Based in Shifnal this property was ideal for exploring a little part of Shropshire. A relatively short drive from Birmingham (where we had stayed the night before) meant that we could fit in some sight-seeing before checking in. Judy met us on arrival and showed us to the lovely room, which was spacious and spotlessly clean. Breakfast the following morning was delicious and was ordered the night before. On a personal note the location could not have been better - it was next door to a brilliant pub, that served great beer and even better bar snacks!

Nothing - everything was perfect.

The location is a short walk to the main street and right next door to a pub selling real ale. We didn't hear any noise when people were leaving on either nights (Fri/Sat). The room was very spacious and stocked with toiletries, tea and coffee making facilities/water and biscuits. The bed was super comfy and there was loads of storage space. Judy was very friendly and very helpful and was doing a great job as her husband was in hospital. There was a variety of options for breakfast which was lovely and there was an offer of extra toast and drink refills, should you want them. There is a private car park.

Mike, the proprietor was very helpful considering it was a last minute late evening booking and helped with arranging transport to the lodge, as I had broken down and couldn’t proceed with my journey until the next morning. A great bonus with the lodge being situated next door to the Anvil pub which has a great selection of craft ales and cosy atmosphere.

The breakfast was very good and varied. The location was excellent for the centre of the town. Plenty of storage space in the room. Extra heater was provided. Nice extra large bed. Would stay there again.

Room was a little cold without the extra heater, but it was February. Car park not that easy to get in and out of, with a long car.

Our hosts were brilliant. We only stayed for 3 three nights but would have happily stayed longer. Great breakfast each morning, we had full English which was really good but we could have had cereal, yoghurt etc. Easy private access to your room which was great size with full facilities. Only issue we had was our room was quite cold on our second night but to be fair to our hosts we forgot to mention it. Great location next door to a pub but without the noise and a five minute walk from the centre of Shifnal. Highly recommended and great value for money

the owner and his wife are so hospitable. He allowed us to check in early, was a very pleasant gentleman. We enjoyed our time in there home. Breakfast was wonderful; the socializing with other guests and the family was truly enjoyable. The room was spacious and comfortable. teas and cookies in the room. A welcome packet with recommendations for our visit. They thought of everything. Largest Bathroom at any property I’ve stayed at in England. Close to the train station.

All the facilities were there as described and the breakfast was certainly substantial. The pub next door was an excellent bolt hole. This had once been own by the landlord and lady of the Anvil Lodge. Huge bed!

Little bit expensive but we appreciate costs are going up for everyone all the time.

The room was a good size, the owners were very friendly and as helpful as they could be. Lots of hot water in the rooms. Parking was very convenient and close to the rooms. The owners were very helpful with local information Breakfast was very full and plentiful

The hosts were really friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The bed was huge and extremely comfortable. Tea, coffee and bottled water in room. Lovely big bath with an assortment of toiletries. Breakfast was gorgeous with a choice of full English and continental.

The rooms were very large and well appointed, comfortable with a onsite bathroom and shower. Two beds in the room, one was a super king and was so large it needed a sat nav to orientate oneself. The other was a single but plenty of space to move around in the room. The breakfast was exceptional cooked to order with a selection of cereals and fresh orange juice followed by full English breakfast. Being an ex-landlord the host was very friendly with a dry sense of humour and very knowledgeable of the surrounding area. Very good pub next door similar name but not connected and had good atmosphere. We ate out at one of the several restaurants in Shifnal which was 10 mins walk away. No noise was noted from the neighbouring pub when we returned to the room. We only stayed for one night as we were visiting RAF Cosford museum and a model aircraft show at Weston Park. Free parking worked a dream.

Nothing to dislike. Would recommend a stay at this hotel and we plan to return next year for the same show.
