A warm welcome, lovely staff who were very engaging and always helpful. A comfortable room with a lovely spacious bathroom. For us, a perfect location. A beautiful hotel, very clean. This was a first visit for us and we would definitely return.

Breakfast was just ok. On one occasion we had to queue and were directed through to the bar for self service coffee but there were no cups available. Lazy preparation of melon (rind left on), only one flavour of jam on offer, ‘toast’ was just like warm bread, hardly toasted at all. Breakfast was included with the booking but I wouldn’t opt for this again. After returning to the hotel one night we would have liked to relax in the palm court area however we were not permitted access due to a private function - there was no one there. On our last evening we looked forward to dining in Galvin however we were informed it was only open for lunch. So we went to Burr instead and were told many of the items were not available as the menu was changing the next day so choice was limited.

I was a little surprised to be asked to pay a service gratuity when I checked out. I said I hadn’t expected it and was then told it wasn’t compulsory. I had stayed 4 nights and it was 60 pounds but not clear how this sim was arrived at. So I declined to pay it. I think that if this is to be requested it should be advised in advance, ideally on booking but if not then, at check in or through a note in the room. I mentioned it to a few well travelled friends and they were also a little surprised to learn of the practice, apparently not having encountered it themselves in other hotels.

The staff were really sweet and thoughtful. They realized it was my birthday, and sent me a delicious brownie with a birthday message. I arrived in the morning, and asked if I could get a room faster than my check-in time. I wasn't hoping for one, just asking in case I could. And they called me, I think 1 or 2 hours before check-in time to inform me that my room was ready. I was really grateful for such good service. The hotel, of course, has beautiful and luxurious interiors, and the location is central, near the Russell Square station.

The room felt a bit too basic for a hotel that has exceptionally beautiful halls, mozaic floors, marble staircases, and classic exteriors. I was a bit disappointed when I first entered the room.

One of the most beautiful hotels in London for sure. Beautiful marble columns, grand staircases, fireplace and art deco style. Restaurants on site were elegant with fantastic menus, and Fitz Bar is one of the best in the city. So much attention to detail. The beds were comfy and bathrooms spacious with large showers.

Our deluxe queen room was a little small for the nightly rate. We also wished that access to the Fitz bar wasn’t always on a pre-booked only basis. We stayed a few years ago and the bar was always open to guests, but that policy seems to have changed. Would have enjoyed our experience better if some tables in the restaurant and bar were kept as walk-in priority for guests at the hotel given the premium we are paying for the rooms (and what should be the amenities of the hotel).

Breakfast was excellent and healthy and the staff did their best to make everyone’s experience good during busy breakfast rush. The rooms are tasteful and comfy beds.

Housekeeping did not replenish my towels nor amenities daily…

The hotel is very nice with great decor and the staff are very friendly and helpful .The location is good, opposite a small park and it’s easy to walk to many of the London sights

The food in the restaurant and cafe was a disappointment. It was overpriced and cooking was of pub standard rather than 5 star hotel. We had lunch in the main restaurant and tried to order a bottle of wine but they didn’t have any of the first and 2nd choice and had to just accept a bottle they had

It is a stunning building with rich links for me — my father stayed there as an American soldier during the Second World War — and the staff were exceptionally attentive. Umar merits special praise. He helped with my bags, brought an extra chair to my room, helped my son find me in the Palm Court and even lugged my suitcase to the Tube for me! Kind, quick, gentlemanly. The Christmas Day meal in that room just like the one on the Titanic was superb. Again, food and staff were remarkable. The staff are proud of the hotel’s history.

Everything was wonderful throughout the hotel on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day — perfect, really — but after I checked out at noon on Boxing Day the lunch service in the cafe was not up to the standard it had been in the restaurant. Tables are close together, the room was chilly and we had difficulty enjoying it.

One of the staff insisted that we only had 3 breakfasts included even though we were 4 people staying. They insisted that the rooms were only for 3 registered people and that was how it was. I was very sure that the rooms were booked for 4 people. It gave me a bit of anxiety and I had to call booking.com to resolve the issue. Later I checked with another staff again and they said all was good. It was a panic for nothing. I hope they would have been less affirmative on things that they weren’t sure of.

Bathrooms were nice, hotel is beautifully designed. Housekeeping accidentally melted by phone charger by wrapping it around a bed-lamp but they replaced it immediately. Great service, great location.

The rooms are incredibly tiny. Possibly the smallest hotel room I've ever stayed in, and I wasn't even in the smallest room they offer. Make sure to bring one small suitcase (or less) because even if you unpack, there is no place to keep the suitcase.

Superb architecture and interior and very friendly staff. we loved the museum area and the choice of many different places to relax in the public areas. Breakfast was lovely.

We were rather disappointed by the provision of tea/ coffee facilities which was quite meagre for a hotel of this calibre. Only 2 coffee capsules and 4 English Breakfast Teas were left in the room, and 2 sweeteners. plus a very small carton of milk. Yes we asked for more but it would have been better not to have to. And why were there no biscuits? Almost every hotel provides some tasty biscuits - the bags of popcorn just didn’t fulfil the same role - who has tea and popcorn? We enjoyed the one bar of chocolate. The bathroom was nicely appointed but it was impossible to take a shower without water leaking out onto the bathroom floor - we had to mop it up with towels or it would have spread everywhere.
