Breakfast was excellent quality, had plenty of variety and was served by very attentive staff. The hotel is located in a quiet location within easy, level walking distance of the lovely, floral town of Usk. This offered additional choice of eating places, independent shops and a lovely setting. A fuel station very close to the hotel allows easy access to sundries which may be required during the stay. The hotel gardens are spacious and relaxing, offering both sun (if you are lucky) and shade. The hotel lacks certain facilities (e.g. pool and gym) but that suited us -- too much expansion of facilities could ruin the ambiance of this lovely country house hotel. The owner Alex was most welcoming and a source of useful information.

The location was great the gardens and grounds were well looked after the evening meal was very well organised and food was amazing

The rooms need a bit of updating there was a bit of an old smell as we entered the room. the breakfast was the complete opposite of the evening meal poor organisation, was seated straight away and then left for about 25 min until we asked someone if we could order. the coffee and toast arrived then waited probably another 20 min for breakfast which to be honest wasn’t great which is a shame

Very comfortable bed, very good breakfast and dinner. Friendly helpful staff. Everywhere very well maintained and cared for, even if slightly dated. Easy parking. We didn't have time to explore the area as we were there for quick stay for family reasons, but would happily visit again to explore.

A few little home comforts in the room, tissues , etc. would have been welcome. TV too small and old. Some fresh air/freshener needed for lingering cooking smells on the stairs.

A lovely hotel with easy access to Usk. The staff were superb, and they could not be faulted for their attention to our needs. We arrived with our 2 large dogs, our room was a bit small for the 4 of us, but we were given a larger room when we asked. There was a good choice of items on the breakfast and dinner menus, and the food was really good.

Our dogs were not allowed anywhere in hotel, other than our room. It would be nice to have somewhere to sit inside with our dogs.

Impressive facade and lovely grounds with many trees redolent with bird song. Slightly old fashioned but delightful interior in keeping with the period of the property. A very good breakfast, served at table. Extremely comfy beds, although somewhat creaky floorboards in places. Three separate comfortable and quiet guest lounges. Attentive staff.

Sadly there was scaffolding right outside windows of two out of our three bedrooms, but they are obviously keeping up with renovations/decoration. Upper floors accessed via stairs only.

Breakfast was absolutely excellent, my son reckoned it to be the best hotel breakfast he had eaten. Very good tea, coffee, toast, etc. Mushrooms perfectly cooked. Everyone very polite and attentive without being in any way overpowering.

Would have preferred a genuine double bed rather than two adjacent singles. View from the rear of the hotel was less than inspiring - the flat roof of an extension to the original building.

Loved the location, good amount of parking spaces, huge gardens and the interior was just amazing like transporting you into a different era. Plenty rooms downstairs to relax and have a chat. Good size room, very welcoming. Friendly staff, amazing food. It was a really nice staycation. We’ll be back soon.

There was nothing not to like. The only thing we didn’t like it was that we needed to leave that place

Food was incredible,as was the service from the waiting staff, and the reception staff was very welcoming

Pillows were really flat and unsupportive, bed was very squeaky .the door on bathroom could do with a paint and the shower door seal at the bottom could be replaced as looked dirty.there was tea and coffee, but no real touches to make it more welcoming. I didnt think it was good value for money

Well maintained and beautifully presented property. Friendly, professional staff who provide great service. Breakfast and dinner were really good, freshly prepared, and good quality food.

Very minor - but the toiletry items (shower gel, shampoo, soap) were a bit of a let -down - very small and the experience would feel more special if these were replaced with a higher quality re-fillable bottle approach from a branded or local supplier

A little bit different from a normal hotel with a good old feel to it and the location was great and ideal for us.

Nit picking and I know we could have asked for more but we stayed a night and there was not enough toiletries in the family room for all four of us (all to shower in the evening on arrival and the next morning before we left).
