A classic, characterful backpacker's hostel. Loved the quirky decor and sense of atmosphere, and the beds, while rather firm, were surprisingly warm and comfortable for a place in this price bracket. Location is great, just round the corner from Edgware Road and only a couple of minutes from the tube station.

It didn't bother me personally, but the stairs up to the rooms are steep and kind of narrow so the Phoenix might not be an ideal choice if you have any mobility restrictions.

Since the moment we arrived we felt very welcome. There is a friendly atmosphere, breakfast for only £3 and the fact there is always someone at the reception desk 24/7 where you can buy beverages make the stay easy and simple. The staff at The Phoenix Hostel is always willing to help, with positive attitude and smile on their face. During our stay we had the pleasure and luck to meet and have fun time with Susa "Hermosa", who gave us tips and information of where to go and save some money. Jordi very energetic guy, running around the place and making sure that the beds are ready and clean. Sam, we met him at the night shift, full of warm, kindness and lovely vibe. Sasha, very caring, open, helpful and full of life person. Ben, super fun and talkative character who will make your stay at The Phoenix Hostel unforgettable from the moment you step in. We enjoyed the experience of being in this place where you can feel like you're part of "Friends" tv show. Thank you all guys for putting so much effort to make this place a perfect stop for traveling backpackers. Love, kisses and hugs Jan&Aleja

The atmosphere is immaculate. I don’t know if it’s something to do with the staff or the communal space layout. Such a friendly and welcoming space to be in. Met a lot of people here and the staff are genuinely caring and accommodating. Shoutout to the main geezer Derry behind the bar and Ben for some much needed motivation.

Nice chilled vibe.Very clean bathrooms and room cleaning by Sam and Valentine very helpful members of staff.Central location three nearby stations for Bakerloo and Central and District lines

As this is a budget priced hostel you get a mixed bag of customers so if you are doing anything online put your security on.Also at night its better to shop in Lisson Grove supermarket and use their cashpoint rather than Edgware Road due to pickpocketing in Edgware Road.As in all city central location same rules apply.

Staff has a lot to say for themselves which is always nice and makes guests feel comfortable. They even got involved in our laughing and joking which was really welcoming as a guest. They helped me change from an all male room to a female room when I was informed there was space and helped me each morning with the time as I had had my phone stolen. Staff went out of their way to ensure guests felt comfortable and that was really lovely to see.

The breakfast was cheap at 3 pounds but could have included a little variety. Maybe some fresh fruits.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at a hostel where the receptionist, Zu truly made my experience exceptional. From the moment I stepped foot into the hostel, Zu warm and welcoming smile immediately put me at ease. Zu professionalism and efficiency were evident throughout my stay. She effortlessly handled check-ins and check-outs, ensuring that every guest received prompt and personalized attention. What impressed me the most was her ability to multitask seamlessly - I never saw her flustered, even during peak hours. Not only was Zu incredibly organized, but she also possessed a wealth of knowledge about the local area. Her recommendations for nearby attractions and restaurants were spot-on, and she even went the extra mile to provide directions and tips for getting around the city. Her enthusiasm for her job and the place she called home was contagious, making me even more excited to explore the area. What truly sets Zu apart is her genuine care for the guests. She took the time to engage in friendly conversations, making sure everyone felt comfortable and valued. Whether it was sharing stories about her own travels or simply providing a listening ear, Zu created a friendly and inclusive atmosphere that made the hostel feel like a home away from home. In addition to her exceptional customer service skills, Zu attention to detail was impeccable. The hostel's common areas were always clean and inviting, thanks to her diligent efforts. She made sure that everything was in order, from fresh towels to well-stocked amenities, ensuring that guests had a comfortable and enjoyable stay. Zu positive energy and dedication to her role truly made my stay at the hostel memorable. Her exceptional customer service skills, knowledge of the local area, and genuine care for guests made me feel valued and well taken care of. I have stayed in many hostels before, but Zu exceptional service has set a new standard for me.

Everything was great

The location is perfect right in the middle of central so its literally a walking distance to almost all hotspots in Central so you can walk to China Town, soho , picadilly circus within 20 minutes the area is a bit pricey but the area is pretty safe the local people are friendly and Edgware road is forever buzzing with lots of people and good vibes. Shout out to Tyrone, Ben and ion fro making me feel welcome.

In all honesty i have nothing bad to say about this hostel because my time their has been incredible but the only thing I would suggest is maybe upgrade the interior design of the hostel e.g new furniture and appliances etc but other than that I have no complaints .

Phoenix Hostel exceeded expectations with its prime location, quiet surroundings, and nearby bars. The staff, especially Angel and Zu, were fantastic—welcoming and chatty. Impeccable cleanliness and a lively atmosphere made my stay truly enjoyable.

While Phoenix Hostel has its strengths, a minor drawback was the limited storage in the rooms, especially lacking lockable options. Additionally, while the location is prime, Marylebone does not align with personal preferences for movement and activities in London.

Receptionist was a zen master, she was dealing everything, alone! people were checking in, checking out, walking in, ordering drinks, she was answering the phone, dealing with difficult customers and organising taxis, the list goes on.... Basically it took me almost one-hour to check in, because there was only this one incredible woman dealing with everything. And when she eventually got to me I was received with polite professionalism without a trace of frustration.... unfortunately I was not a simple check in either, there had been a mix up with the dates, but this was resolved quickly at no extra charge or penalisation. The room was clean with fresh linen on the bed.

Hard to avoid in a 15 bed dormitory.....there was snorer. My only suggestion would be to put all the snorers together because they obviously can't hear in their sleep

The owner of the hostel is incredibly nice and lovely. They made our stay truly enjoyable with their warm hospitality and helpful attitude. It's clear that they genuinely care about their guests, which adds a special touch to the overall experience.

I had a disappointing experience at the Arabic restaurant next door on Edward Road. As an Arab, I was hoping for an authentic culinary experience, but the food was far from it. Not only was it lacking in authenticity, but it was also overpriced to an extreme degree. I cannot recommend this place to anyone. If you're looking for genuine Arabic cuisine, I'd suggest you fly to the Middle East instead.
