Staff were very friendly and helpful, every time we went past reception there was always a friendly face and someone on hand. I travel the country and stay in hundred of hotels and always wait so this was superb. On all the reviews there were notes about a lack of kettles and irons etc however staff had made a sign to show customers they were available from reception. Property was really quiet, other guests where friendly and polite. It’s conveniently next to a Tesco for a cooked Breakfast or a Subway, KFC or McDonald’s. There are two Buses which take you to the beach, city centre or gun wharf every 10 mins. There are a few parking spaces outside or free spaces in B&Q opposite. Our 5 year old loved the Bunk bed over the main bed, both were really comfortable as was the pillows and the duvet.

Just the odd niggle. There are four electric parking spaces and all spaces were taken up by normal cars. I have an electric car however used Tesco’s chargers as they were faster if you find the same issue yourself.

A Wonderful Stay at an Accommodating Hotel Rating: ★★★★★ I recently had the pleasure of staying at this hotel and it truly exceeded my expectations in every way. From the moment we arrived, the staff greeted us with warm smiles and were incredibly accommodating. We had elderly guests with us and also needed to transport a buggy, so the fact that they provided us with ground-floor rooms made our stay even more convenient and comfortable. One of the first things I noticed upon entering our room was its pristine cleanliness. The housekeeping staff clearly takes great pride in their work, as every corner of the room was spotless. It was a relief to walk into such a well-maintained space after a long journey. The shower in the room was a delightful surprise. The water pressure was perfect, and the temperature was just right, providing a refreshing and invigorating experience. It's always a pleasure to have a nice hot shower, especially after a tiring day exploring the city. One aspect of this hotel that truly stood out was the exceptional service provided for families with young children. The staff went above and beyond to accommodate our needs. They kindly allowed us to store milk for our baby in their fridge, and they even had a microwave available at all times, which was incredibly convenient for heating up milk or food whenever necessary. This level of attention to detail and thoughtfulness is truly commendable. The location of the hotel couldn't have been better. It was perfectly situated to easily access and return from Gunwharf Quays, a popular destination in the area. Whether you're looking to indulge in some retail therapy, enjoy delicious meals, or simply soak in the vibrant atmosphere, this location is ideal. Based on my wonderful experience, I wouldn't hesitate to stay at this hotel again in the future.

pretty well everything. I’ve stayed here a lot over the past 10 years. When you book you know what you are going to get

The place has gone cashless. I didn’t spend any money when previously I used to buy a couple beers in the evenings I like to be greeted by happy smiling faces so it’s a bit off putting to be greeted by one girl on the desk whose wearing a face mask. She may have some underlying medical issue and I accept that but there is no scientific evidence that face masks make any difference with regard to airborne viruses. The really annoying bit is she’s not wearing it correctly ie it’s not covering here nose ( in particular) and mouth

I spend a lot of time staying in hotels at the economical end of the market. I’ve stayed at the Ibis Budget in Fratton ( Portsmouth) many times over past 10 years. I am quite frankly surprised at what a low rating on Booking.com it gets especially when a hotel that I’m staying in tonight is rated 7.4 but yet is nowhere near the level of Portsmouth Ibis in terms of comfort, staff, cleanliness etc As always my stay was as I have come to expect ie comfortable bed, good hot shower, free Wifi that works, clean, quiet and friendly helpful staff.

I really don’t like it when I’m told that a business is “cashless”, possibly part of the Covid insanity that has swept the world on recent times. What it says to me is that a company is going to implement measures that suits them rather than consider what their customers want. There are a fair percentage of customers who have concerns about where this “cashless society “ is leading and want no part of it. Personally I was happy to pay for accommodation over the net by card but would prefer to pay cash if the opportunity is there which is sometimes the case. Needless to say I used other options when purchasing my needs and spent NOTHING during my stay(s) at the Ibis apart from my accommodation

Nice Hotel, we stayed in an accessible twin room, lots of space. Very basic but met our needs as we where out all day. The staff where friendly and informative we had to change room last minute when we got there as son couldn't access the bunk it was not a problem. Area, it is 7 min walk from Fratton Station straight up a busy road. There are bus stops on this road, the bus will take you to Gunwalf one way Southend the other, they are regular. There is a KFC directly opposite the hotel a mcdonalds and a big tesco extra which has a cafe. Also back on the main road a lidl and kwicky mart and a shell garage.

The breakfast is not worth paying extra for. It was not nice the crumpets and pancakes where cheap and not fresh, go tesco cafe or mcdonalds. There are no tea or coffee facilities in the room, no hairdryers you can hire these from reception we never. However its a budget hotel so that isn't that much to complain about.

This is a centrally located, modern hotel. Staff are really helpful & efficient. Very good breakfast, with lots of choice & surprisingly good coffee from the machine! Good powerful shower & clean, well laid out family room. It is the second time we've stayed there to see Pompey play & visit friends in the city & we thoroughly recommend it.

Ideally some more parking outside but that is probably not the hotel's choice. Alternative parking is in B & Q car park (official arrangement & you must log your car details at Ibis reception) is about 2-3 mins walk away across the main road. This is fine but could be a small problem in bad weather or for guests with poor mobility.

Easy to find but parking only limited spaces so off too b&q car park as overflow. The main thing is you have Tesco's next door, McDonald's and KFC opposite for all your eating needs including breakfast. Rooms is what it is so don't take a lot of cases showers hot and powerful bed and TV ok overall stay okay ❤️👍

I'm sure it's been said before but the plug sockets there's only 2 no were near bed for charging or even having your alarm next to you. As for drying your hair you need to put mirror by sockets would help😁

Clean room, functional. The staff were all really nice and helpful. I'd like to single out breakfast person Chuka for special thanks for a flexible and helpful attitude in getting me the breakfast I wanted at a convenient time for me.

The room was a bit noisy, but it quietened off after 11 so I guess it was ok. The room was a bit steamy after I had a shower. I wouldn't want to be in there with three people who wanted to shower. The over flow parking in B&Q a couple of hundred yards away on the other side of KFC was weird and felt insecure. However there wasn't any signs of trouble when I went back to pick up the car in the morning.

The wide selection of places to eat. The fact that the stadium is so close to the hotel. Staff greet you at the door with a huge smile and check you in very quickly. 5 mins from fratton station. 20 min bus ride by bus to Gunwharf quays and buses run every 10mins. Mood lights, led lights and separate desk lights above the bed was amazing. Good spacious room for families or a group of friends.

The soap choice provided by the hotel. Smelt pretty plain but I guess I could have bought my own in. Couldn't seem to change the setting on the heating system to blow cold air, it was probably set to blow hot air because it was a chilly day. I do enjoy sleep better when there's a low breeze, just cranked open the window and it was fine.

The receptionist was very helpful and friendly, loication was very good for my trip back to France as the port was only a few miles away. There are a couple of take away restuarants very close to the hotel so a quick bite to eat was on hand. Was able to park at the hotel too so overall not a bad stay. Shower was very goiod pressure so always a bonus!

My room had a very strong smell of stale cigarettes which as a all time non-smoker is just a real pain. had to have the window open for the bulk of my stay to try to get rid of the smell. I know this is doen to the prior guests but maybe smoke detectors in the rooms would stop people fromn smoking in them in the first place as the no smoking signs clearly do not work.
