I sometimes had breakfast in restaurant, sometimes in my room. I was often not back till 8ish so often had dinner in room too. Meals were wonderful. Staff were excellent. The room was comfortable and I was lucky to have a view of the gardens. All the staff were friendly and took an interest in my house move. I had a bout of sciatica during my stay and staff were kind enough to get me ice. Cath was wonderful. She always made sure I was ok and well looked after Such a kind and pleasant atmosphere everywhere.

My only wish was a lift to my upstairs room. On checking in , receptionist did look to see if there was a ground floor room for me , but all were taken. It states on booking form , no lift and add details of any disabilities, but the hotel was just what I wanted , so booked anyway.

Lovely reception area, function room as we were attending a party, price of drinks was very good.

Twin room we were in was quite small for £130 per night. Breakfast not included in this price either and would have been another £28. Also, check out was not until 11am but we were disturbed by Room service knocking the door and trying to enter at 9.00 a.m. and 9.27 a.m. to service the room. When I responded to the first knock and lady trying to open the door that we had not checked out, we heard her huff really loudly. We did laugh at the time but on reflection, felt that was a bit rude. Did not stop the second occasion either but I believe that may have been a different lady. Reception staff both on check in and out were very good indeed.

The breakfast was lovely.Plenty of variety to choose from.Service was really good.Coffee or tea served immediately on arrival at your table .I was in the pool every morning for my swim.They were really very nice,and friendly,and said if we needed anything.To just ask..Snacks or meals readily anytime of the day,so lively the Staff were.Nothing was too much trouble to prepare for us.

The heating wouldn't work In our room,and as it got to early evening ,the rooms were quite cold,but didn't like to complain,as we weren't sure if the heating was meant to be on., but we just persevered,with our dressing gowns on.Really nice room,and comfortable to relax in the late evening .

The garden suite was spacious and comfortable and the massages great! The breakfast was copious and varied and we really enjoyed it.

The food in the lounge was not up to the standard of the hotel. The beef burger was definitely not 100% beef, even though the manager (?) swore blind that it was. We do know what beef tastes like and it wasn’t this - definitely mixed with sausages meat, which could have been a problem if we were Muslim, Jewish or had allergies. The fish and chips weren’t much better - dry and soggy. Maybe it was a just a one-off?

Rachel was very helpful on the front reception desk. All Staff were very accommodating, Caleb gave us a warm friendly greeting, service by Marta was efficient and friendly, the first morning the breakfast food was exceptional, the second morning unfortunately the food had been standing for too long and not only did I have a cold plate of food but very rubbery too, that said, I took my plate back and told the staff I was dissatisfied and they were very quick to rectify it and replace the food for hot fresh food.. We had an evening meal which was very tasty, excellent chef!

Bigger pots of tea and coffee..the staff were quick to replenish the drinks…maybe better checks on food to keep it fresh and hot.

Love the massive fire place even though it's summer so not in use. 5. We had a good night sleep with comfortable beds and pillows. 6. Light entertainment music in the lounge in the evening. 7. I would recommend the hotel and spa and come again.

1. My room doors didn't shut smoothly. Room hall mirror light did not work. 2. The room was a bit chilly.

Staff were very friendly and efficient. Spacious public areas, and the pool and jacuzzi were great.

The food in the lounge was poor. Had the Pie and Port. Asked specifically if it was "soup with a lid", and was told it was a real pie.It was soup with a lid, microwaved to death and not worth the money. Similarly breakfast was just OK. I understand buffets can be hit and miss dependant on how busy, but the bacon just tasted of stale fat, eggs should have ben thrown and replaced. Black pudding was undercooked. Sausages were well cooked and of good quality.

I was slightly disappointed as I had contacted yourselves asking where could we go as we was celebrating our anniversary and I was hoping that as it states in emails to let know if you was celebrating anything that we would have had a little something towards our anniversary all I had back was an email saying where we could visit would have been nice if we had a bottle of wine or something

Beautiful furnishings and large open lounge. The whole place was very clean, very homely. The room was nice and cozy. Tea facilities were great especially the walkers ginger biscuits. The food was delicious too, breakfast & an evening meal. The grounds looked absolutely amazing. I wish I had longer to use the facilities and explore.

No lift for those with mobility restrictions(my sister booked on our behalf)

The staff, Room and Spa facilities were lively, the afternoon tea was delicious and plenty of it, overall a very nice stay and recommend.

We had the Room with the fire pit which was a big draw for us, we had it lit about 8:30pm and by 9pm the manager asked if we could put it out because upstairs was complaining that smoke was going in their room, I said no because we weren’t doing anything wrong and was asked if we wanted to move room and again I said no, the manager was lively and understanding, but by the time 10:30pm came around we were very conscious and felt guilty which we Goulding have to feel as it’s a part of the room itself, management need to look at whether the fire pit is feasible if smoke is an issue upstairs as it spoilt what should have been our first night away as Husband and wife which was a shame
