Have reviewed many times, opinion doesn't change, if you are down for the football and, you've got a good price then you can't beat this hotel you know exactly what you are getting. On this occasion, due to a minor cock up (partly me partly the hotel, I have to say very impressed. The staff just took control and devised a solution that sorted the issue out without any fuss or nonsense really appreciated that (I've got another 1/2 dozen nights booked here already

Not much to moan about, but the only thing I'll comment on (as my eyes are going) is that it would be nice if you could clearly see what way was hot / cold on the shower (how minor is that!)

Everything that you need from a cheap hotel. No fuss. Parking was easy. Check in was seamless. The room was very clean. Decent sized TV and adequate shower. Breakfast was continental but for the price of the stay I didn't mind. It was fine for filling up in the morning. Staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. 5 mins walk from the football ground and right next to a Tesco, KFC & McDonald's

The lift had an annoying habit of closing as soon as somebody walked out of it, so it could take you about 3 goes of pressing the button before you could actually get in the lift yourself. Heating system seemed a bit off in terms of temperature. I had it set to 18c and it was a lot hotter than that when I woke up in the morning

I honestly think all the Ibis' are run well in any terraine, also like the ergonomic and anthro friendly layouts i.e very civilised even in budget versions intuitive placement of ameneties etc, well placed towels and soap! just lovely! Love the room lighting and the memory foam bed lol.. Breakfasts in main venues are absolutely spot on at all levels, eggs done right, really good sausage and nicely cooked good back bacon hash browns are wicked too and it'll take til gone lunchtime to feel hungry again! Budget breakfast is good and varied yet not always to brit tastes! these bods in chsrge hsve to compare the value of conti versus brit breakfast to me it requires no thought! brit is it ! Love it just wish i could get some loyalty discounts!

the budget shower cubicle tbh!

Check in was brilliant. Staff member Tina was excellent. She has an excellent manner with guests and went over and above to help everyone, even a 'very very difficult' guest!!! We have travelled to the UK regularly due to now living in Spain. I have to say, Tia was like a friend I've known for years! I mention this as I feel very strongly that staff members should be recognised by guests to management when they make "very stressed" guests so welcome. This is the first time we have stayed in Portsmouth and your Ibis budget hotel, but I know it won't be the last. All staff were very friendly, professional and welcoming, but Tina stood out as the best to both myself and my husband!! Hence my strongly felt comments! Well done, 5* Tina!!!!!

Parking is a bit limited. Although, parking freely at B&Q is satisfactory and not too far away, not the best in winter. It does make it easier to park than it could have been.

It might be a budget hotel but attention to detail in the room was more like a 5-star! - Lovely folded towels on the bed, a lovely little fold on the loo roll in the toilet and super clean and comfy - plus hair shampoo and body wash in the shower! Bed was super comfy too and after a long day travelling from France to the ferry, had the best night 's sleep in ages! Reception staff were super helpful and lovely - Tina was amazing - we didn't arrive til about 10.30 at night - I had a hotwater bottle with me as had a bad back so she gave us a kettle for the room so I could fill it up again with hot water - and some teabags and milk so we could have a very welcome cuppa! She was so kind and friendly and super helpful - defo 5-star service at a budget price. would stay again for sure!

The hotel and my room were very good. It was maybe a 15-minute walk from the train station, and near to some big supermarkets and a residential area. Very quiet at night. The receptionist who checked me in was efficient and helpful. My room was simple, but clean and comfortable. Linen and towels were good quality. Breakfast was fine, quite simple as it's the Ibis Budget hotel chain, but there was enough variety of cereals, muffins, yoghurt, juice, tea, coffee etc. Very good service from start to finish.

This is not a terrible thing that made my stay uncomfortable, but the window in the room does open but by how much cannot be regulated. The window cannot be left ajar by a centimetre for example to allow just a trickle of air to flow in. So the room would get too cold at night if the window was left open with its current set-up.

Very helpful and friendly receptionist who provided us with a kettle as none in the room. Room comfortable but no plugs near the bed! Larger room and shower than First Class hotels. Our room was quiet overnight as well. We didn't partake of the breakfast so can't comment.

No coffee/tea making facilities either in the room or elsewhere. I this day and age a definite mistake. Simply the lack of parking near the hotel was a let down, yes the arrangement at the B&Q was there but this was off site and therefore security/safety issues. Especially as there were plenty of empty spaces in the allocated parking for the nearby businesses even out of their trading hours.

Tina on reception was very friendly and helpful, check-in was easy. Room was basic as we had expected but perfect for a couple of nights. We had a family room with a double bed with a single bunk over the top. Beds were comfy and shower was very powerful. Location made it very easy to find something to eat and train station is very close by. There are also electric car charging ports available to use. We would be more than happy to stay here again.

There was an odour coming from the shower waste which was OK if the door was closed. It is right on one of the entrances to Fratton Park stadium so something to be mindful of on match days but there wasn't one on when we stayed. Room is a bit small particularly for 3 people but wasn't uncomfortably so and you get what you pay for.

Clean and comfortable with the basic towels shower accessories. The reception had a cafe style dining area which was well stocked and the drinks machine was just right as during the day a short walk of 100 metres brought you to KFC and Macdonald's a shopping park full of everything you need. Road system was excellent easy to get to the motorways leading in and out of Portsmouth to Porchester, Fareham,Gosport and further. All in all a great place to base yourself and explore the surrounding area Southsea always worth a visit.

My 5 hour drive down and 5 hour drive back, but that's not something you can change.lol

The room was very clean and ideal for a one night stay for the football. Comfy bed and a good quiet nights sleep. The staff were very friendly and helped with our requests. They provided a kettle and placed our bags in storage which we collected after the game. The hotel is in a great location, near the station and the bus that you get to go to the beach. Plenty of pubs and eateries in the location too. Would I stay again if going to Fratton Park? Absolutely, as long as the prices don't increase and I get another deal on booking.com!

The rooms were very hot with no air con and windows were restricted to be opened a small gap. The temperature control in the room was not adequate.
