It'd been a while since we were last here and the public areas have been given a welcome refurbishment. The staff were without exception, friendly, welcoming, professional and appear efficient. The bridal sweet whislt tired, is immaculate... no dust in sight. Housekeeping clearly take a pride in their work in a bid to make the best of areas that would benefit from some updating. Pre booked breakfast rate a bargain - well done.

The bridal suite could do with some attention... it's shabby chic which is fine, but there's a tear in the net curtain and cracked floor tiles in the bathroom which were there on our last visit . It's a cold room and could do with an oil filled radiator- I'm sure if we'd asked one would have been provided but we spent the night in the hot tub anyway.

The room was spacious and the bed was exceptionally comfortable. Close to town and a nearby dog walk. There was some work being done but it didn’t affect our stay at all. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, particularly the guy on the bar and the ladies at breakfast. Breakfast was plentiful and fresh, and didn’t seem to have been hanging around for hours. Sunday roast was tasty too! We would definitely go back.

My only slight gripe is that the charge for dogs was £15 per night, per dog, which turned a great value stay into an average cost stay. I can’t imagine they clean the room twice because there were two dogs. It wouldn’t put us off returning as, apart from this, they were very pet friendly.

Lovely friendly and helpful staff especially the lady in reception. Location was perfect for my workshop. Easy parking. Rooms were spacious especially in the main building and very clean. A little tired in places but renovations are ongoing. Room service meal was piping hot and good. Simple pie and chips but nicely done.

When I first arrived the cottage room I was allocated was steaming hot. Heating on full blast and it was 19 degrees outside. Couldn’t be turned off. But the lady in reception was fantastic and moved me to a lovely cool room in the main house. Renovations going on but needed and will make it so much better. I was out all day so didn’t affect me

Lovely, spacious room, bathroom with bath, parking directly outside. The room was in the annex at the side of the main hotel (the 'cottage rooms') where you could park in front of their entrance. Booked a room each for me and my mother, who struggles with stairs and this was perfect for us. Hotel chose our rooms based on need and couldn't have been better, excellent communication via Booking.com before arriving. Biscuits in room appreciated! Breakfast £9.95 was good value. 11am checkout very appreciated! Excellent room rates.

It's a beautiful old building but the restaurant seems to have more of a diner feel. Not sure whether this is new, or always the case, but didn't feel in keeping with the decor or tradition of the place. Nice breakfast though and comfortable enough.

I had noted on the booking that we had got married the day before so was really pleased when, on arrival, the team had upgraded us to the Bridal Suite which made our day :-) The room and bed were huge plus an extra bonus was that the hotel was dog friendly so we were able to have Luna with us throughout. The hotel also caters for gluten free and allergies so we enjoyed dinner and breakfast on site.

The only downside is that the bar did not stock Rioja/Tempranillo which is our drink of choice however there were decent alternatives.

It's a great base for exploring the area, but great to get back to as we were moving furniture! Derek and Milda were particularly helpful....really great service from them, waiting staff attentive....

We found there wasnt the same standard of customer service between different reception staff, which was unhelpful. This was our second stay, and it was notable. Reception staff need to be all eyes tits and teeth, even if they don't feel like it....just saying....

The hotel was clean, our room was much larger than the usual hotel room and so was the bathroom. The bed was comfortable. Good tea/coffee facilities. Plenty of parking within the grounds. Location was excellent and was within walking distance to the town which had plenty of pubs and restaurants. The staff were very friendly. We didn't actually eat at the hotel but used the bar and drinks were priced reasonable.

The hotel is currently being refurbished so there was a lot of work going on but the builders didn't start too early in the morning so it didn't inconvenience us at all.

Reception staff and Lewis from the bar were exceptional, food was nice but could of been warmer dog friendly , was given complimentary breakfast for the disruption which was much appreciated, maybe a few dog water bowls and dog beds in rooms would be nice

Had a few issues with bath and toilet in first room in cottage, water backing up into the bath, was moved immediately and offered room in main hotel chose to stay in cottages due to having a service dog , moved room but no radiators working but was a given heaters so that wasn't a problem, TV signal was hit and miss . Overall I had a nice stay and will be back this was my third stay

The en-suite room was warm, clean, nicely decorated and well maintained. The bed was very comfortable. At breakfast there was a reasonable choice of food and the quality of the was good.

The blind on the window was tried and fragile and look as if it was about to fail. Also, the window frame also look like it needed decorating before it starts to rot. The fan in the bathroom functioned but was noisy which suggests it's nearing the end if its life too.

Very convenient location as only a short walk to Shifnal train station. The rooms are basic but really comfortable and they have everything you need. Breakfast was good, not expansive but enough options including cooked and continental. Overall excellent value for money.

The room was too hot and we couldn’t work out how to control the radiators, but we opened a window and that worked fine! I’m sure the staff would have helped if we’d asked.
