Lighthouse Lodge & Cottages

We loved the location, it was so close to the beach and it wasn’t a super busy area. We loved that it was single story and the parking was nice and close.

We noticed our room in 317 had some mold and there was something really stinky that was coming out of our AC unit. It was really hard to open the windows, some wouldn’t open at all and we didn’t want to force any of them open.

Room was very spacious and they gave us a king bed though we booked for a queen at no extra cost. Water in pool was nice and not just heated but warm! I enjoyed a little exercise in the comfortable pool. Jacuzzi was also great and it actually worked! Staff was friendly and helpful, except when we arrived...

....when we arrived, there was a whole bunch of people waiting for someone to show up and check them in! We left and came back about an hour later and there was no more line! Premises and rooms are a little run down and show their age. But my wife and I are not too picky, i.e. we don't expect 5 star facilities at 3 star prices.

The pool and hot tub were great although a little outdated. The breakfast bags were a sweet touch. The room was clean for the most part and the walk in shower was very nice.

The rooms were a bit stuffy. There was some hair in the towels, which was a bit icky. The pool was nice and accessible, but it felt overly chlorinated. To be clear I would rather it be over-chlorinated than under, but I did worry about my toddler swimming in such high chlorine content. He didn't seem to mind it though :) The cemetery view is a bit creepy and should maybe be mentioned to guests before booking in case that is a hard no for anyone.

The location is AMAZING and the staff are fantastic. We were travelling with two dogs and were given no problems and nobody entered the room when requested not to (do not disturb signs adhered to).

Bed sheets did not fit on queen beds and to begin with the room was damp although this was easily remedied by putting the heat on and using a fan to circulate the air. There was also a few spiders, but to be expected due to location. Could do with a better TV.

Location, our room 204 had a great balcony, fireplace, great TV channels, and the front desk clerk was very friendly and efficient.

Bed was a little harder than I like, but perfect for my husband. In the bathroom the bathroom door needs to be complete shut (it opens inward) before you can open the shower door. Also while stepping inside the bathroom in order to close the door it is a tight squeeze in between the door and the shower and the bathroom sink. For anyone of a plus size stature it will be hard to close the bathroom door once inside.

I am not normally difficult but the first room I looked at was depressing to me. The staff handled my request for another room with concern and cheerfulness and upgraded me to a lovely bug room with a fireplace and a balcony. Parking was also very easy. I enjoyed my stay and will recommend Lighthouse Lodge to anyone looking for a place to stay in Pacific Grove.

The breakfast us a little unimaginative.

I have now stayed at three hotels in Pacific Grove near the ocean this year and this was by far the nicest and best orrganized. My only complaint was that the ample hot water in the very spacious bathtub and shower ran a bit TOO hot for safety, and that the high sides of the tub might be difficult for someone with disabilities to nativage well. There wer only two of us, but the cottage with a separate den and pullout bed was easily spacius enough for a family , with sliding provacy doors between them and dual entrances to the bathroom. Everything was clean when we arrived, with no smell of sanitizers of scented cleaning prodicts, as I requested. The front desk is staffed round the clock which makes checkin and dealing with any orblems much easier. No shared walls with other uitsmakes for a rstful stay and plenty of privacy. I told staff I need to leave early in the mmorning to drive to work over the hill and they porvided a breakfast bag the night before. Vry friendly and pleasant stafing! Closet space was ample and well stocked, as was the bathroom. The mattress was quite comfortable, not overly hard or soft.

Sraff could have been more knowledgable about the operation of heating system and wifi,(though we figured it out.) More simple signage with arrows etc to the numbered cottages would be helpful as the driveways/ roads are twisty and lined with old trees. The beajfast bags could have been less processed carbohydrates or better quality baked goods that were not all sweet (such as a bagel and cream cheese or homemade or retaurant-quality rather than mass-market uffis and energy bars.

It's definitely all about location, location. Very close to the beach, golf, wharf, Asilomar State Park. Lots to see and do.

When making the on-line reservation with Booking.com was quoted the fido friendly nightly rate. Upon checking-in at Lighthouse Lodges/Cottages, I was charged an additional $50 for the dog. Very disappointed. Seemed like a bait and switch.

Very positively surprised - I had lower expectations given the score on booking.com / Google and the place was really superb! The room was very big and spacious, with a balcony, high ceilings Very clean High quality toiletries provided Very comfortable bed

The only downside was breakfast. I didn’t expect one, and getting a bag with some snacks was a nice surprise. Unfortunately, the quality was so poor I honestly think it’s better not to give out anything… It was a bag of sugar really - sweet juice, a cereal bar, a pre-packed muffin and an apple - you get diabetics as an extra. I really hope people don’t eat that as their first meal of the day!! The location is somehow subjective - ideally I’d stay somewhere closer to downtown, but Uber worked fine (around 8-10usd) and it was very quiet / residential neighbourhood

Everything was great, the room was great, the bathroom was good. The little frig, coffee maker were great also. The fireplace was great but we did not use it. Everything about the Lighthouse Lodge was great, it was quiet and our room was just outside where you could sit by the fire.

This was our third time staying at the Lighthouse Lodge, and every time was great. This time we stayed, our ceiling fan did not work, we could not get the windows open to get some air moving in our room, the spa tub could use some non slip striping.
