Drovers Rest is lovely! we stayed in The Cart House which was really spacious, well appointed and so warm! Unfortunately the weather meant we couldn't partake in a farm walk but the fact that it was even an option was wonderful! We had everything we needed, the beds were comfortable and the water was hot! We cooked for the two nights we were there and had everything we needed. There is WiFi, games, books and various streaming services on hand if needed. The blackout blinds are a great touch and it is honestly so quiet! Marta was in contact and gave us all the information we needed.

The road in is narrow and not for faint hearted drivers!

Stunning location, lovely safari tents with comfortable beds (and electric blankets!), gorgeous duvets and Welsh wool throws, indoor and outdoor sofas, a wood burner and private bathrooms with loads of hot water. We loved the bar and seating area by the barn, and went to do a ‘secret campfire’ one night in the woods, complete with marshmallows and cookies for smores, which was perfect. The owners and staff are all super friendly and it is the perfect distance from Hay-on-Wye if you come for the festival, or for long dog walks and hiking in the beautiful Brecon hills.

There was nothing we didn’t like. The only thing I would add is a small mirror in the tents for those vain people like me who want to check how they look before venturing out into the open 😊

We stayed in Drovers Cottage, which was lovely! The views from the kitchen, garden and the double bedroom were stunning. The cottage was slightly secluded on the property which was perfect for us with two dogs and to give us some privacy. The first morning, we accompanied Paul on his farm feed which was a fantastic experience! He spent a good amount of time chatting with us about the animals, and we got stuck in hand feeding them all. The cottage itself was great, the kitchen spacious and the living room cosy. We would certainly return again. The area is wonderful, with Hay on Wye not far at all. Truly remote and in the countryside, a wonderful experience to be welcomed into Paul and Kesri's farm. Marta was very helpful, making sure we were settled etc.

There were very few negatives, however some practical things to mention. The oven wasn't particularly brilliant, the doors into the building were quite stiff and difficult to open and shut, we decided not to use the doubles doors out into the garden as it was easier to not open them. The room with twin beds were very creaky but comfy. The bathrooms were lovely, however the showers were a bit impractical as they had glass panels but not fully enclosed which meant some water sprayed onto the floor/walls.

We stayed in the safari tents which were incredibly clean and beautifully styled. The beds were so comfy and the log burner was a fantastic touch. You get individual shower rooms which made the whole “camping” experience so much easier! The food and bar on Wednesday was wonderful and super reasonably priced and Paul, Kesri and Marta were so friendly and welcoming. The whole family were super attentive and so kind to our one year old. The farm tour was so much fun, Marta was incredibly knowledgeable and we loved feeding the animals!

Absolutely nothing, we could not fault it.

We loved this little hidden gem of a place. The staff were wonderful. We got a free guided tour to feed the animals. Which was quite soothing. It's a lovely place to just chill. The scenery is wonderful. Even saw a red kite sweeping quite low . Very good value for money

Could not fault anything

Stunning farm location with a whole animal tour by the hosts which made our morning. Accommodation was gorgeous, such a homely cottage and had everything we need- including a fab fire. Amenities were all good too. The views of the farm were wonderful and the hosts were very friendly but not intrusive and provided us with everything we needed including local knowledge. Would definitely come again!

It was all perfect!

Lovely cottage in a remote and quiet location.

There was no heating, so we found it a little chilly. A wooden spoon would have been handy to stir porridge. The toilet in the double bedroom didn’t flush as the cistern wouldn’t fill up.

Idyllic farm setting to unwind and relax. Friendly and helpful host. Option of gorgeous food and a drinks bar onsite. The Cart cottage was lovely and well appointed. The safari tents also look amazing. I’m sure we will be back.

Beautiful location with a fair amount to do specially with kids. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Although a beautiful cottage, upstairs felt cramped while it was an extremely busy weekend on the farm when we visited and we didnt feel a sense of privacy.
