The staff were lovely and accommodating. The rooms themselves were beautiful, cosy and comfortable with a nice cottagey vibe. The little touches really raise it above a lot of other places. Our room had a fridge, supplied with fresh milk for teas and coffees. A nice coffee maker and coffee pods were also supplied. Loved the shower room, and the high end toiletries supplied. Breakfast was included in the price, but we also ate at the restaurant. The food was phenomenal, and the servers were very attentive at both breakfast and dinner. We had a fantastic night's sleep. We were attending a festival nearby and chose the Crown to recharge before a long train journey to Glasgow. Absolutely excellent, I hope we can stay again next year too.

Only had a few slight niggles. These are very small things that won't affect an otherwise fantastic review. The toilet seat was askew, which gave me a wee fright when I sat down. Given the quality of everything else, I'm sure staff weren't aware. We were in room 5. I thought maybe there should be instructions on how to use the coffee machine for the uninitiated. Figured it out eventually! And it would have been helpful if the opening and closing times of the restaurant were printed on the information sheet in full. It only had the breakfast times printed, and room service is available only as long as the restaurant is open.

The room was comfortable and clean, with coffee machine and kettle, fridge with milk and bottled water. The staff all wore smiles and offered assistance when needed, from housekeeper to management.

Prices for dining were definitely in the category of "pushing the boat out". A one-off was a luxurious treat. Well presented and delicious but £85+ for 2 steaks, with chips, a mushroom, half a tomato, watercress (why?) some onion rings, a lager and a Guinness? Sadly overpriced. Breakfast was included in the room price. It was good, but again overpriced (we saw the menu) for what we got.

It was a pleasant surprise, to be offered a cooked breakfast on the Friday morning as well as Saturday. I had the continental breakfast on Friday, cooked on Saturday; my wife had cooked both times. They were beautifully, elegantly presented by friendly staff. The same goes for the dinner we had on our first evening. Great food, and very comfortable, tasteful surroundings in both dining area and our room. No ordinary pub, this!

There was honestly nothing we didn't like! It's not a complaint, but the butter was straight from the fridge so hard to spread on our toast! Hardly worth mentioning, but you did ask!

Lovely well appointed room. Appreciated the in-room refreshments especially the fresh milk and bottled water. Bed and linens very comfy. Staff were really friendly and helpful and breakfast was delicious!

Online menu and in-restaurant menu were slightly different. Had we ordered room service this would have caught us out. Would have liked to be able to turn off the porch light as it seemed wasteful having it on all night and was disturbing. Glad we were not staying in summer as the rooms are right next to the beer garden and would have felt very public and noisy.

Room was lovely, self contained with own entrance from the pub beer garden. Very clean. Excellent bathroom. Good coffee machine and all amenities thought of. Enjoyed the fantastic homemade breakfast, could not fault it. had cooked breakfast with homemade hash brown, delicious sausages, poached eggs, my partner had the delicious avocado on toast and bacon and pancakes. All the staff we came across and messaged in advance were friendly and helpful.

We were in a party of 6, everyone praised the staff, friendly from the minute you arrived at reception, the bar, dining and breakfast. The rooms were spacious, with a modern bathroom and good facilities. Small touches like hair straighteners aswell as a hairdryer. Excellent tea and coffee making facilities, including nespresso. The mini fridge contained fresh milk and bottled water. The dining area was comfortable. Good choice of traditional pub food, except they had run out of our favoured fish pie, but the staff were attentive and we enjoyed our get together for the three couples . The cooked breakfast was excellent, agreed by all. But I believe only available at weekends. All in all a very pleasant overnight stay.

There were no negative factors if you accept that the rooms were not inside the pub, but a separate converted stables block.

The rooms are really well decorated with modern facilities, the shower was excellent and the room was extremely clean, the staff are very helpful and seemed very happy which is a pleasant change.

The cooked Breakfast was not very warm weirdly for a cooked full English the tomato was not even cooked?? and the coffee was also not very hot, both of which was very disappointing as on my previous stay the breakfast was amazing.

Everything was perfect! Very comfortable room equipped with everything one could wish for. Dinner was served ‘with a smile’ and there is a good choice of meals well cooked and tasty. I particularly appreciated the partitioning in the restaurant which made conversation much easier with more privacy.

Nothing. However a friend was uncomfortable in the bar whilst listening to loud conversation which included a number of unnecessary expletives. I have frequently found this a problem and feel it should be challenged even it means losing custom.

very clean room and restaurant in the pub so no need to leave in the evening to find food. for s was fantastic too and staff very helpful. room was clean and done out in a lovely interior design and detail down to a wicker basket holding hairdryer and straighteners. coffee machine appreciated and fresh milk and mini fridge

windows opposite pub garden so couldn’t leave open or curtains open as there were pub goers in the garden and music until 11pm. had to shut windows and curtains immediately for privacy so net curtains or blinds would help and maybe a fan or air- conditioning unit

Very friendly and helpful staff. The room contained unexpected extras such as a fridge, safe and hair straighteners. The food in the restaurant was excellent - we had booked a table for 2 which we increased to 3 and then to when friends to join us at short notice. This was done very quickly when we requested the increase and food was served quickly. Amazing service. Would recommend the Crown to anyone wanting to stay in the area.
