Charming and country style yet modern and spacious. The rooms were contemporary yet had a country and rustic style. Quality of bedding and bed was amazing. Food was high quality and tasty. Pricing if food was appropriate. One particular member of staff, Millie, went above and beyond to make us feel at home and spent time chatting, showing a genuine warmth and interest in us and other guests. Parking opposite was good and really handy too.

Nothing directly with the properly as we were so impressed but church bells opposite tinkled from dawn every half hour or so and we had window open. It didn’t bother us massively but we did notice. It is what it is and the church and setting is lovely so we just appreciated it for what it was.

Our stay at the Pickled Pheasant was nothing short of superb. From the minute we arrived, (may I add early) to the minute we checked out nothing was too much trouble. We were met by Nicholas who must be one of the most pleasant hosts we have had the pleasure to meet. He told us that our room had been prioritised for cleaning and would be ready around 1pm. We stayed in the Mallard and it was lovely. Spacious and comfortable. My wife loved the free standing bath under the window. The walk in shower was brilliant. The bed was super comfy as were the pillows. The food here is excellent. We had a lovely Sunday lunch and breakfasts were included in the price. And what breakfast they are. If you get the large Full English make sure you are hungry. All in all an excellent stay with lovely, friendly professional hosts. Would not hesitate to return. Hopefully the weather would be a bit drier.

Nothing. It was excellent with no improvement needed.

stayed for two nights as we were attending a wedding close by. We had a lovely good sized room with a nice view. the bathroom was decorated really well and we had a walk in shower. the hotel provided toiletries, a good selection of teas and coffees, kettle and complimentary bottled water. I needed an iron and they brought this up for me. complimentary homemade brownies left on the bed were tasty and we ended up buying more before we left - you can find these on the bar! breakfast was also included in the price and the options were fantastic. enjoyed a meal in the restaurant on the first night and quality was really good. would happily stay here again. staff were so friendly and helpful. thoroughly enjoyed this stay.

there is nothing negative to say.

Room was fabulous, all done to a very high standard. Ate there on both evenings of our stay. Food was very good. Equally good breakfast all cooked fresh to order, although service very slow. We enjoyed lovely walks from ThePickled Pheasant without having to get in the car.

The coffee machine was broken in the bar/restaurant throughout our stay so they were unable to provide any tea or coffee at breakfast. Don’t think it would have been too difficult to boil an electric kettle to make tea or a cafetière of coffee!

Highly recommend this this Hotel and restaurant. This is a well oiled machine with the focus on customer satisfaction. We arrived on the day a little late but we were able to ring ahead and order in advance our complimentary afternoon tea. Afternoon tea supplied with the finest sandwiches and cakes where sent to our table soon after we arrived. Not a crust to be seen, all very refined / high end and superb!! I made the error of not informing the hotel of our daughter lactose intolerance, and a substitute sandwich was quickly provided. Many thanks. We stayed at the hotel for evening meal and drinks. Menu was food was excellent. We utilised the dog friendly room which came with dog towel :-). Finest ingredients used for the English breakfast. Breakfast cooked fresh and included free top ups of tea and coffee. The Hotel and restaurant is dog friendly. Our stay was faultless and highly recommend. We did not want to stay in Holmfirth, but we enjoyed a short 30 min walk the following day. Our hotel rooms came with a great selection of teas and luxury cake.

No negative comments.

Really nice room, well furnished and modern, plenty of space and everything we needed, very comfortable bed and lovely views across the valley. Bus stop very close outside to get in to Holmfirth (or Huddersfield) to save taking the car. We were also walking distance to the local vineyard where they do tours. In itself a lovely pub with very nice reasonably priced food and excellent breakfasts. Hosts were really friendly and helpful and we'd definitely stay again if we're up that way.

Accidentally set off the fire alarm with the shower - was our fault as it just needed the bathroom door to be shut. Also minor thing that I forgot to mention to the owner when I was there, but the bathroom door hinges could do with a bit of WD40 as they creaked a bit in the night - not really noticeable in the day.

Renovated and decorated to an exceptionally high standard. Immaculate throughout. Very comfy bed, wonderful shower. We very much liked the cakes that were left in our room upon arrival. All the staff couldn't have been more friendly. We enjoyed a lovely meal in the evening in the restaurant, top quality food. Would definitely recommend

If I had to be really picky, then the only negative things I could comment on is the hot water is quite scolding hot and the toilet seat wasn't fitted very well

Really enjoyed our stay at the pickled pheasant! We loved the four poster drift wood bed. It was super comfy and we both said how well we slept! The bath was brilliant, it was a huge roll top bath and next to the window (but under the windowsill so you were hidden) and you could lie in the bath and still see the pretty view of the hills and the temple spa products in the room were such a treat! In the morning, two lovely people met us for breakfast and we were seated next to the log fire. Breakfast was spot-on and set us up for the day. It's definitely the little things that all add up such as the brownie bar, beautiful cups in the room and good quality bedding that made it a joy for us to stay. We will definitely be back as it's a half way spot for us to meet up with family. Thank you to all at the pickled pheasant!

Gorgeous room, spacious, comfortable and clean. With a beautiful bathtub by the window with lovely views. Very peaceful and quiet (we couldn't hear the noise from the pub at all). Very welcoming members of staff, friendly and polite. Great breakfast menu (including veggie options) in the morning, and evening food was delicious. Free car park just outside the pub.

Everything was great but we would have liked a slightly later check out (10:30am is very early compared to the usual 12 in other hotels, especially after NYE :) The pub has a restaurant vibe more than a cosy countryside pub, it's lovely but not exactly what we were after! Overall a great stay anyway!

Beautiful large room, very clean and great roll top bath and 4 poster. Really tastefully done. Lovely staff serving at dinner. Helpful fornlocal knowledge. Nice location for walks and for Holmfirth.

Could do with more of a pub snug area rather than all just food tables. It would have been nice to have a cold/ cereal/ granola/ pastries/ yoghurt option for breakfast rather than just all hot cooked.. However, realise that just personal preference.
