Staff very friendly and helpful, bed was very comfortable (I meant to check the brand of the mattress so I can get one but I forgot!), free parking and perfectly situated to access the walks around Malham Cove and the tarn. Cooked breakfast was lovely with a good selection of lighter options as well. Only sticking point is the poor WiFi, which I'm sure can't be helped due to the location, and I couldn't use mobile data either as no signal. So I wouldn't stay here if you have work to do! Having said that, I did manage to stream a film on my laptop in my room. And I didn't go there to be glued to my phone or laptop anyway! I loved it and have already booked another stay!

Poor WiFi and phone signal

Lovely old building, fantastic room - excellent value for money and very well equipped for a cold night! We arrived on the snow & we understand that the owners couldn't get there, understandably. However we were looked after by a wonderful young man, Robert who is the chef at the hotel. His name is Robert and thankfully he gave us everything we needed. Excellent vegan meals for tea and breakfast. A very polite,, very caring, and a lovely young man who made our stay at the hotel a great experience. I can highly recommend the Buck Inn - we loved our stay

Nothing - all was of a high standard

The location was perfect for us and the room exceeded our expectations - huge, comfy bed! We were completing a charity walk one morning before breakfast was due to be served, the manager kindly provided us with some cereal etc the night before so we could eat something before the walk. In terms of evening meals, the food was delicious (real “pub grub”) and we felt the staff did really well to cater for everyone in the bar and restaurant, as they were really busy both nights we stayed.

A relaxed and dog friendly inn in a beautiful setting for walking. Perfect for stays with your dog. No restrictions and a comfortable overnight stay. The guy in charge was on his own due to staff shortage and faced with an extremely busy breakfast time. Hats off to him he did an amazing job and kept calm and our breakfast was delicious. Unfortunately again due to staff shortage the restaurant was closed in the evening however we were lucky enough to get a table at a different inn 1 mile up the road.

The property itself would benefit from a little tlc in places but again there seemed to only be one person working so I have no complaints. The rooms were comfortable and clean and perfect for a dog stay.

The location is beautiful. The manager James was pleasant and very hard working seemed to be doing everything.Food was good room comfotable and very clean .

The prices for everything seems a bit high everywhere you go in Mallam. The room price was for 2 people sharing needed to filter out breakfasts as these are still for 2 even though there was only 1 adult staying. Breakfast doesn't start untill 8.30 so if going out on a long walk it is a little late. Looks as though the building furnishings etc are a little tired looking and need of refurbishment.

Location was perfect, and the room was a great size. Dog friendly rooms and restaurant. Unlike some places we were given a key for the main door should the dog need to go out overnight.

Room smelled sweaty which was a bit off putting. Smell did not disappear even with an open window.

On arrival the gentleman behind the bar, and who served our evening meal was attentive and saw to our needs even when the place became busy. The room itself, apart from the lack of sockets was sizable and very comfortable.

My wide has medical equipment that needs charging over night and there was a lack of electric sockets in the room we were assigned. Granted in a building as old as this, it can be hard, however we were able to use the socket the kettle used as we don't need that in the night.

Loved the location right in the heart of the village... lovely room, amazingly comfortable and huge bed, friendly staff. Great just to wander downstairs, grab a meal, couple of pints then wander back up to watch a film...James is actually a lovely bloke despite all negative reviews, just struggles with staffing issues as does much of the hospitality industry, not helped but the remote ish location. We'll be back for sure :-)

Nothing ...

We have stayed in Malian before but this was our first time at The Buck Inn. From check in, we were made very welcome. The room was great, was minus 5 outside but warm & toasty inside. Great tea tray, various teas, coffee & biscuits. Good was lovely, decent sized portions. It's also dog friendly, which for me is a must. My dog was welcomed everywhere in The Buck Inn

My own personal opinion, but I don't like streaky bacon, which was on the full English breakfast. So I had the vegetarian option on the second day, which was excellent

We came with friends for an overnight stay over the bank holiday weekend. The Inn was ideally placed for what we needed.

We had booked Sunday lunch in advance and the menu stated that Sunday roasts had extra Yorkshire puddings, roasties and gravy. We didn't eat until 6pm and when we enquired were told extras were not available. Having pre-booked we thought they should have been able to cater for this. That said, the food we had was nice and we all enjoyed it.
