August 2023

We didn’t have breakfast. There was a 24hr multi storey carpark just around the corner. We were able to pull up in front of hotel and drop off our bags and check in then park the car. After that we walked to everything, attractions within walking distance to castle and old inn etc

The rooms are so hot, a fan was provided on the desk and had to run all night. Only a hot doona on the bed, just a top sheet is all that is needed. It is the middle of summer!! Winter doona not needed. couldnt open the windows to get ventilation as on street level with people passing by and noisy trucks and cars.

This was our first visit to the hotel, stayed for the 1 night as visiting the Motor Point Arena to see Peter Kay (Fantastic performance by Peter) Pleasantly greeted by George, a very polite and approachable person. We were presented with a courtesy bottle of wine with a choice of either red or white and a welcome hand written card which was a lovely appreciative touch. We stayed in Room 39 which was a lovely, quiet, spacious room on the top floor to the rear of the hotel building. There is a lift for access. We had lunch in the Cock & Hoop bar/restaurant, we chose to have a light lunch as we were booked in for dinner. We chose a croque fromage sandwich (Cheese and chutney) basically a toasty, this took around 40 minutes to arrive and I have to say it wasn't the best. The dinner however was the opposite, we chose the rib, served with fries and coleslaw which was very enjoyable, as was the breakfast. Overall a most enjoyable stay, all the staff were courteous and helpful, the hotel and room were exceptionally clean and well presented, would definitely stay again and can highly recommend.

It was my husband’s birthday and as soon as we arrived we were made to feel special. The two members of staff on the reception desk were so friendly and bubbly, when we said who we were the man said happy birthday and informed us that they had upgraded our room. This felt extremely special and we are so grateful. We stayed in room 21 which is a studio room, Wow how fantastic that was 🥰 it was spotlessly clean and in a great location. We had a bit of lunch downstairs in the cock and hoop pud which is also amazing 🤩 we went into Nottingham for food and slept lovely in the comfy bed. We went down for breakfast in the morning and was greeted by such a lovely happy man who explained the breakfast to us and found us a table. The service is fantastic and the guy couldn’t do enough for us. THANKYOU X

There was nothing we didn’t like.

We stayed in another hotel for a few nights over the weekend but that was fully booked so we booked here for one night to extend our weekend away. Lovely location and check-in was smooth. Our room was upgraded which was nice. Sadly didn’t get to experience any food at the hotel because we had plans but everywhere looked really good. Would definitely stay again!

The room was really hot, we had the overhead fan on, a desk fan and the air conditioning machine on and it was still far too warm. I’m a hotel receptionist myself and work in a hotel where due to the age of the building it gets super warm so from experience knew that not much can be done, we slept on top of the bed and it was fine. The lift was a bit temperamental but we were fine with the stairs.

Exceptional hotel fab location. Rooms are great. Staff really professional and polite. Having an iron and hairdryer, which isn't stated on the advert and should be as its a bonus for guests. Complimentary bottles of water by the bed and complimentary treats left on the bed for guests, which is a nice touch too. Discounted car parking in the Lace Market car park for guests is great .

Dog whining and barking in room 14 next door, I think it was. Trying to work out how the shower works, without getting soaked. Brief instructions would be helpful.

Location was perfect! Lots of lovely bars and restaurants close by (highly recommend Pizzamisú!!) Parking close by, £16 for 24 hours with plenty of spaces. Really short walk into the main shopping areas but still feels tucked away and quiet. The staff were very friendly and chatty. We didn't eat in the restaurant but the bar area was nice for a quick drink before we went out and was reasonably priced.

You have to use the lift and it was very small. May be an issue if you struggle with tight spaces. There were stairs in case of a fire but the sign said they did not lead to the reception so we couldn't use them.

The staff was very friendly! I went to see Lewis Capaldi at the Motorpoint Arena, and when i came back i had a very interesting chat with a staff member about music and stuff... Finally someone that didn't mind me talking too much 😂

The only tiny thing, was that the lights in the room were a bit funny, like all pointing up. When i was trying to look in the mirrors i struggled a little bit because i wasn't fully illuminated. And the was no charging spot next to the bed, so i couldn't put my phone on charge overnight without leaving it far away. But these are very minor things!!

The staff were exceptional, in particular the receptionist on arrival and the gentleman at breakfast. Polite, friendly, nothing too much trouble. The room was spacious, tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean. The bed was so comfortable, genuinely the best nights sleep I've had in ages.

A minor grumble but the room was incredibly warm, there was a very bulky air-con unit with a pipe out of the window but it certainly wouldn't stop me from staying again.

Such a lovely old hotel, located in a quiet but central part of the town and very convenient for public transport and the main railway station. The staff at check in were very friendly and helpful. The bedroom was large, with a very comfortable bed and one of the biggest, nicest showers I've used in a hotel for a long while. The free Wi-Fi was strong during the stay, and although we didn't use it, the room service options and food options for the adjoining bar/restaurant looked good. Convenient for all the local sights, restaurants, and bars. Would stay here again if visiting Nottingham.

The heating seemed to be on in the whole hotel when it was quite mild outside. This made it pretty hot throughout. As we were also unable to open the window in the bedroom (which is sometimes the case in hotels so no big problem most of the time) we used the air conditioning - which was pretty good to be honest. I'd be asking for that room if I was staying in the height of a heatwave!

Really fantastic location. I had never been to Nottingham before so on the drive in it felt like it was a bit far out of town, which it kind of was but actually that was a good thing as the area the hotel is located (Lace Market) is definitely the ‘nicer’ area of Nottingham city centre, where all the really nice independent restaurants and bars are. We would stay here again for its ideal location.

Old building with lots of original features, the room was perfectly spacious and the bed and pillows were really comfy. Sarah on reception printed our show tickets for us as we had forgotten to do this which was very kind- thank you Sarah.
