Everything! We were given a free upgrade on the room even though we had a doggy in tow! which was such a lovely surprise! The room was beautiful with a little bed for the dog and doggy treats and a water bowl. So thoughtful. Bed was so comfortable and the room was clean . Plenty of clean towels and the Breakfast was absolutely superb. The staff couldn't do enough for you and we're so friendly and helpful. Even asking if we wanted sausage for the dog! Can't say enough good things about The Millstone. Our room was very comfortable... Breakfast and dinner were delicious but, the staff (at all levels) were the real point of difference... from check-in to check-out, they all made us feel like we were very special to them - they were warm and friendly whilst maintaining a superior level of service. Nothing was ever too much trouble. A very happy and memorable stay for us and we were sad to leave

Dinner both nights was great & the service couldn't have been better. All the staff were really friendly. Separate dog menu was something we've never seen before & was a real reflection that The Milestone is a real dog friendly place. The dogs were also given sausages for breakfast.

The breakfast could have been better. I had room service deliver breakfast the first morning & the eggs were mediocre & the bacon looked like it had spent a while under a heat lamp and couldn't be cut with a knife. Breakfast the 2nd morning was a little better, but the eggs were still not great - a little bland

This is a lovely small hotel with a personal touch, more a good restuarant with nice quality rooms. The breakfasts were delicious and the evening meals beautifully cooked. There were coffee machines in each bedroom which were particularly enjoyed together with good quality liquid soap and shampoo.

Travelling with friends and family for a funeral we would have liked a lounge area to meet in and our room needed airing on arrival otherwise every request was met and exceeded.

We booked out the Millstone for our close wedding party for our wedding we recently had in the area. All the staff (Olivia, Erol and the rest) were so helpful from start to finish. From helping allocate different rooms to different guests and sorting out meal times and accommodating any special wedding requests we had and going above and beyond for us. They helped make everything as stress free as possible and made the whole wedding experience extra special. It was clean, great rooms, great food and great staff. Couldn't fault anything, top marks all round. Thanks so so much 😊

There was no heating when we arrived as boiler had broken down but staff managed to arrange a repair after about 3 hours. This was disappointing as my mother aged 95 needed a heated room on arrival but once repaired the heating was fine.

Sadly the evening meal was awful. As it was my birthday we ordered the most expensive meal on the menu - lamb rump. The meat was so tough that my Mum could not even even cut it with her knife. It was chewy & certainly not up to restaurant standards. The potatoes "Anna" were tasteless & the only good part of our meal was the peas, beans & jus. Our pudding was "Espresso creme caramel" which was watery & had no discernable coffee taste whatsoever. As this was a special 70th birthday meal for me, my Mum did not want us to complain to management as this would have embarrassed us & spoilt our special evening together but the whole meal was both expensive & very poor quality. Our breakfast next day however was very good.

Breakfast and food was exemplary - food, dining room and bar areas are brilliant. Very tastefully decorated and a fantastic feel to the place. Staff very good also.

Unfortunately the bed we had was smaller that we thought, a double and it was not very comfortable - had a poor nights sleep unfortunately but other great. I would suggest there is no need for a bath in a room nd a large shower would be better and more accessible - slipped getting in and out of the bath to have a shower.

Lovely place to stay, clean, brilliant location for what we needed. We have stayed here multiple times now, everything always great however have to say every room we have stayed in, the lighting is dreadful for getting ready/doing makeup. Brighter lighting, mirrors near windows would be extremely helpful.

Room was spacious and well equipped with a fan/ironing board/ speciality coffee sachets etc. Dinner was excellent - food was lovely and our waitress arranged a birthday surprise cake for my husband without being asked. Breakfast was very good. Wide choice and large portions.

Very minor niggles. There wasn't a shower cap provided with the complimentary face and body washes. As the shower head was in a fixed high position and, because I didn't want to get my hair wet ,I didn't have a shower. (could have had a bath). The bathroom of Room 42 backs onto the vent from the kitchen. I kept window open because it was a warm night and the noise from the vent kept my husband awake ( I slept through it). At breakfast we had to ask for granulated sugar for my husband to put on his porridge - only sugar cubes were on the table - not much use with cereal or porridge. Very minor niggles.

The rooms are beautifully decorated and the bed was very comfy.

The large head of the shower had black mould on it and needs cleaning properly. All members of staff were lovely but there was some discrepancies over timings of breakfast, we were told this was 7:30 - 10:30am on our first day but then was told the next day it was 10:00am. I don't know if this was because it was a Saturday and Sunday? Also on one day, cappuccinos were available but the next day they wasn't? For a five star hotel you wouldn't expect this and would also expect better service and breakfast.
