The location was good. Close to Universal Studios Hollywood and easy to get to from Anaheim.

Carpets were very dirty to the point our feet were black from walking on the carpet. The Front Office staff member was rude and very unhelpful. The room was booked for 4, and we were provided with 2 towels. When we were asked for more, it was like we were asking for his firstborn. He tried to charge us twice for the rooms that were already paid via booking.com and then proceeded to tell me I was lying about paying even after showing the confirmation email and my bank statement.

It was nice and clean. The people at the front desk were super helpful. Especially Anthony!! Shout out for giving me a quick run down of things. He was very inviting and I'm glad I got to meet him if only for checking in. The beds were just right not too hard not to worn down. Same with the pillows. The sheets looked clean and so did the room. The view to the little court yard thru the sliding glass door was a nice surprise! The flowers were def blooming. Thanks

Bathroom is a little small, i would imagine larger people would have a hard time in there. I felt awkward and cramped even though I'm short. We were only there to sleep tho so we made the best of it for 2 nights.

Very well furnished and put together. Central AC keeps the room cold throughout the night. Size of room and available amenities far exceeds 2-star rating.

The covers were a tad itchy but nothing unbearable.

The front desk associate was SUPER friendly! He put us in a great room that fit our needs since my son was in a wheelchair. Check in was a breeze and the motel was clean. For being an older motel, it was comfortable and roomy.

It needs some updating. I can imagine it was an amazing motel when it was new! The garden in the middle of the motel didn't live up to some of the pics I've seen, and the bridge that goes over the pond was roped off. The bridge also needs a new paint job. The pics show a vibrant red bridge but the bridge is actually faded chipped paint (and closed). Not that it took away from the comfort of the hotel, it just needs to be refreshed since it's a focal point for all the rooms. Also the only ice maker is in the lobby and if you park in the back, you have to walk around outside to get to the front doors to go get ice after 9pm. So just plan ahead ;)

The staff, in particular, the lady who helped me with my taxi problem Monday morning. The early morning gentleman called a taxi, it never arrived, Time was getting crucial. He tried again and was put on hold. His shift ended, and this young lady took over. She tried another cab company, they said it wpuld arrive soon. Soon was going to be in 20 minutes. Time now to get to the airport was critical. The lady called Uber for me on her account, (I compensated her), she kept in contact with them until they arrived. I made my flight with 2 minutes to spare, that's right, 2 minutes. Thank God for her intervention and consideration. She deserves recognition , as does the rest of your staff!!!!

The Mikado is an excellent place for a very reasonably priced stay. The area is quite pleasant, and largely residential. The staff people I interacted with (primarily Anthony) were very personable and competent. I was so happy with the Mikado that I also stayed there on my return trip from Monterey, a few days after my initial stay.

There was a little wear in the room, but really nothing I found objectionable. If you want perfection, I imagine you could find a room elsewhere in the area -- for another hundred bucks or two! Also, the "breakfast" was minimal. I'm OK with that, but some rolls, toast, fruit, etc. would be a nice step up.

The hotel has a Polynesian/Japanese restaurant on-site and there is a Middle Eastern and Thai restaurant within a 5 minute walk from the hotel. I was also pleasantly surprised that there was a small continental breakfast available, since I didn't read this from the website. Lastly, I was glad there was still some Japanese flare in the garden. I can imagine that the Miyako Hotel was once exceptionally nice in its heyday but I would still stay there again.

The handle to the sliding doors to the balcony were very loose and the locking mechanism did not work. It was sad to see the Japanese garden needing repair. The hotel is next to the street and I did hear a bit of traffic sometimes but not enough to affect my sleep.

Really nice staff. They had some drink boxes, coffee and granola bars available in the morning which was nice. Great location to Universal Studios. Yummy restaurants close by. Grocery store ten minute walk away.

The floors and bathroom were old so a bit grungy, but the linens etc. were all very clean. The fridge froze everything and didn’t have a temperature dial for us to adjust it.

Property was a good value. Staff was polite and accommodating. Pool was great and parking was plentiful and very cheap. We were only there to sleep so it worked totally fine for us with no concerns. Also, had microwave and fridge. Area around was clean and safe.

Needs update/renovations. Carpets had stains and door needed to be closed very hard or it wouldn’t close/lock. Bathroom had peeling wallpaper and enamel in tub deteriorating.

The location is great. The pool was not heated but the water was warm and very nice, I used the jaccuzi too. The room was big with a nice big window and balcony, and a great bed. The bathroom and shower are very good too.

The air conditioning in the room was very noisy and I felt cold all night (the blanket was thin). They charged me for the parking (I begged for a deal) and there was no breakfast included with the rate (just coffee and little cereal bars), I felt like that was kind of cheap from such a nice hotel and for the price I paid. Also I don't like carpet in hotel rooms but that is just me.
