The location is spot on for us as visiting relatives a little distance away. The staff are friendly and helpful the room whilst having a tight bathroom was tidy and comfortable. We had an evening meal from the restaurant which was very good. The breakfast menu was more than adequate for our needs and there was plenty of room in the car park.

The only drawback is the traffic noise from outside. The main road is fairly busy and as the weather was very warm we had to have the window open which allowed road noise in at all hours. The bathroom is a little bit on the small side but not a big letdown as the bedroom space is a good size with a comfortable bed.

The food in the pub was fantastic! Very generous portions of excellently cooked dishes. The staff were always pleasant, friendly & helpful.

The mattresses on our single beds were not comfortable. They needed turning or replacing, as they were very "flattened" on one side, so it was like sleeping on a hillside all night! There was no sound proofing between the floors, so we could hear the person above us whenever he/she moved. Breakfast was okay, but Granary bread is NOT ordinary sliced brown bread! Disappointing.

A nice clean room with everything I needed. Comfortable bed. Pleasant staff.

Only one issue. A serious lack of sockets. I looked all round the room and could only find one double socket. This had the TV and kettle plugged into it. This double socket was placed directly behind tge TV so every time I wanted to use a socket (e.g. for charging phone), I had to very carefully (so that I didn't accidentally push the TV onto the floor) go behind the TV to change plugs over, which was very awkward! Maybe a 4 gang extension lead would be a good idea?

our room was spotless . The corridor to our room smelled lovely and you could see from the carpet pile that the carpets had been hoovered and were always spotless . Liked the notice that requested guests removed outdoor dirty footwear before walking on the carpets . The room was lovely and warm , beds very comfortable and spotless and lovely smelling bedding . The accommodation had a separate entrance so you didn’t have to keep walking through the pub/ restaurant. The Wheatsheaf was a lovely family pub, warm and inviting decor . Friendly and helpful bar staff . Good choice for breakfast too . Thank you for a good 3 nights stay .

This is no fault of the Wheatsheaf - Noisy uncaring guests up above us -but you can hardly hold the Wheatsheaf responsible for that . I thought maybe a little polite notice in the upstairs rooms could say to be aware of thumping across the room as there are guests below who may be sleeping . Only small criticism was the room TV - which doesn’t warrant the hotel being marked down , but if the hotel was ever going to refurb then maybe a slightly larger TV and on the wall ?as the one there was just that bit too small for me to see . I understand a larger one would dominate the table so maybe on the wall .

We had a great stay. It was in a convenient location to a wedding nearby. Room was spacious, very clean and comfortable. The staff were really friendly and helpful. Loved the pub downstairs, was great for a post drink after the wedding. And excellent breakfast too.

Only downside was that the rooms aren't soundproof so we could hear everything from other rooms next to us and below us. But for one night this didnt both us at all.

Staff very nice.food was very good. Bedroom was very stuffy, no bedside light? The manager did warn us that the original room that we had booked, had a problem with the water pressure in the new shower that had been installed, so we did down grade to the twin room, which in hindsight was a mistake.

As above, room was small, stuffy, and I forgot to ask on leaving for our £10.00 back as we had downgraded.

Location, relative to the venue for the wedding we came for, was excellent. Breakfast was very good indeed. We didn’t eat here other than the breakfast so can’t comment on that. Our daughter’s single room was ok but the en suite shower was without sufficient head room to stand up because of the sloping ceiling. Everything else was fine and we would recommend this place.

Headroom in our daughter’s single room shower.

Breakfast was outstanding. We also had dinner in the bar which was also very good; generous portions and good service. Location was ideal for access to ferry at Newhaven, the pub itself is well worth visiting. Value for money.

Room was a bit noisy, both road noise and from other guests. Could really do with double glazing.

The location was excellent set in the village of Cuckfield and very easy to find with a reasonable size private carpark. The room was a good size single, good size bathroom with a bath and shower over the bath with a good selection of bath and shower gels and soaps. The bed linen was clean and the towels were excellent quality. The evening food selection was very good with a specials board and was well presented and there was a good selection of ales and wines at a reasonable price. The breakfast, which was included was excellent and booked fresh to order. Staff were very welcoming and friendly and although there was a private party going on, nothing was too much trouble. I would definitely recommend and would return next time I'm in the area.

Although I can't think of anything majorly wrong, there are a couple of minor niggles which I feel could be easily rectified. There was only 1 double power socket behind the TV, so if you need to charge anything i.e. mobile phone etc, you need to unplug it to plug in the kettle so I felt either another double socket next to the bed would be of benefit and/or change the existing socket with one that has USB charging points? The other minor niggle was the emergency light unit in the room above the door had a green light on it that is perminately on to indicate that it is in working order in the event of power failure especially during an evacuation. This I feel could be diverted to indicate this outside the room. As I said other than these 2 minor issues, everything else was excellent.

A very pleasant stay, excellent evening snack (we had had a large lunch elsewhere) and breakfast. Comfortable beds and warm enough.

Our only concern was the sound insulation in the ceiling above us. We were in room 2 on the ground floor and there was considerable noise from above as what sounded either like furniture being moved, or a herd of elephants moving about. This lasted for about half an hour from half past eleven and started again the next morning at about half past seven.
