Set in beautiful grounds, spacious, old world style and elegance. Good facilities with a lovely pool and health facilities. We had a relaxing massage and a very nice dinner. Excellent choices for breakfast both cooked to order and self service items. Lovely room with comfy bed, separate sitting room and a jacuzzi bath and overlooking a lake and fountain. Very peaceful and quiet. The staff were very friendly and attentive.

We were initially put in a smaller room several floors up with no lift. As I have a lung condition I was not able to climb the stairs so we requested to be moved to a lower floor. This was done and we were given a lovely room that was more easily accessible for me. I think the hotel should warn guests that there is no lift and a lot of stairs

Fabulous location. Stunning building. Comfortable..beautiful grounds. Quiet area. Breakfasts were good. The shower was superb . Molton Brown toiletries lovely. Towels and bed linen of high quality.

Some parts, like the dining room were a little tired in decoration. Evening meals in both restaurants were not quite as good as we had hoped or expected. Out bathroom had a broken toilet seat and a bare wire on the heated towel rail

The building and grounds are stunning. There's a real sense of occasion when arriving at the entrance and walking into the reception. The service was great and the food in the restaurant is exceptional! The breakfast was great, with a wide choice of cooked to order dishes, plus continental offereings.

We had a Junior Suite and whilst it was fairly big and was clean, the furnishings were fairly basic and it didn't feel luxurious. A wedding took place, during our stay and a lot of the guests were talking very loud when walking past our room, late at night. They were also very loud at breakfast, the next day and we would suggest that the guests are separated on such occasions.

Absolutely everything was perfect. The grounds are beautiful and we enjoyed a lovely walk following the map supplied by the hotel. The bed was exceptionally comfortable and room was fabulous. The staff were most attentive and welcoming. Dinner in the brasserie was delicious and the breakfast was amazing with a fabulous choice. The attention to detail was incredible and the facilities available made us want to stay for longer. We will definitely return.

The only downside for me was that the pool was a little chilly and the brasserie was adjacent to the pool so the smell of chlorine on the way to dinner wasn’t pleasant.

The breakfast was exceptional. The continental buffet offered many choices, and the breakfasts were cooked to perfection. We were in the room in the east wing. It was very pretty, with many round windows through which we could see the greenery from the trees. But the only downside was that it needed a little bit of TLC; for example, we can see the fray on the carpet edge at the bathroom door. The Dining room was beautiful; a pianist played during the first two hours, which was a very nice touch. The food presentation was outstanding and cooked to perfection.

The grounds are exceptionally beautiful! The facilities are great! Including mapped out walks, croquet, tennis court, spa, and swimming pool. We arrived early (before check in) and was told to make ourselves comfortable in the tea room or use the facilities at the country club.

The majority of the staff are very welcoming and professional. However, we did encounter some staff trash talking about other customers bringing children into the restaurant (this is supposed to be a family friendly hotel). My wife and I do not have children so maybe this is why they felt comfortable being so abrasive around us. We ourselves were called out after and chased by a waiter claiming we gave the wrong room number, even though we did not. We made a complaint about this treatment straightaway and it was dealt with appropriately and professionally.

Room is fabulous!

I went for my friend’s wedding. I rang the hotel before I arrived. I was told by a member of staff that I would get 10% off as I would be the wedding guest even I booked from booking.com. However, when I checked in, the staff refused to do the 10%. Everything was perfect except this issue.

Lovely large, clean room with a comfortable bed and luxury bath with Molton Brown toiletries! The furniture in the room is very cool and in keeping with the building history. The postcards are a lovely touch. Friendly, helpful staff who offered a warm welcome. Beautiful building with stunning surroundings. Lots to explore and plenty of places to sit outside on a sunny day.

Given how stunning the building is, the reception area was very busy and underwhelming. It would be nice if the reception could be renovated to give a grander reception table and allow for staff to have more space. Ordering room service was confusing, there wasn't a menu in the room and they didn't have simple items like onion rings or sides. When we did receive our order it was wrong and it's very pricey but not necessarily great quality. There was a broken coffee machine in the room, but the staff were kind enough to get a takeaway coffee from the kitchen.

The location was fabulous, watching the deer on the golf course in the evening was wonderful. The staff were very helpful and friendly, attentive without being too overbearing. The location was the winning factor for our stay here. I wouldn't stay here again as I think there are hotels out there that are much better value for money.

The 12.5% service charge applied to absolutely everything. I was frightened to sneeze in case that incurred a charge. I had a massage whilst staying and that incurred the service charge which was totally unnecessary. The spa was rather dated with its facilities although the pool area was lovely and I did enjoy my massage. We had dinner and Father's Day lunch at the hotel. Both were very disappointing for a four star hotel. I've had better at my local pub and most of the food was served to the table luke warm.

The views from the room was lovely. Our room was cosy & clean other than some stains around bottom of the toilet which was a bit yucky.

Our breakfast on the Sunday morning never turned up despite my partner heading to reception and saying it hadn’t arrived. We were told to head back up to the room and that it would be with us shortly - it never turned up. We went to the airport starving. Also breakfast from the Saturday morning was collected but then placed on a table outside our room and left there all day & evening and wasn’t removed until the Sunday morning. The smell of the cooked breakfast plates wasn’t pleasant when we arrived back to our room at 2am from the wedding.
