Historic building of importance - Scotland Yard Police Station like a museum - newly renovated to a very high standard. Not too huge and very cosy. The reception staff were amazing

I liked it all

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Great Scotland Yard hotel. The location was excellent. There is easy access to 4 different tube line via two stations: Charing Cross and Embankment. There are many sights to see within walking distance. The room was clean, the water hot with lots of pressure and the beds were super comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

The tissues provided in the room were pretty stiff, but this is true of many hotels.

Central location, easy walking to theatres, tourist spots etc. Excellent rooms with high level of cleanliness and facilities. Staff generally very obliging and friendly. Would certainly stay here again.

Nothing to dislike about the property at all. The only odd glitch we had was arranging a pre theatre meal on the Saturday of our stay proved impossible. Despite ringing on three occasions prior to stay and asking at check in on the day of arrival,it didn’t happen! Some mysterious individual called the food/dining coordinator was either busy, absent, at a meeting or failed to call back. it seems likely if we had spoken to a concierge on arrival they would have fixed it - they were brilliant!

Fabulous, great location, room was well decorated and lovely. Very clean, and a good maid service. Great shower and the bed was extremely comfy. Breakfast selection is fresh and tasty. Majority of staff polite and efficient.

Breakfast was poorly managed, 1st morning our food wasn’t brought out, when we asked where it was 45 mins later we was told the waiter had cleared the bill and said we’d finished! Weird. was hit and miss all 3 days, they ask you if you want tea etc? and sometimes it doesn’t materialise. The main waiter (Bernard I think) constantly messed everything up, we found if we asked anyone else we got our food/drinks, with him we found 75% of the time you’d be left waiting and then have to ask someone else.

Every detail thought of and taken care of. It is located in a historic building with an interesting history. The bars and restaurants were not cheap but of very high quality and with great service. The rooms were cozy and bright. Beds on the soft side maybe, but comfy. Great choice of pillows.

Breakfast was good, and if included in roomprice, ok. I wouldn't have felt happy paying what was asked for based on what we received otherwise. Everything was well presented but still fairly basic.

watch out for the additional 5% discretionary charge added to your room rate, never seen this before

Exceptionally professional, friendly, and helpful staff, from the front desk, to the restaurants, to the housekeeping, to the doormen (especially Mohamed!) The female chef of The Parlour, one of their restaurants, is extremely creative and talented. We ate there a couple of times (as we liked it so much) and had the most delicious strawberry and tomato gazpacho with ricotta; truffle arancini with black garlic mayo; quinoa; pasta alla norma; and chicken breast with portobello mushrooms. Prepare to be spoiled in your room as well. The shower is so incredibly relaxing and spacious. The toilet includes a heated seat and bidet. The twin beds are oversized and have a thick mattress topper. The location of the hotel is very central. We look forward to returning to this lovely hotel.

We could have used a little more space for our suitcases / something to set our suitcases on.

Location could hardly be better. At the bottom of the street you're opposite Downing Street, looking to the left you have The Houses Of Parliament and to the right Trafalgar Sq and the National Gallery, yet the hotel is perfectly calm and quiet! Plus inside the hotel there is quirkiness to stimulate the senses and imagination. Lovely history.

The milk in the refrigerator in my bedroom had gone off. Staff in the breakfast room were at first inattentive but warmed up and gave great service. Although tables were wiped down crumbs from flakes of pastry from previous diners were all over the seats.

Location and presentation of the hotel is outstanding and well worth the price we paid. We looked at hotels which were less than half the price and had breakfast included but felt it was worth paying out for the special occasion we were celebrating. We had breakfast elsewhere as the additional £30 each seemed steep having paid more than we normally would for a hotel and we were only in London for one night. We spent £40 in the little continental cafe on Whitehall.

Maybe breakfast included in the price?

I would of liked to see fresh milk for teas and coffees and a selection of biscuits would of been nice My real bug bearer was the towels and robes I’m in the laundry industry myself and would never send out hard towels and robes they were really rough also the robes were quite small fitting
