Location great. Loved the room and leisure facilities

Breakast poor. Wouldn't book breakfast next time as timing 7am to 9am finished too early and lacked replenishing of food we were always having to ask for food and when asked for bowl of fruit they just said we dont have any left. Asked for tomatoes and they only brought one tomato out. All very dry. Tea was worst tea ever. It was so weak. Even waiting for water took them forever to bring out. Don't book breakfast. We also paid for two members of our family to have breakfast with us. It was a waste of money as again hardly any food had been replenished. We should have took them somewhere else to eat as we didn't get value for money

great location on the promenade - lots of restaurants in walking distance. handy for stadium of light and other city landmarks. room was of a good size and standard- beds very comfortable.

it’s split over two buildings to get to our room was up one floor in lift walk up and over a bridging section and up another floor in lift - just a bit clunky! leisure suite is a good size for the property but needs investment - there is a horrible corridor from ladies change to the pool across a dirty looking mat at a fire door. elsewhere a lot of the tiles round the pool looked unclean although I think it was more an age issue and the poolside shower was coming away from the wall. I chose the hotel because it had a pool but it wasn’t really a spa experience. Overall you can see the hotel has been high class but areas need reinvestment and freshening up now.

Nice room with a big comfy bed

Got told we could use the pool when we checked out off 2 staff then when we checked out we got told we couldn't, in the end they let us but we wasted time and stood around over 30mins waiting for then to speak to a manager when all we wanted to do is chill in the pool. We also asked about Sunday lunch and said do we need to book the said no just go in when your ready. When we did that they were fully booked. We ended up in the Salt House food was amazing, definitely recommend it.

We booked the Grand Hotel for a one night stay as I was running The Great North Run. We have never been to this area but the beach front location on an exceptionally hot September weekend was an absolute bonus. Our standard room was great, very comfortable bed, plenty of room, decent if slightly dated bathroom, tea and coffee facilities. The staff were without doubt a highlight of our stay and absolute asset to the hotel. We had an issue with the TV which was sorted out immediately. On the morning of the GNR I left the hotel early and there were bottles of water and bananas in reception which were so welcome especially as it was so hot. On checking in the receptionist was very knowledgeable explaining how both myself as a runner and my husband as a spectator could get to where we needed to be - me the start and him the finish. Parking was easy and included in the price. After the run we were caught in the most horrendous storm and were absolutely drenched. The staff were amazing and even though we had checked out allowed us to use the leisure club to shower and change which was such a help as I was freezing and soaked. Thank you for a great stay - we will be returning next year!

Lovely, clean room with a sea view plus both bath and shower facilities. Comfortable beds with the added bonus of easy chairs and small table. The room also had a large fan available and a fridge which was a real advantage for food and drink storage Leisure facilities were very good and were readily accessible. Location of the room was brilliant, as despite functions being held every night of our stay we heard no noise and were not disturbed at all.

Extra pillows were available but they could have been a little softer. No coffee machine available in the room, as stated in the room facilities on line. We cannot comment on breakfast as we were room only because no vegan options were available

The room with the sea view was large with a sofa and two large screen TVs. The bathroom had both bath and shower. The leisure centre was clean and light with plenty of chairs and loungers round the pool. The hotel is where the artist Lowry used to stay and the hotel could make more of this although the Lowry conference room does have an excellent collection of Lowry prints. There are frequent buses to Sunderland in one direction and South Shields in the other which means the car can stay in the car park. The beach and promenade at Seaburn are fabulous

The price of breakfast is quite high so we ate elsewhere.

Our usual choice for a comfortable hotel that is pet friendly. Very good value - £75 for the night and in a great location for restaurants and cafes, entertainment at the Stack - 2min walk away and across the road from the beach. Pet friendly rooms are very clean and fresh.

Hard, chunky pillows. We now always bring our own after learning from bad night's sleep and a sore neck! Usually the pet friendly room is huge with a lounge area but this time our room was small and with a smaller bed than usual. Less space than we're used to when we normally stay here. The hotel is a bit out dated now compared with the Seaburn just along the road. No plug sockets beside the beds is a pain for convenience for mobile phone charging!

We were lucky enough to have upgraded so we had a suite and super large bed. The room had everything we needed. The added bonus of the pool etc was great. The staff were very helpful.

The carpets etc were rather tired and in some cases in need of repair. The fridge didn’t work and when we mentioned it to a staff mention we were told that they were full and so nothing could be done. We would like to have eaten breakfast and dinner in the restaurant but the prices were ridiculously expensive when other places were much more competitively priced.

The room was excellent. Really big, everything you needed. Comfortable bed and pillows, We are usually very fussy with pillows, but just right ✅️ The shower was fantastic. So powerful, wasted to take it home. We had our sea view aswell. You're staff are really friendly and knowable. Wishing the young lady Olivia serving breakfast Friday morning best wishes for her further and Birthday wishes for next week 😀

The only problem we had . The cooked breakfast was cold. The coffee and tea in the flasks was undrinkable. Maybe needs replacing with coffee jugs on a hotplates

Very clean, very comfortable and staff were friendly. On arriving by car the security gate (at the roundabout) will open automatically. On leaving reception will give you a 4 digit code. I didn't use my car at night as I didn't know if I'd get a space later on, but their car park is secure enough. For pedestrians there is a gate at the same entrance but you can also walk in through the exit gate or exit only via the bar. Decent size room, like a suite and shower anf separate bath in the bathroom. Good value for money. I didn't buy the breakfast but plenty eateries nearby! Plenty lights to switch on as you choose. Tea/coffee facilties provided and toiletries and towels too!

1 lift which isn't a great size so sometimes the stairs would be quicker but everything else was great
