Hotel was close to our venue, we booked here for two nights originally, and then decided to book another night. So we would have to change rooms. On arrival the lady on duty sorted us out to stay in one room throughout our visit.Room was cosy and bedding was clean and bed was very comfy, towels was very clean. We had a full English which was very nice. The young man serving in the mornings was very polite and pleasant.. In the bar a wide choice of drinks and the gentleman serving was also polite and pleasant. Thankyou to all staff for a pleasant stay Hotel is old in features which is what we like.

A bit tight on parking

Check in was very easy. Nice friendly staff. Rooms were upstairs overlooking a road, however very little traffic noise. Rooms were presented well and were clean with good toilet, shower and wash facilities. Comfy bed, albeit, a little too soft for me personally. Decent menu for food in the day / evening time and a great cooked breakfast the following morning. Good selection of beers and lagers. Good sized car park. Easy check out, in no way were we rushed out. Very nice and relaxed stay and good value for money.

As we were above the bar area, there was some noise from people downstairs but nothing too disturbing.

We had a lovely 2 night stay at the George and Horn, our 2nd visit as stayed last year. The staff were amazing, putting a lovely 'Happy Anniversary' certificate on our bed with extra biscuits, such a kind and thoughtful gesture of the new housekeeping lady...thank you so much. And thank you to the manageress and lovely bar and chef lady (so sorry forgot your names) for keeping the kitchen open later so we could eat at 9pm after a long journey...you were all amazing and so very thoughtful thank you so very much. The pub is in the beautiful village of Kingsclere and so brilliantly situated for going to Highclere Castle, Basingstoke and Newbury, so central. The pub is so lovely oldy world, and you get a great cooked breakfast or choice of alternative hot food. It's a no frills, buy good down to earth comfortable hotel. But the great staff are the making of it. Thank you and see you again.

Location - we went to Carfest for the weekend but didn’t want to camp. The pub was a 15 minute easy drive. The breakfasts were great. Some of the politest and friendliest staff!

It could do with an overhaul but what do you want for the price? It was a perfect base for our needs. The beds were clean and very comfy. We were lucky to stay in the outbuilding which I would request if possible. The staff were great and I will book again for next year

I have stayed at this location on three separate occasions now and always found it to be exactly what i wanted. The staff are always friendly and helpful, and the food offered is always excellent, fresh and delicious, this trip i had a mixed grill which was top class and more than even my healthy appetite could manage. The rooms are adequate and comfortable, and i slept like a log after my long journey and equally long shift at work. The breakfast was excellent as ever, presented well and set me up for the day. All in all a first class stay and one i will be repeating very sson.

The location may be a little too quiet for some, its in a small hamlet about 30 minutes from Reading, for those of us who like a little bit of peace and quiet its ideal.

Although basic, everything was done to make us welcome and comfortable. The staff were excellent especially Raj who made us laugh many times. The coffee machine broke down and occasionally there was a nasty smell in the room, from the tank system we think but nothing to put us off staying there again. The food was excellent which we didn't expect so that was a bonus.

Not too much really, lovely quaint place to stay.

It was a Friday evening and the bar atmosphere was on a high for most of the evening. The landlady was particularly helpful, cheerful and a keeping the happy customers mostly under control, although between the hours of 10pm and 11:45pm it was a very long wait to send people on their way home. Had my wife been with me, this would have been an issue. I assume other less popular nights of the week would not be a problem. Both the dinner and breakfast were of a good standard and the beer was first class. At £55 this was very fair value for a single room occupant.

Just the late night noise, which was unavoidably close to the bedroom.

The property was the perfect location for our event. We had a party to attend at the Fieldgate Centre which was 10-15 walk away. Staff were exceptionally friendly.

Could do with a bit of TLC. Bar was great. Rooms were clean but dusty behind furniture and TV, hand soap dispensers needed in bathroom. We expected to take our own toiletries but not basics like hand soaps.

Modest and simple, quaint and friendly. Lovely warm room, really good price - especially considering I booked last minute, and breakfast was included! Really enjoyed my stay, will definitely be staying again some time in the future ☺️

A bar of soap or some hand soap would have been nice in the bathroom. But it's not a deal breaker for me, especially with the complimentary shower gel which I used instead!

This isn't the Ritz. But thought this was smashing place. Proper old style community pub, welcoming pretty decent beer, food for the evening was slightly pricey but was really tasty. Breakfast proper spot on and included in the price which in itself was great value. Will stay again if in this area

Probably not the sort of place the wife would like (she's not a pub fan), the room was a little small and could do with decorating but, it was absolutely fine for me. This is an old building you need to appreciate that and really that's part of the appeal.
