We stayed for two nights at the end of our 870-mile Wales Coast Path walk. I was in the old part of the Three Tuns in room 3, very quirky. My friend was in the new part, which was more comfortable. We love the Three Tuns. Breakfast was probably our best anywhere! The bar staff and breakfast staff were very friendly and helpful. Big thanks to all of them. Public car parking next door was good. Be aware that parking is free of charge overnight. Live music at the Three Tuns on Saturday night was great. We hope to stay there again when we start the Offa's Dyke Path, later this year.

Olde Worlde pub, the staff were excellent, nothing was too much trouble. Nice bar and selection of drinks reasonably priced with a lovely beer garden. Breakfast was amazing, superb quality, and can't fault it. Everyone was friendly & welcoming, a lovely stay. Live music is advertised, and ran as advertised with plenty of warning in the booking process. It is a pub which some other guests failed to grasp so you can expect some noise but it was very minimal. It was a bit lively on Saturday but with live music it's going to be. It's great so see an old pub so busy & popular.
A room service request was overlooked but not a massive problem anyway, we could have asked for a teabag & some milk but it didn't matter to us as we were due to go down to breakfast anyway.

Helpful staff who were very friendly to us. Comfortable, spacious, characterful, quiet room with excellent facilities. Attractive decor. Good, clear instructions booklet and guides to local attractions and facilities. Great view of the castle and well placed for easy access to the charming and interesting town of Chepstow and the River Wye.
Evidence of a bossy unfriendly attitude from a member of staff to another. Not unusual in the catering trade sadly it would seem, but still not a welcome sight in front of customers. Not to make too much of a point about this as the "bossed" member of staff didn't appear to take offence and was completely courteous and helpful to us. The plastic ferns and cacti in our room and about the place are very realistic replicas, but maybe so much use of plastic goes against the "green" ethos that the owners advertise.

Lovely old pub in prime location opposite the castle with excellent high standard accommodation next door in Ashbourne house. Great pub for beer lovers & good breakfast. Definitely the place to go for listening to music.. heard two excellent bands on the Saturday night & Sunday afternoon. Would recommend & hope to go back again.
The Henry Martin room does not have an en-suite bathroom, but does have your own bathroom across the passageway. Found this a little inconvenient. especially being elderly & slightly disabled. Three flights of stairs to our room but being an old property was to be expected. Had to go next door to the busy bar to get fresh milk which wasn’t very practical..suggested they leave long life milk in the room with the tea etc.

A really warm welcome awaited us as we were checked into the Cronwell, one of the pub's deluxe rooms in the next building. The room itself was so, so comfortable and the pub a great spot, with live music on the Sunday evening and a great atmosphere. For breakfast, you filled out a form the night before, choosing the various elements you wanted served up at a time you set between 7-9.30 and the quality of the food was great, again served by helpful, super-friendly staff. We will be back.
This is such a tiny, tiny gripe. The room had a coffee maker and kettle, with a couple of coffee pods and a few herbal teas. We would have loved some English Breakfast or something included (although the liquorice and peppermint tea bag was a revelation!)

The best thing about the Three Tuns is that it is a LITERAL stone's throw from Chepstow Castle. We walked around the outside of it at sunset when we arrived, and paid the entry fee to see the inside the following morning. We visited several castles on our trip and Chepstow was one of my favorites. The town has other cool features too, like the medieval gate you pass through to get to the Three Tuns and a wide variety of restaurants. The inn itself is over a pub, which had excellent drinks. They have a beer garden in the back yard, but it was not disruptive at all. Their event tent is currently taking up their parking lot so we had to pay for parking in the lot next door, but it was relatively cheap compared to most of the places we parked on our trip. The staff was also friendly and check-in was a breeze.
The inn dates to 1620, and the bed might be original. It slumped pretty heavily to one side. The rooms were also built long before personal bathrooms, so that was shoehorned in. The bathroom had one of those doors that splits in half so you can open just the top if you want, which helped make it feel a little bigger. If you're there for a night like we were, it's perfect. If you're trying to make Chepstow your base for a few days, you may want to find somewhere that has enough room to open your suitcase all the way.

Super location, interesting building, helpful friendly staff, amazing beer garden, wonderful real ale, fabulous breakfast - and there is an easy to use cheap car park literally next door to the pub. I am so jealous that I stayed early in the week and did not get to experience the live bands that feature each weekend.
It's not clear on Booking.com that parking is available right next to the pub - because it's not the pub's own car park - and Booking don't provide parking info unless the parking belongs to the property supplying the stay. I stressed a bit that in such a great location, I might have difficulty finding somewhere to park - so Booking, you need to be more flexible in how properties provide descriptions.

Gorgeous room above a fantastic pub, loved the separate bathroom with a roll top bath, and there was a curtain separating our room and bathroom from the corridor and other rooms for privacy. Great location right by the castle and near the river (highly recommend Panevino Italian restaurant nearby), and tasty breakfast with lots of choice, including vegetarian. Friendly, helpful staff. Bands playing regularly. Absolutely loved our stay.
Hard to think of anything! I guess some may find the old-fashioned fittings a bit inconvenient.

Found the place, ncp right next door ! Bonuscas pouring with rain ! Pub was full bing a Friday afternoon. Booking in stress free and taken to room. Proper older wordle with separate full bathroom proper old school. All centuries old wood and stone panelling, really quirky which we both love. View of Chepstow Castle from garden. Definitely worth a stay as Chepstow Town lots if bespoke shops etc and Racecourse 10 mins by vehicle.
Did not really not like anything about the place, very quirky and old fashioned which we both enjoy. We missed a trick with the breakfast as I had to work, but it did look fantastic and I believe is already included in the price.

Pub was what we expected, bit quirky but quaint. Lovely location next to the Castle. Live music was good and on the night we stayed, the vibe was great and lively. Our room was good too and had an imaginative décor. Although we were in Chepstow for a specific reason, we are only at worst 90 minutes away and would certainly pop down again for a night out.
There is car park next door and although we got parked up ok, it was a bit of a challenge, especially with a music event taking place at the Castle on the same night.
