Stayed 3 nights whilst visiting friends in the town. Every staff member I spoke with was very friendly and welcoming. They offered to take my case up to the room on arrival (not everywhere would do this) The room was very comfortable for my needs and the bed was like home from home, very comfortable and warm. Toiletries in the bathroom were a nice touch. The room was made up on the 2nd morning for my return that night, I was offered it to be made up on my 3rd morning but politely declined, didn't want to give them extra work when I was checking out the next morning anyway. Didn't eat at the hotel but options for breakfast in room was a bonus if you wanted that and there was the option for a takeaway continental breakfast too. I'll definitely stay again when visiting my friends next time I'm down!

The only gripe I had was the people in the room next to me started banging doors the first two mornings at 7:30am - they must have been going down for breakfast!

Very well presented, decorated room, hotel rooms etc. Good standard and portions of food, good choice for breakfast. Friendly staff.

Didn't realise the small packs in the room were shower gel, normally it's in containers and needed more than one sachet for a wash and opened soap bar taken away before being able to use the second day. Was not given the option to go in the Restaurant for dinner, had to eat in the bar where the drinks were overpriced. The menu wasn't large and what I wanted was not available on both nights, 3 things were not available the second night. Glasses had not been cleared from tables and rubbish was amongst the seats in the outside garden area.

The house: an ancient mansion with a fireplace, oak paneling in the lounge, and stained glass windows in the staircases. Parts devoted to meetings or events also kept ancient decorations. The room (237) was not very large but comfortable and quiet, with a warm atmosphere and a decent number of power sockets. The small desk allows you to work on a laptop, and there is sufficient storage space for a long stay. The bathroom is well-equipped with ample towels. The Full English breakfast is very varied, generous, and excellent. The diner service is appreciated (but beware of the early closing on Sunday) The staff are friendly and attentive. The large parking. The hotel is an excellent location for tourists who search for a place to stay while visiting renowned Sussex Gardens: some are very close (Bored Hill, Neymans), and many others are around an hour's drive away.

The bar and dining room decor is modern, but the blue light creates too many reflections and a rather cold atmosphere. In some parts of the common areas, the light is too aggressively white; softer shades would enhance the decor. Continental breakfast has more limited choices

The staff are great. The atmosphere is relaxed but organised. Very friendly and comfortable. The rooms are lovely with plenty of space and good facilities. Very comfortable bed and excellent shower with bath. Hotel is very clean and well maintained. We didn't have the breakfast this time but we have had this before and it was very good. We had a meal in the bar which was very well cooked, good quality, and there was plenty of choice. Then we spent time chatting in the lounge with a drink.Thank you for the complimentary mince pies and satsumas.

It was very clean and comfortable from what I could see in a one night stay. Didn't the restaurant so can't comment on that.

When I arrived the Receptionist was very off-hand about the fact that the hotel didn’t have a lift and I was on the top floor. Sort of take-it-or-leave-it attitude. When asked why, he said ot was a listed building and they couldn't instal one and implied it was my own fault for not putting anything on my booking about needing a lift. I don't, but his attitude was very offhand. Would suggest it was made clear in their literature that there isn't a lift. Shame because all the other staff were extremely nice and happy.

We come here fairly often as we have family close by. It has a lovely relaxed atmosphere, rooms and bar area are excellent and we always feel very comfortable here. We didn't have the breakfast this time but we have had before and it is excellent. We are back Christmas Eve, and we also stayed here last Christmas!

The only thing that would have been nice was to have real milk in the room for tea and coffee ( I hate UHT) which would mean a small, silent fridge. A small bottle of water would be handy too.

The staff are always good at The Birch. Jackie on reception is great, always wanting to meet my needs whether that's checking in a bit early or securing me a room on the ground floor. She is helpful, professional and lovely. There is a young man who works in the bar area (I forgot to get his name) who is excellent at customer service. I've started to use this hotel regularly now for business as it's become a home from home.

The only thing i would criticise is the desk in the room is quite uncomfortable to work at as the chair is too high for me to fit my legs under the desk. Everything else is great!

Exceptionally clean room, bed linen, towels. Very comfortable bed. Very good breakfast. Staff at breakfast Exceptional. My guest (mother in law) really enjoyed her stay - which was a treat for Mother's Day.

Bar area and 'bistro' not in keeping with the rest if the building, lighting harsh for an evening meal. Food average. Not a huge choice - if you were staying longer than a week. Rooms in newer part of hotel generic of any large chain, in layout and provisions. No breakfast tray service or though you can order 'other' room service at the other end of the day. Beware of expecting too much from your stay.

We had an extremely comfortable, clean and well-equipped room with a very comfortable bed. The breakfast was excellent and very reasonably priced. My Full English was cooked to order and beautifully fresh. We received a warm welcome at reception on arrival and found all staff warm, friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, we were only staying one night, but would certainly return for a longer stay so we could explore the local area. Highly recommend the Birch Hotel.

Can't actually think of anything!!!

We have used this hotel regularly over the last few years, and we love the location, as it is a 15-minute walk from my son's house and walkable into Haywards Heath centre. Has lovely restaurant, breakfast is great, loads of choices. The grounds are lovely, when the weather it hot & dry, you can sit outside with a nice cold beer from their bar, so quiet & tranquil. It is also dog friendly, as we have dogs, who love getting fussed there. Would definitely recommend the Birch Hotel
