The staff were very helpful. The place has a great atmosphere. The pub food was very good and breakfast was fantastic. Prices were reasonable, given portion sizes, but more expensive than many other gastro pubs that we have been to/stayed at. We loved the nice touches, like Welsh cakes on our first night's stay and a complimentary tea, coffee etc.in our room. On our second day, we were at a wedding in the middle of Usk and found local taxis non-existent in the evening. It costs £25 to go 2 miles if taxis are ordered from Newport. It is not a great walk back along the roads from Usk. There are lovely country walks in the area though.

The room was warm, despite cool weather and apparently no heating on, so not sure why. Modern shower room but a bit tight for space. Road noise if windows left open but good double glazing reduces the noise. The room service forgot to put milk in our room on our second night and (sadly)we were not given those yummy Welsh cakes again on our second night's stay.

I have never had a better welcome for our dog. A dog blanket, towel, two bowls, treats, and a daily dog sausage was provided. It cost £15 extra per night for the dog. The weather was very wet and we had muddy boots, shoes, and paws after tree planting over two days. We did our best to keep the room clean and dry. A washable carpet runner inside the door would have helped as we tried to cover the carpet in old towels we brought from home. The room was lovely and warm and had everything we needed. There was a large, convenient car park right next to the room, and a large grassy area to exercise dogs. A waste bin was provided just outside the room.

Lack of space at the entrance to the room. Limited room for hanging up wet clothing to dry. The large wardrobe may be great for keeping wedding dresses etc clean but isn’t practical in wet weather when damp clothing needs to dry in the room and there is only one chair back and a radiator to hang it all on.

A wonderful place to stay - so comfortable and the grounds of the accommodation and pub are so prettily landscaped with the fountain and lights in the trees. Food was plentiful and soooo tasty. A superb place to stay with a dog - The doggie play park was an exceptional surprise, and lovely to be able to take him with us to breakfast where he was given his own cut-up doggie sausage. ! Staff were friendly and lovely too. We stayed overnight on the way to mid Wales but wish we could have stayed longer! 100/10

Can’t think of anything

The Greyhound was very impressive - good rooms (warm, decent shower etc), excellent food (including veggie and an excellent breakfast), great staff, and most importantly exceedingly dog friendly (and not just dog accepting). From dog bowls/blankets/treats in the room, to the secure Dog Paddock round the back, to the Dog Sausauge at breakfast.... and dog-loving staff. And our dog liked meeting some of the other canine guests...... We will most likely stay again.

The only negative is that you can hear the traffic from the A449 overnight (although The Greyhound is on a country lane), but this didn't keep us awake and wouldn't put us off coming back.

I really enjoyed my stay in the Greyhound! I stayed there when cycling the lon las cymru cycle route across Wales. All the staff were really friendly in the bar restaurant. Jake deserves a particular mention, he sorted out my bike and helped me wash my wet, dirty cycling clothes, what a service! The room was scrupulously clean and very comfortable. The food was delicious and the Guinness was great, the bar area is really cosy. Breakfast in the morning was delicious, it set me up well for another day of cycling in relentless Welsh rain! A memorable stay made very special by the amazing staff. Highly recommended!

Very dog friendly with an enclosed paddock for them to run off the lead and dog bowls/towel/treats/bags in the room plus doggie sausages for breakfast. The dogs had a whale of a time. The room was a good size with a nice shower and some tasty Welsh cakes on arrival. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice and good options for vegans/veggies. Temperature inside was warm enough even though it was freezing outside. No noise from any neighbouring rooms. All staff were very friendly and welcoming, even providing a nice jug of water for the flowers we had delivered. Plenty of parking spaces right outside the door too.

Bed was rather soft for our liking and the Wi-Fi in the accommodation never worked, although we had decent 4G mobile data reception so it wasn't a problem. Yes, the location is close to the A449 and there is low-level background traffic noise. It wasn't really an issue for us (even with a noise-sensitive dog) as we knew about it in advance and rarely wanted to open the windows, but appreciate it could be different if the weather was overly warm.

Lovely pub and accommodation . All the staff were friendly . The accommodation is extremely clean and welcoming bottle of water and Welsh cakes a nice touch. Good stock of drinks at the bar,and lovely food in the evening. Good that Kelly has the wonderful thought to reserve her staying guests a table for meals in the evenings as it does get busy. Great breakfast, plenty of choices from cereals, porridge, to cooked breakfasts. Lovely fruit juices to choose from and excellent coffee. Be happy to book again if we're in the area.

We were simply looking for somewhere to stay whilst travelling in the area, but had not expected the delightful evening we had at the Greyhound Inn. The afternoon & late evening sun flooded the wonderful patio area (some parts covered). The staff were very friendly, and gave prompt and attentive service. Well cooked food. The accommodation was to a very high standard, with deep pile carpets, underfloor heating in the en-suite. Very comfortable.

Nothing.

From the warm welcome to the delicious food everything was exceptional. The room was clean and comfortable and the patio outside the French windows with table and chairs a lovely place to relax. The gardens were beautiful and very well maintained. We enjoyed sitting in the bar for a chat with people. Breakfast had a very good choice of menu and all served freshly cooked.

Very dog friendly - dog treats, blanket and food bowls supplied. Our dog loved the paddock too! Lovely comfy and clean room with access to a great patio area. Staff all were very friendly, especially Kelly the owner. Made us feel very much at home. Food in pub was excellent too. Brill brekie including extra sausage for our dog! Gardens lovingly looked after for a great Outlook. Lovely country views and close to beautiful Usk. Looking forward to coming back in September!

Being close to a main road made it a bit noisy but double glazed windows helped with that so not so bad at night!
