The hospitality shown was second to none. Very welcoming to us & our dogs. A lovely spot with plenty of access to local walks. Food in the pub was very good. We'll certainly be booking this again should we return to the region.

The outside space was a little overgrown. It didn't become apparent that there was a footpath sign buried in the bushes right outside leading to the local hills. It was unfortunate that breakfast wasn't offered. The weather wasn't the best.

It was in a very good position for the things we wanted to do, was a good price and the breakfast we had was very well cooked. We enjoyed it. We had a drink and a fun chat on the second evening in the bar. It was very friendly. The room was attractive and I enjoyed the walk in shower.

The car park was tricky to negotiate because there were two of us parking there. We did better getting out of it on the second day. It was okay having to walk down quite steep steps to get into our room but it would be difficult in in bad weather. We enjoyed being able to walk back to our room from inside the pub.

I traveled with my parents and my sister. This is a great inn. Unfortunately, the pub was closed on the day we stayed; but we were warned right after we booked, so that wasn't a problem - an M&S and Morrisons are 15-20 minutes drive away. The bungalow was clean, and tidy, with a great living room and a fully equipped kitchen. The parking is off-street and sufficient for two cars. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms (one walk-in shower, the other one with a bath, too) - oh, and a table football!

The ground floor bedroom had two bedside lamps, but one of them was nowhere near the wall sockets. That little (and it is little) niggle aside - all great!

The pub dates to 1572 and has original front door so it is packed with character in a delightful village. The Quantock Room has antique furniture and you sleep in a four poster bed. The bed and bedding was so comfortable I could have stayed for ever. The bath was large roomy and very well appointed with quality fittings and great shower. It was quiet, solid and full of character and charm. The staff could not have been more helpful. The menu is great and food terrific and very well priced. I ordered breakfast and was amazed to discover the chef had driven 50 miles round trip to cook it for me.

A very cosy stay in a lovely little village pub. The pub manager (Sue) was very accommodating and thoughtful. Our room was very comfortable and a good size, with lovely views across the countryside. The meals were delicious and the bar was great. The pub is in a remote village but was an excellent option for visiting family and generally exploring the area.

Nothing really. We loved our stay!

The room was pleasant surprise, a real gem of a find. Lovely valley views and an awesome antique four post bed, that was so comfortable. The room was fitted with tea, coffee, biscuits, and crisps.

The room was hard to locate. It isn’t directly attached to the Rising Sun Restaurant. Be sure to check your email to get correct directions. Unfortunately the restaurant wasn’t open for dinner or our breakfast on a Wednesday, but the location and the views made up for it.

Staff were lovely, especially Honor the manager ensuring our stay was very comfortable. All meals we had there were well presented and very tasty. There are plenty of local walks in the vicinity and wider area. Overall a very good last minute find.

The room was excellent and all the amenities, toiletries and drinks facilities were very good.

Unfortunately the restaurant was closed on a Sunday evening so we had to skip our evening meal and breakfast the following morning. If you are walking through this area on the West Dean Way I would advise staying at another location.

Female staff very helpful and manager found me a hairdryer that wasn’t in room . Saw cleaning staff on departure who were lovely 10% discount for eating was nice . Good friendly busy pub food

A fan due to such hot weather would have been useful and a mirror in the room but was all most satisfactory

Everything was tip top and clean, and the staff (and locals) were friendly and conversant. The pub/restaurant had delicious food & drink, and this charming rural inn was reasonably priced and made for an excellent two night stay.

We found nothing to not like!
