Clean room with a windows looking out onto fields which made it feel very private. Nice bathroom with a good shower. Comfortable bed.

It could have been clearer where to enter the property for the hotel, I didn’t notice any sign for the reception and went in through the pub (though I was helped by friendly staff). Was a little unclear whether I should seat myself at breakfast as there were no staff for a minute or two, or signage to help, but I sat myself down and didn’t have to wait too long for a member of staff to notice and sort me out.

Good size room with a very comfortable large four poster bed. All the staff we dealt with were very friendly and helpful. Although we were at the front of the hotel, road noise was not really a problem. The restaurant was decent and reasonably priced and the bar had a good selection of drinks. Plenty of car parking. Short 15 minute walk into the village where there are a couple of good pubs.

We had a problem with the toilet and TV on our first night. The toilet problem was not completely solved when we left. Some strange choices on the menu including a rather strange curry flavoured accompaniment to our steak that we both found rather unpleasant.

Everything! The facilities were fab, cosy and comfortable but a good size and unique. Fab bathroom too. Loved the 40% off the new seasonal menu offer too, was great when met my sister for dinner and gave us enough cash to have cocktails too! Absolutely loved the coffee bags in the room and the cafetiere of coffee in the morning with breakfast was perfect!! Fabulous stay and special thanks to James who served us- Absolutely fabulous manners. Will definitely recommend to others, stay again when visiting family and look for more Flat Cap places to stay. The fan being on in the room to welcome me was such a thoughtful touch too, thank you.

Nothing.

Ideal location and great area. Cosy and quiet.

Info said 24 hour reception service. Unable to get hold of anyone on check out due to no staff. Called number and rang out with no answer. Had to leave room key in envelope at desk and call later to check they had it and checked me out of my room. I Had to leave early due to journey I was on. Unable to get any breakfast on leaving as it was paid for. There was no warning before arrival that breakfast was at 8am on weekends. So unable to have breakfast as I left at 7am

Location was excellent for our needs, visiting friends who live on a narrow boat moored at nearby Middlewich. All the staff were very friendly, from greeting us, reception, bar staff, waiters at breakfast and cleaners. The room was fairly basic, but was clean and had all the amenities we required for our short stay. The breakfast was excellent too. Ample free car parking. Only slight dip was the shower experience. Excellent and powerful shower, but screen not adequate and couldn't help but get water all over the floor. I'm over 6' tall and me standing under the shower, the screen was well below my head height, a bit unusual really. The bathroom floor being constantly wet could have been a bit annoying if our stay had been longer or spent more time in the room. However, over all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

The shower screen in our bathroom. Too small for the power of the shower.

Friendly helpful staff, good food. Great that dog was welcomed. Everything appeared clean.

Only one cup provided - an oversight that was quickly corrected when we mentioned it. But even when housekeeping had been in the following morning they did not ensure we had two saucers or a teaspoon. We were told by reception Sunday breakfast didn't start until 8:30am but found it actually started at 8 - we would have gone down earlier had we known. Only minor niggles though, did not spoil our stay.

The hotel provided a nice place to stay and was convenient to break a motorway journey, so these comments are made as constructive criticism. The highlights were the staff, the food and the drinks.

It appears that all the dining room tables are sticky, so need to be stripped and revarnished. The bedrooms are gloomy, so you feel like you're in a cave and there are no comfortable chairs. There was no wine list with the menu on the table.

The room and bathroom were fantastic size and very comfortable, great check in and out with friendly chatty staff.

In the morning unfortunately the bread delivery hadn't come so no toast was available on continental breakfast, although slightly confused as to why no one just popped and got some. Also the first staff member we met we asked was it only the continental breakfast available to which she said yes. Gave no great information on where to sit or how breakfast there went, apart from when we sat in the wrong section. To then find out after getting a few bits there was a cooked selection for us. Even more confusing some of those cooked items had toast involved. Unfortunately by this point we already got too much food to order the hot options, so it would've been nice if the staff member had explained how breakfast worked as we clearly had no idea what we were doing.

Upon entering the hotel, we was immediately struck by the seamless blend of modern luxury and old-world charm. The tasteful interior design, with its attention to detail and refined aesthetics, created a captivating ambiance that exuded both comfort and sophistication. The rooms at The Vicarage were a sanctuary of comfort and relaxation. Our room was beautifully appointed with stylish furnishings, plush bedding, and an abundance of natural light.

The snacks in the room and water was a nice touch, The entertainment (gent singing on guitar) was nice. Fan in room was very thoughtful as it was very hot. Liked being able to get soya milk with my coffee. Nice shower.

Better ordinary gluten free vegetarian options without being fancy. e.g. no needs to have goats cheese just because its vegetarian. I didn’t expect this as it was not advertised but my stay would have been even better if I could have plugged in my electric car overnight. A cheep slow charge would have been brilliant. Even if this was charged for obviously at a reasonable rate. A simple outside 3 pin plug would really help some electric car drivers and if left on for 12 hrs overnight would offer a driver 25kWh (100miles range) boost. The hotel could make a small profit on this (say £10 charge) and offer a very convenient facility perhaps drawing a few extra customers.
