Nice place, quiet and clean. I loved the spa facilities. Our room was on first floor and quiet. We tried to request first floor room but they said it would be decided on the day. When we arrived we were given a room next to parking and mentioned it to reception. They were very nice to relocate us on first floor so there was no problem.

It's a bit tricky to get a nice room.for a romantic getaway we booked a double room and we got one that was next to parking so it was noisy.Thankfully the reception was very understanding and they moved us to another room on first floor with a bit more space and very quiet. There needs to be a bit more consistency about the hotel rules as we got a leaflet with some times for the spa and it was not right. Also was told to wear masks in common areas but when we got there no one was wearing.

The hotel staff were all very friendly and helpful despite being busy with another large group and a football team. They did everything they could to deal with our requests. The restaurant/bar staff were particularly helpful. Food was great and quick particularly given numbers.

The rooms in the wing overlooking the Nuffield Health car park were very warm, we tried opening windows and AC but neither helped. You could feel the change in temperature as soon as you opened the door to that wing from the rest of the hotel. The public rooms in the rest of the hotel and we understand the bedrooms in the other wing did not have this problem.

The hotel is in a wonderfully deceptive rural setting although only minutes away from the town centre. THe building has the air and look of an old stately home. Beautiful oak panelling, high ceilings and masses of space. Although there was a wedding going on in the conference suite the main hotel seems quiet, roomy and tranquil. Room was huge with a lovely lounge/seating area as well as large double and single beds. Lovely and quiet. Wifi was free, facilities were fantastic and staff were brilliant. Bath as well as shower was a wondeful treat.

I missed having a fridge. (I hate hotel UAT milk so always bring my own but had nowhere convenient to store it) Tea-making and TV were a little small and basic.

This was our third stay for Family Weddings and the staff on arrival were just lovely a big thank you to Holly she was so helpful. The room was very clean lovely comfortable bed and plenty of space . Food was good from the bar on the first evening we were there and breakfast lovely fresh and good choice .Johanna was lovely and very helpful on the day when we checking out infact all the reception staff were lovely .

We understand the building is very old it just needs a little TLC and with covid I'm sure it's been very had to get back up and running. 1 male staff member ( I didnt get his name )at breakfast could do with a bit more training as he was not very friendly and kept taking our plates before we could finish if you took a break eating he took the plate from you and a smile wouldn't go astray . Children using the tables as a play area was also an issue at breakfast and small children having training sessions from their parents at the coffee machine while people were trying to get there breakfast drink was a problem.

The suite that we were given was absolutely fantastic the service that was provided was outstanding. The food especially, breakfast was so delicious and there was nothing that you would miss. So surprised to see fresh smoked salmon cream cheese and a huge range of fruits full breakfast complete array of jams and cereals this place I cannot fault. The health spa minutes around the corner was so relaxing and available each day at no extra fee. Honestly all I can say is I'm looking forward to going back there again next month. Well done all staff but especially the petite lady at the front desk. Thank you so much for making our anniversary extra special. Xoxo

The only thing I didn't like was that I had to go home as if I could I would have stayed a few more days.

Well what can i say - 100% fantastic!! 5 stars!! The Car park is large and there is plenty of spaces and i didnt fear for my car parking there. The moment you walk in to the hotel it smells clean and fresh with no dirty smells or musk. The staff are welcoming and wonderful. The room had easy access for any one that struggles on there feet or has heavy luggage. The Room was sooooo large and cool with the air con not being to loud. The shower super hot and toasty, the Bathroom Clean, The room was clean, the tea and coffee facilities were clean, the views and gardens stunning. The internet good and did its job. The bed!!! the best part SUPER COMFY and perfect. its the first time i have sat and slept on a bed that was so good. great black out curtains and the TV worked. The Pool and Gym thats there Fantastic!!! 100% recommend this hotel and its facilities. Breakfast is Buffet and there is lots of choice to pick from and hot drinks and two cold apple and orange. Atmosphere was calm and relaxing and was great to just unwind in. I had a great time there and almost wished i was staying there longer it was so good, it was everything i wish other hotels and accommodation's could be.

Now only a few things to point out as the hotel was just so darn good! The gap under the door was so large that if any one was walking past your room you heard them. so as you can image if your trying to sleep it can be frustrating. Also the couple in the room above could be heard making love and then there TV was really loud (but they then left their room so peace was retuned.) The food and drink prices are super high!! A simple Malibu and Coke cost me £6 and a Bottle of water and a J20 £7 then as there was NO food shops or restaurant's nearby i ordered a fish and chips that came to £18 - that i found a little disappointing if I'm being Honest. Breakfast was a buffet Great!! But at £12+ i expect it to be hot this was warm / verging on cold otherwise i cant knock it.

The included access to the Nuffield Health Centre is just excellent - a large swimming pool with lane swimming and a sauna & steam room were much appreciated after a long drive. The opening hours are also long, enabling even an early morning swim too.. The welcome was good, the old part of the hotel is charming. A nice terrace to sit & have a drink + picnic benches.

The only thing I didn't like & this is not the hotels fault - is the fire doors in the corridors that slam shut! This woke me several times - perhaps some soft closing mechanism could be fixed to the hinges?

We visited for our 20th anniversary getaway and the hotel went above and beyond to make us feel very welcomed and very special indeed!!! We were gobsmacked! They upgraded our rooms and when we walked in, the bed was beautifully decorated like it was a honeymoon suit with rose petals and towel swans. The room was exceptional, spacious, clean, and more than we imagined. The dinner was tasty and so was the breakfast. Beautiful surroundings too. The lady at reception was so sweet and friendly. Loved the location too. THANK YOU!!!! We'll be back for sure 😉

NOTHING.

The staff were very friendly and attentive. We went on a Sunday night and it was quiet but the staff still offered to open the restaurant for us if we wanted. We ate delicious steak in the bar area (we didn't feel we needed the restaurant just to ourselves) and had a few drinks. The breakfast buffet the following morning was tasty and well managed. We also used the pool and gym (the reason we booked here) and having read previous reviews, brought an ID and towel, and found using the facilities easy. I know people previously had an issue with this but there are signs up in the hotel now to make it clear. The room is a little old fashioned but tasteful and spacious.

The mattress was okay but could have been better.

The staff are very friendly and very helpful even did a copy of local street map . A very good Hotel for taking the dog too . Great grounds for exercising and very friendly dog friendly hotel . The restaurant is a big plus too foods first class ,try thr Rump of Lamb well worth it ... And add the breakfast you definitely won't be disappointed....

Nothing springs to mind stayed several times now . I think the distance given too the Sygnet hospital Stevenage should be reviewed as it's well under estimated.... Otherwise all is well and good recommended
