This was an ideal work/personal break trip, such a lovely friendly hotel, always happy to help and to make my stay very enjoyable. Food was well cooked, service was always with a smile and the room was clean and comfortable. A good location to explore the area, if you’re a walker then this couldn’t be better. I’d happily return, and I will given the opportunity.

Location, staff, accommodation. The room was a small double but perfect for me and very comfortable.

The staff were very welcoming and friendly and especially accommodating about our 3 dogs in the party. Room was perfect, at the back of the hotel but great with pets. We loved the decor and history of the hotel and there is a beautiful walk above the hotel.

No complaints at all but the bar was closed when we got home on a Friday at 10pm and we could not get anything to eat for a late lunch the following day as they had stoped serving food.

The hotel and staff were fantastic. The hotel as a whole is in a beautiful quiet setting all very well maintained. The room was spotless, cosy and comfortable. We booked to eat in the restaurant in the evening and the food was amazing. They didnt have a kids menu however the staff were happy to make something child friendly. The breakfast (continental) was included in the price and again was well set out with plenty of variety with the added option to pay for additional cooked foods. Would happily stay again if ever visiting the area. Excellent value for money!

The service was exemplary. Everyone went out of their way to be helpful. The evening meal was exceptional, so much so that we skipped the full breakfast the next day, limiting ourselves to the continental breakfast which was more than adequate and quite delicious. The hotel could be found at the end of a narrow road, opening up to a large car park.

We were on the top floor and would have preferred not to have to climb the stairs, and the room itself was quite small. This isn't a criticism as I knew this when I booked it.

A charming hotel in quiet surroundings. It felt spacious There was a good choice of cooked and other breakfasts. Staff were very helpful.

The car parking area was a short distance away but my partner has walking difficulties and, because of the layout of driving exits and entrances, it was quite a drive to be able to leave the car park, get to a point to turn back.

Staff were so friendly, welcoming and smiley. Hotel decor was fabulous and comfortable, nice bar with good beer, fabulous rose wine and lovely food, dinner, afternoon tea and breakfast! Great location, lovely bathroom and comfy bed.

Nothing it was perfect

Lovely location in the Quantock Hills. The hotel is full of character. Helpful and friendly staff. Nice comfortable room with a good view.

An extra charge for a cooked breakfast. I'd expect this to be included, especially in a hotel of this price. A continental breakfast was included, but the selection provided was disappointing. Also, a nightly charge for wifi connection in bedrooms. Again, this would normally be included in the price.

Excellent choice of dishes for breakfast. All beautifully cooked using good quality produce. The hotel is situated in a fantastic location with direct access to the forest for walking, ideal if you are travelling with dogs. All the staff were very friendly and we were made to feel very welcome with a lovely relaxing feel to the place. A little gem!!

The evening meal was beautifully cooked but if you were staying for more than a couple of nights the choice could be a little limited, especially if you are not keen on fish dishes. An extra meat dish on the specials board would be appreciated.

The location is wonderful - part way up Holford Coombe on the edge of the Quantocks. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful and the Sunday roast dinner very good. Good selection for the breakfast buffet - any hot dishes had to be paid for separately but it meant there was an excellent variety of dishes available and all freshly cooked.

No mobile phone signal and wi fi costs £2.50 a day, but this is entirely due to the location in. a deep valley in the heart of the Somerset countryside. Our room (17) at the. back of the hotel had no view and was very quirky with steps down to the bathroom - not so good if not quite awake!

Breakfast was really good lots of choice, we had dinner one of the evening's which was very good well presented and all freshly made, would definitely try to visit again for a longer stay. All the staff were so helpful and polite. Would definitely recommend to family and friends.

The only one small thing would of liked a slightly bigger room with bigger bathroom, but it was still a very pleasant stay, and very relaxing atmosphere, the grounds are well kept and very pleasant to sit and have a drink or tea and coffee, very peaceful all you could hear was birds singing and the trickling of the water over the rocks of the stream in the grounds.
