Old Town Inn

This was the hotel we enjoyed the most on our trip! We only stayed one night. The grounds have beautiful landscaping and there is a lot of love and care in the property. Room was crisp and clean with comfy bed. We got in near midnight, and the front desk staff was friendly and very welcoming and helpful. Free breakfast was a bonus before we went to get brunch in Old Town. Overall just very restful and we wish we had stayed longer, can't wait until we can come back!

Just FYI you are near what I think is a military training center so we heard Star Spangled Banner blasted over the loud speakers off site early in the morning. That may be a perk for you though! Also housekeeping was knocking on the doors at 9 AM and came back again at 10 AM. Checkout is at 11 and we were trying to get some extra sleep as our flight got in very late. Please only send housekeepers to rooms that are fully checked out if it is before checkout time.

Just a short walk to Old Towne San Diego which worked out great because there was absolutely no parking available in Old Towne. So many cars were just wasting time driving up and down the streets and aisles looking for someone to leave. The hotels breakfast offering was also a bonus for me.

The only downfall is the parking. If you drive anything larger than a compact car, parking will be tight. Be careful opening your doors so you don't hit the car parked next to you.

The hotel room was spotless. Friendly staff made us feel like the most important guests! The pool was clean and heated. Breakfast, continental style, had perfect waffles. We felt right at home! I will only stay here in the future.

This is a great value motel in an industrial area. I stayed two nights before a cruise. The nearby Old Town Transit Center is very convenient. Took the free Flyer shuttle from airport. Short daylight walk to motel. Used transit trolley to get to downtown SD. The motel property is older but well kept. My room was comfortable and spotless. Included fridge and microwave. I ordered a meal delivered from Pizzeria Bella and it was delish. Ate leftovers the next day. The breakfast is included: waffles, hardboiled eggs, yogurt, pastries, bagels and toast. I will stay here again.

As a female solo traveller, I would not walk in area at dark.

Extremely friendly staff . It was particularly busy but they kept their cool even in the 98 degrees! Very comfortable room. We were on highest floor - access to stairs and lift are by room key so felt extra safe here. Absolutely lovely pool area - pool towels provided free of charge. Free dvd loan for guests. Free coffee in lounge all day. Took us 6 mins to walk to Old town - we are 2 middle aged ladies and we were worried about the underpass but it was used by rail and bus commuters so we felt safe. Didn’t use it at night though. Very close to Sea World - could have got bus but very lazy and used car (35 dollar all day fee for parking at the resort) and took just 7 mins. Believe the bus would have taken 30 mins each way due to walking to and from stops, but a lot cheaper (less than 5 dollars we think).

The best motel I’ve ever seen in the US! Staff was kind and welcoming, you have to ask them about discounted tickets for attractions around town, they will find you something! The breakfast provided was nice, and their pool was pristine. Last but not the least, our “petite King” room was super comfortable, special mention to the DVDs and the DVD player in every room! It was so nice… +++ the location is great! You can easily walk 5-7 minutes to the Old Town State Park, which I highly recommend!

my only “problem” would be the absence of fruits for breakfast

I love love this place. We stayed here several times before. Its beautiful, the small king room was perfectly designed with your every need in mind. I was sooooo impressed with what the designer did with the space. The two queen beds were very comfortable. Staff very professional, courteous and welcoming. The price is very reasonable. Its perfectly located in walking distance of old town. The only reason l didn't give a 10 rating is because of the breakfast. They didn't have bagels, waffles or toast. So they had boil eggs but nothing to eat it with.. There was a sign saying bagels coming soon. I don't know how long the sign has been there but come on you can purchase bagels at Costco. I guess for some people that may have been minor considering they had Oatmeal, yogurt, coffee, fruit, sweet pastries, OJ, boil eggs and lemon water. Lol 😆 l guess its me that loves bread.

Disappointed that they didn't have bagels. That's it lol 😆

Very friendly, helpful staff. The all seemed eager to help with a smile on their faces! Central location and free on site parking. (The lot was a little tight, but there’s plenty of parking spaces) We had a car but I don’t think we would have felt comfortable walking there from the train station or to Old Town, but the hotel itself feels very safe. Even though the rooms have outside doors, I appreciate the key card entry to the staircase. Room was a good size and very clean. The beds were very comfortable. Even though it’s not the newest hotel, there are thoughtful upgrades throughout the room. (Headboard lamps, USB ports…) We didn’t hear a lot of external noise, just the train a couple of times and the neighbors every now and then. They have DVDs, games, and books in the lobby for guest to borrow and on-site paid laundry. The pool has beautiful foliage surrounding it and nice loungers. Breakfast was decent and enough to get your day started. (Tip: grab a pack of handmade tortillas from Cafe Coyote in Old Town and use those to supplement breakfast, they are so good!) We are so happy to have found this hidden gem!
