The room was very clean and comfortable. The bathroom was big. Although there were no tea or coffee making facilities in the room itself, the small communal kitchen was very well equipped and stocked, including freash milk, biscuits, and sparklig water. We booked two dinners, and it was an enjoyable experience both times. The food and wine were great, and the service was very friendly. We only had one breakfast, but that was because we did not realise it's a really good a la carte selection.

A wardrobe and a breakfast menu in the room would be helpful.

The room was clean, quiet and comfortable, with a good shower and a little communal cupboard with unlimited tea, coffee, sparkling water and biscuits. The property is about 15 minutes walk from the station and five minutes from the town centre.

For some reason I expected breakfast to be included in the price (I guess I didn't read the small print). Each item was priced separately and it would have been quite expensive to have the "full English" you normally get in these sort of establishments.

Friendly and unpretentious - we were immediately made to feel very welcome as we were staying over as well as eating. No fuss, no bother - key ready for us on a hook, but we were welcomed anyway because Tracey heard us arriving. Room was pleasant and clean. Food was excellent and very reasonably priced (set 3-course menu price) - a surprisingly wide selection given that the menu has apparently been 'shrunk' recently - it was so difficult to choose, we'll have to come back soon. Wine was excellent too - Tracey helped us to choose what was, for us, a new discovery even though it was from a region we'd been to before. Service was unflustered, friendly but always timely. Breakfast was great too - we had the ricotta and avocado on toast. Excellent tea and coffee to go with it. We'll be back - with friends next time.

Not a lot

The choice for breakfast was varied and imaginative. We particularly appreciated that we paid precisely for what we actually ordered for breakfast. The bristo dinner menu was extremely good.

it was unfortunate - but couldn't be helped - that the accommodation is on a busy road. The car parking was limited.

The hosts were fantastic. Cancelled trains meant I would be arriving past midnight so my mum called ahead and Tracey called me directly to reassure me that she'd leave the key and put the heating on in my room. She also gave me directions on how to get to the place from Sherborne Station. And when I arrived earlier than expected, I called again and Paul told me how to find the key to my room etc. The room itself was big and nicely furnished, everything was spotless, and the bed was very comfy.

It was a little pricey for just me for one night but it is certainly reasonable for couples or two people in one room.

We thought the breakfast was excellent: my wife particularly like the elegant cups and saucers out of which we drank our free tea or coffee. The food at the Newell Bistro was delicious and we enjoyed our evening meal very much. Our room was clean, as was the bathroom, and the bed was comfortable. Absolutely no complaints.

We liked everything including the warm welcome when we arrived and the glass of wine while we were getting changed for dinner.

Advertised as restaurant and rooms, the food was exceptionally good. The breakfast was good value and a la carte. This morning's offering as a special was smoked haddock with eggs and fried potatoes which my partner enjoyed. The rooms were clean and well equipped. Some nice touches were a shared room on the landing with tea and coffee provided for free guests with fresh milk and biscuits. What's not to like. It's not 5 star, reasonable price and run by an amiable Australian couple who try a little bit harder.

We were able to park outside, but it's first come. first served. So that could be an issue

A friendly welcome awaited me when I arrived after grabbing a bite to eat en route - work stopped me getting there in time for the meal. Tracey had upgraded my room because of the heat, at no extra charge. The bed was comfortable and breakfast, not included in the cost but this is made very clear so it's not a problem, was really, really good and made with high quality ingredients, well cooked.

If I were being really picky I'd probably rather have a kettle in my room but there was a well-stocked coffee/tea/water room on hand on a 'help yourself' basis so this wasn't a problem.

Very convenient spot to explore delightful Sherborne. Owners were friendly and my breakfast was exceptional as made from fresh ingredients.

Not much to dislike, a slight downside was my room was on the side of the main road where you could hear the traffic, something I'm not used to. Not a problem if you didn't have the windows open of course.

Friendly owners with very good local tips. Superb food for a reasonable price (for that type of cuisine) in the attached bistro. Super clean room and nice additions such as bottles of sparkling water. I will stay again and recommend to friends.
