Great location and friendly staff. Good sized family room. Great large breakfast.

Shower wasn't great and main bed not overly comfortable.

The room was very comfortable, spacious, clean and looked after. The shower room was very well appointed. The beds were comfortable and a good size. Breakfast was well cooked with a wide choice of hot and cold dishes and drinks. Dinner was very enjoyable although slightly limited in choice. The public areas associated with the bar were well thought out affording private sitting areas when required.

Unfortunately, because of the hotel's location, there are no parking facilities except on the public road opposite.

We stayed 2 nights & the Station became a home from home after a very hard days walking. The beds were very, very comfortable & the shower worked a treat. The staff did all they could to make us relax and feel comfortable, food was great and the fact we were allowed to eat it, without having to move to the official dining area was very appreciated. Breakfast was perfect and the server was naturally polite & nothing was too much for her, as was the barman/check-in man.

Breakfast was lovely. We were going to a wedding and my daughter is glutin free and her cooked breakfast was lovely although her toast was touching our toast. Even crumbs from non glutin free bread can upset her badly. Separate plate please

My daughter and young granddaughter were only going to the evening wedding reception so they had a lunch in the hotel. My daughter's gluten free burger and onion rings were over cooked and she couldn't eat it and it upset her stomach.

the staff here were exceptional. particularly the breakfast lady. the room was a little dark and could be laid out better to give more room. ie. put the desk beneath where the hangers are ( no one needs all that hanger space )...the bathroom was great pillows too hard and only one. no where to plug a hairdryer in near a mirror we would stay again every one was really nice .

Our room was comfortable and very clean. The shower room was big and also very clean. The shower was good. The staff we met were friendly and helpful. They allow dogs to stay which is a plus point for us, and we were able to take her with us for breakfast. Our room was quiet.

I would have liked some fruit for breakfast. I had porridge , which was delicious, and it was served with cream and honey - a holiday treat. My husband had the cooked breakfast which was good but some Scottish produce would have been appreciated eg potato cakes or haggis or white pudding.

We have stayed here a number of times when we come down to do a cycle event. The staff are always welcoming and friendly. They also make sure that packed breakfasts are prepared as half the party leave very early. The wonderful lady who serves breakfast is also always very friendly and welcoming to my two young sons!

It is slightly aged but this should not put you off as it is always immaculately clean!

The converted rail carriage, decor and setting The hosts allowed our adult children to come in and see the property and even spend a couple of hours there before we all went to a friend's party-my husband and son even squeezed in a game of pool in the main hotel building ! Liked the touch of having a little fridge in the room. Liked the little terrace outside the carriage to sit on. Overall It is fun and romantic !

Nothing really, perhaps the sofa could have been a little comfier but the whole design was great and it was in keeping with the overall feel Some plant pots on the far side of the carriage to look out on perhaps, but that is just being fussy

A lovely hotel in a great location. The room was spotlessy clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. There was even bottles of water! The staff were friendly and helpful. There was plenty on choice for breakfast with generous portions.

A minor point. The frosted window and being able to open it which I imagine is because of the extractor fan. This was made clear in the information when booking. It clearly said that the room was next to the extractor fan, which wasn't a problem as the times it was on didn't interfere with sleeping.

The hotel has the perfect location in the heart of the lovely little town of Melrose. We had the family room, number 4, which is a good size with a very comfortable double bed and an excellent ensuite shower room. Staff were friendly and breakfast was good. The Trimontium Roman Museum is two minutes from the hotel and is a brilliant little museum full of finds from the Roman fort which is a very pleasant walk of about 45 minutes from Melrose. The museum also has fascinating videos about the fort. Plenty of cafes and restaurants nearby. And of course the beautiful ruined abbey is minutes away too. It was also good to be in a small hotel knowing it would never be swamped by coach parties.
