything we needed. A great location. We would definitely stay again.
The breakfast wasn't as good as I expected. The bar was a little pricey I felt and it was card only. This we weren't aware of when booking. They also had charity collection tubs on the bar for you to donate your loose change although given it is card only I don't see how they will raise much money 😕 hopefully the hotel changes the card only policy to allow cash. Other than that we enjoyed our stay 🙂

Perfect location for our needs. Super friendly welcome from reception. All staff were very friendly. Room was very nicely appointed, clean, plenty of tea & coffee (variety of teas & also decaf, and could have fresh milk if desired, & biscuits & chocolates), comfy bed, large bathroom with separate bath & shower & lovely toiletries, room was in the courtyard at back of hotel & was very quiet. Good choice for breakfast, although they didn't have the beef rib hash so will need to revisit for that! Nice comfortable, beautifully decorated bar area.
All was good. No negative feedback at all.

Traditional countryside Inn with fabulous food, friendly staff and a beautiful setting. Rooms were spacious, warm and well furnished. Dark, quiet and so tranquil and peaceful of an evening we have both never slept so well. Reasonably priced drinks.
Room 17 has low beams. When you say low they are 5ft low (but well padded). Im 6ft 2” and my wife is 5ft 6”. We may both have bumped ourselves if we we’re not careful. People with restricted mobility may struggle, or the clumsy, or if you need the loo at 3am in the wonderful absolute darkness. We were made aware of the beams in the room by staff and offered alternatives but we’re happy with the room itself - very spacious and luxurious.

Possibly thanks to a fairly recent refurbishment, the reception areas and our bedroom were nicely decorated and maintained. Good sized bedroom and a smashing bed. Great location on Masham’s market square. Very convenient parking. Lovely relaxed breakfast in a well appointed dining room.
Not being offered a remote control for the television in our room, and learning whilst checking-out that I, “should have asked for one on arrival” as “They keep getting taken” (stolen that is). Perhaps offering one to your guest at check-in and asking for its return at check-out, would have been a better way to go about it.
