On arrival the staff were very helpful & friendly. Being on motorcycles, the free, private parking was a great bonus. Our room was very spacious, spotlessly clean & comfortable. It had one of the best showers we've ever had. Big towels & nice shower products. The breakfast choices were excellent, well cooked & very tasty. For the evening, the bar provided good real ale & an excellent selection of gin!

The only drawback of the hotel is that they don't provide evening meals & South Molton doesn't really have a choice of eateries! The hotel, however, did allow us to get takeaways & eat at the hotel, providing crockery & cutlery.

Rooms were great well equipped with modern fittings spacious and clean. Lovely breakfast and staff so friendly helpful and accommodating. Hotel operates a tea room during day and the cake and coffee were delicious (carrot cake home made was super!). We occupied 3 rooms 4 nights and our stay was great)

More possibilities for evening meals in town (other than takeaway) would have been great. However chippy across road served great fish n chips and hotel happy to accommodate with plates cutlery etc for bringing in from various takeaway establishments in town. Parking good too.

The George is very good value for money and in a central location. The staff are friendly and obliging. The rooms are clean and comfortable, though I found the duvet rather heavy for the summer season. I would also have liked an easy chair in the bedroom. The bathroom contained an excellent shower. The breakfast was remarkably good with quality food cooked to order from a varied menu. I would stay again without hesitation when visiting family in North Devon.

There was nothing I disliked, but one has to accept that the George is unable to provide an evening meal though it provides dining facilities for bringing in take-away meals from the rather limited options South Molton has to offer.

Easy reserved parking, efficient reception and room and en suite were spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Staff were very friendly and welcoming, and the breakfast was superb.

Our expectations (although I hadn't checked this beforehand!) were that we would be able to have food in the evening. Sadly this was not the case, and we were unable to find anywhere in the town to have a meal. We finished up with a takeaway, which was rather disappointing. This was the only downside to our visit and would not deter us from using The George again in the future, with the proviso that we would make other plans for an evening meal.

staff were all very friendly. breakfast was fab. shower was amazing. bed so comfy. parking great. 45 mins drive to ilfracombe / woolacombe, 20 mins to barnstaple. car essential I'd say. kettle for a cup of tea in the evening was great. i felt left at peace but also could ask the staff for anything.

only thing is i couldn't figure out the heating! it was a little chilly at times but nothing i couldn't deal with.

what an amazing little treasure this place is. sadly I only stayed for one night as I had a job in the village, the room (5) was of excellent quality and if I’m honest would have expected to pay 3 times what I did maybe it’s the location I don’t know. the staff were exceptional and very polite and attentive. breakfast was fab all freshly cooked to order. I never made use of the bar as was busy but seeing as they didn’t have a restaurant did love the idea that you could order from any of the local takeaways and they would plate it up for you to eat in the dining room.

The team here are fantastic - Welcoming and really helpful. The hotel is beautifully designed, with every last detail taken into account. The room was spacious, immaculate and very comfortable - lovely large bed! Breakfast was very good, with great options cooked to order. Easy to park and no charge for guests We stayed with our dog, who was also made to feel very welcome! Easy to get most places from South Molton, with quick access to main roads.

No faults about this hotel, the service or our stay.

Room was very comfortable. The en-suite shower room well equipped with modern fittings including a heated towel rail. The full English breakfast (included in the room rate) was freshly cooked to order. The staff were friendly and efficient. I had a Devon Cream Tea in the Bar / Lounge and that was excellent too. The bar was quiet and peaceful. Although this must be an old building, it is very well decorated indeed. The George has a reserved parking area for guests which was very welcome. I would stay here again and I would recommend it to my friends.

I was really impressed with all of the staff who I met at the George. I was staying by myself, as I had a funeral to attend and I felt very at ease there. I had requested a quiet room, with good Wifi, as I would need to work during part of my stay and that is exactly what I got. They couldn't have put me in a better located room. It was great that there was a suitable desk in the room too. I interacted with about 5 members of staff when I was there and they were all highly professional, friendly and helpful. I was in my room during the time that the other rooms were being cleaned. I was impressed to come back from the funeral and discover that my room had been cleaned in my absence. I loved the extra detail of fresh milk in a little flask.

The only thing was that I found the room to be too hot, despite no radiators being on. I discovered that leaving the windows open all day meant that it wasn't as hot and I was able to sleep better on the second night.

The hotel is welcoming: ambience, decor & staff. The room, although 'single' had a small double bed in it and was super cosy & comfortable; great decor and well-stocked refreshment tray. Wonderful, well-cooked breakfast, to set you up for the day!

My only criticism was not having a small towel rail, next to the shower, meaning that I had to place my bath towel on the edge of the basin, so it was in reach, when I had finished showering.
