The staff were so lovely and really accommodating - we were attending a wedding nearby so requested if it was possible to have an early check in, as we wouldn't be returning to the hotel till late at night. After speaking with the hotel the day before our booking, they were more than happy to allow us to have our keys before check-in, and actually made sure our room was ready early enough so that we could check in, which we were so grateful for. The hotel is full of character and has a real oldy-worldy feel to it, which we loved. The room we stayed in was very clean, spacious, and comfortable, and we really enjoyed our breakfast the following morning - it was delicious! Thank you for a wonderful, albeit short, stay. We would definitely like to return in the future.

We booked on a whim on the morning of travelling. The hotel looked nice and had good reviews and included breakfast with a good nightly rate so we booked. It has plenty of parking, the check in was easy. The staff were very friendly and the room comfortable. Nothing over the top special, but good, clean and attractive rooms. Big shower room. We had left it to late to book the restaurant for dinner so ate in the bar. I can say the food was excellent, I had fish & chips and my partner had chicken & bacon carbonara and both were of good quality, good portion and well priced. We had a comfortable sleep and can tell anybody booking, do not go WITHOUT having the breakfast in the morning! It was the best breakfast I've ever had when staying in hotels. The restaurant is a beautiful seating area and the Full English breakfast is to die for. Plenty of tea/coffee. The toast they supply is half a loaf with your breakfast! 2 sausages, 2 eggs, 2 bacon, beans, mushrooms, tomato. This alone was worth the visit :-) If you are thinking of booking, do so. It was worth it. We would go back.

Village pub through and through, with good ales and ciders, good food and 18 rooms to stay over. Parking is behind the pub and free of cost. Big rooms with en-suites. Staff are friendly and helpful. Pub is filled on almost all evenings. Good atmosphere.

I stayed for 3 nights and noticed on the night of checkin the carpet in my room was wet at the bathroom door (room 17). After mentioning it at breakfast the next day I was immediately moved to a different room (11). Apparently the heating must have leaked some water so the plumber had to come. Room 11 was perfect for the next 2 nights. Only thing is that in both rooms the WiFi didn’t work (connection but very slow internet) and both bathrooms were a bit tired and could use a update. They were definitely clean, but a bit worn out.

Lovely old Inn. Everyone was so very friendly and welcoming. Our room was fantastic. All the original centuries old features were beautifully preserved to enjoy but with modern conveniences to make it ever so comfortable. Only staying the one night. In the morning, we had the the joy of the peal of Sunday church bells after enjoying a substantial freshley cooked full English breakfast that was beautifully cooked and presented. You couldn't ask for more. And, we would recommend the Stoneaged restaurant for its great food and service.

Nothing really.

Enjoyed an overnight stay here. Our room was tge Diamond Suite. Loved the view and tge bathroom. Even though on tge main road had a great night's sleep. We ate in tge Stone aged Restaurant here. Melia served us and was so friendly and efficient. Breakfast tge next day was gorgeous and tge lady tgat served us was so friendly and welcoming. The Hotel has an interesting history too. I would stay again when in this delightful town

We were fine but if someone has mobility issues it is up and down stairs

We liked the location, it was situated on a lovely night street with lots of bars and restaurants, it was very clean and spacious, the staff were very friendly, the room was lovely, breakfast was beautiful

We didn’t like having the Johnson suite, it was beautiful but very very noisy, either people, traffic or the church clock, there is ear plugs supplied, so it is recommended to use them And the men didn’t like which ever ale they chose, it was all too warm and didn’t taste nice

Lovely old Inn. We had a huge room. Lovely bathroom (except the shower door in the huge beautiful bathroom broken and didn't close properly). Great little pub downstairs. Good breakfast included.

Accessed by many steps..up..up...down..up...up. A bit of a challenge. Restaurant: no atmosphere. And not a great style of cooking (mostly cook your own on a hot plate). We didn't realise we could have eaten in the main pub area- would have done so if we'd been advised but it was full when we came in to eat. No fridge in our room- We always like a small fridge in our room, which most places have, as we have prescription medication that needs to be refrigerated.

We arrived early as we were not certain where to park, White Swan was on the main road. I popped in to see the staff who were extremely helpful showing us where to go. From the 1st poiint of contact to the last member of staff we saw at the hotel everyone was very welcoming and lovely. They had an event going on in the evening when we were returning after our day out, they apologised if it was loud but it actually made it a pleasureable stay as the hotel was buzzing with people.

Nothing all good

Lovely room - shower door off hinge, otherwise perfect. Restaurant was interesting with the stone cooked steak. Service was exceptional in restaurant and bar. I would say the food was very good. Restaurant menu somewhat limited, but more extensive if you add the bar menu as well! A very welcoming and helpful bunch of staff running the place - full marks!

no Wifi in the room at all, Traffic noise is inevitable and my room faced the street which was noisy from about 0400 onwards - hence the ear plugs by the bed! Get a back room if noise bothers you or use the earplugs.

Great location and building. Bar and restaurant was very good with good service and friendly staff. The room was spacious, the bed comfortable and the bathroom was a good size with a large shower which was excellent. Free parking was a bonus

I appreciate its an old building and I did not expect a lift but there were a lot of stairs up and down various corridors and a long walk to get to the room so perhaps this should be mentioned somewhere as anyone with mobility issues would find it very difficult to negotiate as did I. Housekeeping only left 2 sachets of coffee and 2 tea bags and forgot to leave any milk.
