staff was nice and helpful

why were people sliding menus under my door all night. it was weird

The location was great! Very close to Old Town and also close to public transport and central for Ubers. Although the king bed room that I booked was not available the first night, the morning front desk staff was great and had us moved to a room with the amenities that I had reserved.

The property didn't seem to have much security. There were homeless people sleeping next to the entrance to one wing downstairs and a random woman wandering inside that they had to escort out of the building. We were woken up one night because maintenance was looking for someone who was smoking out the place through the ventilation. The front desk staff in the evenings, both at check in and other nights were not very friendly or helpful.

The hotel sits at the north end of Historic Old Town San Diego and the Presidio. Just across the main road are several areas with shops and restaurants celebrating the Historic Old Town theme. A very good Mexican restaurant, Casa Guadalajara, is just a short walk away. Also a short walk away are the trolley and bus stops/stations that can take you to Balboa Park and the Zoo, or Downtown San Diego, or Sea World. There is a very good restaurant that serves breakfast and light dinners in the hotel. My room with a king size bed was a good size and had a large nicely laid out bathroom. In addition to the big screen TV, the room came with a refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker. The hotel staff was always available, very friendly, and very helpful. On site self-parking was included with the cost of the room and was easy to access and close to the hotel entrances. I had a very nice time there and will likely come back to stay again.

Location, cleanliness and pool!! This property is very clean and close by all San Diego has to offer. Quick freeway access and public transportation hub right near by. Ideal for the “walking” traveler. Beds are oversized and comfortable. The lobby is a nice place to get some work done. Fantastic food at the bar with a great staff to compliment the environment. This location really worked hard to make it an experience rather than just a place to “crash” Business friendly with a laid back vacationesque vibe!! Happy Birthday!!

There wasn’t much to not like

The location is convenient... right in Old Town, close to beaches and attractions. The staff were friendly and the hotel restaurant is great. Very family friendly and loved the sense of security.

Its not so much that we didn't like it but the carpet/sofa bed in the room could've been cleaner. The carpet felt almost damp and there was a bit of a smell. Not a great feeling when walking barefoot. The bed is also very firm. The shower door was a bit wonky and didn't close all the way so every time you showered, there was a puddle of water on the floor.

Everything was great

I had to make the reservation myself, when I asked if they had the Booking.com reservation they said they had no reservation by Booking.com. Then the first night there after we checked in with my reservation, the reservation by booking.com showed up and they called me about it....at 2000! This is the third time that a hotel had told me that they had no reservation through booking.com. Once we were held up for an hour while I called booking.com because they had no booking.com reservation.....why go through booking.com if only to find out there's no reservation made? This is despite having an email confirmation etc. I will not use booking.com again because I now have to check on the reservations to make sure they are really made.

Very clean, quiet location, restaurant on site, pool and jacuzzi were great. I appreciated the permanent shampoo and shower gel bottles in the shower that get refilled instead of wasting tons of plastic on little bottles. Mini fridge and microwave in the room which is a huge plus!!

View to the freeway from the room, rates were a bit expensive for a Garden Inn, parking lot didn’t have clear spots marked so a lot of people took up two spots. No espresso machine for my morning lattes.

The Staff was very accommodating and friendly. We were offered a 1st floor room for our 10 day stay (which was in a quiet area). We were also able to park in the back area close to our room. The hotel is also walking distance to great restaurants and Old Town.

I should have listened more closely to hotel Parking Garage costs. $25.00 nightly which we didn't end up using much.

The restaurant staff and housekeepers were nice. The rooms were clean and comfortable and quiet. Kids enjoyed the pool.

They offered the same exact breakfast daily. They could have had more choices for pastries and breads. Maybe another hot cereal choice like malt o meal or cream of wheat, spme hard boiled eggs and waffles, or pancakes. Also, the young front desk people were not very knowledgeable or willing to give information on hotel or the area. We did not know there was a parking garage until another guest told us when we were leaving. Asked front desk about restaurants and shops. They were no help. Also, the pool should remain open a bit later on weekends. Many guests wanted to swim and they shut the pool at 1000pm on a Friday night. No change machines for laundry.

The hotel was amazing. super spacious building with great parking. The first night in the hotel room was super comfortable. Huge bed and over 6 pillows. I slept like a baby & I woke up a god. They had great cable tv…..so you know I put some SpongeBob square pants and open the curtains so I can see the view of old town from my window. They had a outside pool and a nice fountain so that’s a plus. The shower/ bath was great and both temperatures worked perfect. The staff were super nice and made me feel like I was on the red carpet. They took pictures of me and I gave them few autographs I think I was just signing up for the reward program but I felt like a celebrity. Definitely staying here again.

There wasn’t anything bad about the property maybe if they had a menu for the restaurant because after the shower I was hungry. Hopefully next time they have one in my room because I will order some chicken wings with some cheesy bread.
