Ideally situated for Sheffield Park and The Bluebell Railway. Staff very friendly and helpful. Plenty of parking, lovely location, historic building, surrounded by countryside.

When booking this property you need to be aware that they have live music events on Friday and Saturday nights that can be noisy with performing groups. We stayed Thursday night which was lovely and quiet but Friday was busy and very noisy. We were unaware until we checked in and was told about the events. Will suit those that enjoy live music, unfortunately not us. The property is close to Gatwick so you will hear aircraft up to midnight and after 6am. Our room No 4 was quite small and the bathroom smaller.

We were met by a very pleasant person (not sure if he was the owner) who made us very welcome, explained where everything was and showed us to our room. He explained what breakfast was (continental only). Breakfast was super and varied although the toast was a little too crispy for our liking. Room was a little small but very comfortable bed. The owner was only too pleased to show us around their Art Gallery and was very informative about the exhibits and also the upcoming music events they were hosting.

Television could have normal TV channels, was told there was no arial connected but not sure if that was just a temporary glitch. Wash basin in the bathroom was too small. These were only very small things in what was a really super hotel and stay.

When we stayed for two nights this week It was quiet, peaceful, and far enough away for us from the hustle and bustle of Brighton where we have family to visit. They do host weddings though, so you might wish to check if there are any booked for when you plan to stay. The bedroom was lovely, as was the dining area both of which were a bit unusual, and quirky. We were able to take our dog; he sat under our table when we had breakfast, and there are fields which belong to the property we could give him a bit of a stretch around.

There was nothing we didn't like, although I was concerned about checking in between 4 and 7pm due to the length of our journey. I needn't have worried as the staff phoned me during our drive to check our anticipated time of arrival. When we took a break I phoned them and paid for the room and they sent us a key code so we could access the room if we were late, although we did actually make it by 6pm. (I thought the payment would be automatic through booking.com)

Took a chance on this one as the listing seemed a little unclear. Glad we did. Great place - we booked a family room which had two rooms plus bathroom over two floors. Staff were extremely friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The location is excellent with rooms situated around an internal courtyard leading to a large suntrap of a terrace overlooking the gardens and beyond. Breakfast was a simple 'continental' but of high quality and very well done. Dog friendly (very), spotless, comfortable beds, excellent bathrooms. Interesting shop and gallery in the main building, plentiful parking.

Nothing. Genuinely loved this place. We only stayed on a Monday night, later in the week it could possibly get a little noisy as they have gigs in what looked like a great venue room with dining, but our stay more than exceeded our expectations.

Absolutely everything!! We didn’t realise when we booked that there was a live music evening - it was one of the best evenings we’ve ever had - we were a very last minute addition but nothing seemed too much bother for the staff and we honestly felt like we were being treated like special guests. From the minute we arrived we felt welcome - we loved it so much we invited my parents and children to come and meet us the next morning while we had breakfast and they were made welcome by everyone too. Loved the shop and the decor throughout too but the whole atmosphere of the place was incredibly friendly -we will absolutely be back!!!

The staff were absolutely exceptional, helpful and really the best I have ever come across in a hotel, I had a blow out on my car and the staff made the situation so much calmer by being so helpful from giving me and my friend a lift to the bluebell train and taking the pressure off following morning whilst waiting for AA to sort my car out, I would highly recommend this hotel for its ambience beautiful settings and AMAZING room and will be going back again without hesitation

ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!!

The staff was fantastic! The owner came over to ensure everything was fine during our breakfast, the staff from the restaurant was lovely and they did an outstanding job as I have allergic requirements, everything was delicious (and safe, thank you!) The place is a dream, we went to celebrate a birthday surprise for a friend and she was delighted!! The rooms are decorated like in a great literature book, and coffee & tea is also provided, I was lucky to enjoy the morning coffee painting in the middle of nature as they have tables around the place surrounded by nature 😍 Couldn't recommend it more !! We will definitely be back! (Easy access - clear instructions on our way, nice road and close to Brighton - 30 mins by car, without the busy environment over there and the opportunity to visit nearby natural places)

Room was out of this world, with all the lovely extras, like herbal tea, Earl grey, Coffee bottled water and cookies The bathroom was heaven, walk in shower wet room with an oversized oval bath, luxury towels and star of the art heating controls, also the room was nice and warm for us when we arrived, which was well noted after coming in from a nasty storm. Loved the furniture super comfortable kingsize bed and like new sheets on the the bed.

I have nothing negative to say about this place.

The ambiance was seen through from the drive up, through check in, the grounds and court yard through to the room.

The only down side was a lack of any dinning or bar facility on site after the tea shop closes. Having to drive to the next nearest establishment rather restricts option. A real shame as a local brewery is down the road which supplies the tea room but just not after 5.00!
