The location, staff and facilities were really good.

Turndown service needs work, just before we settled down for the evening we found rubbish from the guests before including sex dice and old condom wrapper. if it hadn’t of been at midnight when we found this I’d of asked to change rooms but it’s not a good look cleanliness is basics!

Room was a good size with a huge bed, plenty of shops nearby, Reading train station is a short walk. We went to a London musical using the overground and underground trains, and came home quite late, but there were enough other people around so felt relatively safe on the walk back to the Penta Hotel. 24 hour reception was handy. One of the better gyms we have seen on our travels.

Would of been better if the parking arrangement was made clearer prior to booking, we still would of booked but the surprise at the counter that the parking was a short walk and the cost was subsidized by only 40% would of been better to know beforehand.

We've stayed at the Pentahotel a few times, once for an event being held there and twice for parties at The Atrium Health Club, just out of town. It is a nice modern styled , reasonably price hotel in a very central location which has it's pluses and minuses. £15 per person for breakfast is a big minus especially when the Broad Street Mall has lots of places to get food inside then there's the pedestrianised shopping centre with lots of grub places. The rooms are modern, a decent size with air blown heating and fans but not air conditioned as far as I can tell. The room controls allow on or off, 3 speed fan and temperature settin. The light shows whether it's heating or acting as a fan. It doesn't suggest any cooling. Fortunately the windows open to let the heat out if needed without opening wide enough for you to “fall" out. They have power points by the bed. A big plus in my books as my other reviews will show. I use a CPAP machine and need a bedside power source. Othrs use their phones as alarms and want it by the bed charging not on the desk opposite. People sit up in bed on their laptops. Travelodge and others please get it sorted you're not going to reduce power consumption. Right next to the hotel is The Broad Street Shopping Mall and a short walk away is the pedestrianised shopping precinct. The hotel does not have parking but has a 40% discount rate with Q Park some 300 metres away. However even with 40% off Q Park is more expensive than the council run car park at The Broad Street Mall. On today's rate Q Park wanted £19 for overnight parking where you had to quote entry and exit times. With 40% off that's still £11.40. The Broad Street Mall has a range of prices climbing to £6.10 for 4 hours then jumps to £8.10 for 24 hours so cheaper for overnight parking. It's also right next to the hotel.

The curtains dont block out all of the light from outside beit street lights at night or sunlight in the morning.

This hotel was amazing! The staff were so friendly and they were so helpful from the start. We loved the games aspect of the hotel, it was fun and inviting. Our room was huge, the bed was so comfy, loved that we had white fluffy robes and also the best part was... the 3pm check out on a Sunday, it mean't we could nurse our hangover from the night before with no rush to be out, I honestly don't know why more hotels don't offer this but it was such a great idea! Breakfast was great, offered lots of options and was super tasty!

Taps were off at the bar but that's the only thing I can think of, I loved this hotel!

Room was basic but perfectly fine, bed was very comfortable and large. Only stayed for the one night and can't fault it. The free games in the hotel lobby were fantastic, (table tennis, pool, pin ball + others) and made for a very enjoyable and sociable evening. The reception staff were excellent at check in and very helpful giving out information. Close to town and very close to the Hexagon if you're going to see something there (purpose of our trip). Didn't find a lot of pubs/bars and restaurants on the doorstep, but only being there for the one night I could have missed them.

The corridors are all a little dimly lit, it seemed very dark. The bar staff later on in the evening were poorly trained. I didn't pay the same price for identical rounds once! But they could have been brand new.

The room was very spacious and had everything that I needed to enjoy my stay. T.V. tea and coffe making facilities, hairdryer, bottled water and air conditioning. The bed was one of the most comfortable that I slept on in a hotel, very large and nice and firm. The room was very clean and smelt fresh throughout my stay. I had a peaceful night with very little, if any, noise from other guests. The lifts were large and spacious and easily accessible.

Very minor point, but the floof of the shower can become very slippery. There wasn't a mat to use in the shower available in my room and obviously by the time I realised that I might need one, I was already in the shower.

Breakfast was amazing & room was very comfy & shower was superb & had a great nights sleep. The staff were friendly & helpful too when needed thank you.

Taking pre-payment for my room & then making me pay again at check-in. But got a free stay out of it for next time so no worries I forgive them for their mistake. I also didn’t like the cards to enter your room as they didn’t work upon returning to my room on two consecutive nights. Whatever was wrong with using door keys? Didn’t get this hassle from them.

Was made to feel very welcome. My room was ready as soon as I arrived. I was there to attend an event which was well organised. The room was lovely and comfortable. I really enjoyed the breakfast. Checking in and out was really easy

The only issue I had was with parking. I couldn’t get into the car park recommended by the hotel. So I parked at the car park at the Oracle shopping mall. When I tried to get out it told me that my ticket had already been used. When I finally got in touch with someone, they said it was because I stayed overnight. It is advertised as an overnight car park and it is but seemed to cause a problem letting me out. Just thought it might be worth you knowing in case it happens to any of your other guests

The whole atmosphere of the place, the room was spacious and clean. Bed was huge and comfortable. Breakfast was great, wide selection and good vegan options. On contacting the hotel on our return regards the over charge, fast response stating would refund and apologised.

The air conditioning was loud, and unfortunately, opening the widow was not a good option for too long, as noisy traffic. There was also a large crack in the bathroom sink. There was confusion at checking due to the amount being incorrect. The member of staff explained that breakfast had already been added, so that was fine. Only to discover on our bank statement that we had been charged for breakfast separately, too.

Staff, room and downstairs facilities were excellent.

I booked a twin(2 men) and our room was a double. They moved our room, which was fine, but our new room had no power and no aircon. They gave us a fan, which was broke, after power was restored to the room they then gave us another fan which worked. The room was 27 degrees and we couldn't open the window. It was way too hot and stuffy in there. Small problems, I know, but we will be staying there again next year because we both thought that the hotel was excellent compared to others I have stayed in in Reading.
