Lovely old hotel. We were upgraded to a king room with an amazing view. The bed was comfortable and the room in general was very pleasant. The location is perfect. It was easy to walk to Market St and to North Beach. It's more or less what one would expect in a four star hotel and is good value at that level.

The room service breakfast was expensive and very disappointing. My wife had porridge which was watery and tasteless. I had something called a parfait which was lousy supermarket granola, bland yogurt, and fruit that had been chopped up the day before. Tea bag tea with no milk. All for 80 dollars or so after taxes and tips.

I loved being in a historic hotel in San Francisco. It is elegant.....noble......subtle in its beauty. The staff are extraordinary...the valet was fantastic!!! the receptionist was refined. The waiter at the restaurant was professional and personable. Another guest I met in the elevator was a very special gentleman. Staying at the Mark Hopkins was a defining moment in my life. I look forward to my next stay at the Mark Hopkins!

I had to leave right after breakfast to go to a school and to teach........I was sad leaving the Mark Hopkins Hotel.....and the staff and people I had met there.

Excellent staff. All went over and above to make our stay absolutely superb. Hotel rooms on higher floors have amazing views of both the City and bay landscapes. Safe area with several bars and restaurants within a short walk.

Our only ‘niggle’ was there were no draught beers on offer in the hotel bar (Top of the Mark). It’s a personal preference and did not impact our stay greatly, but other guests should be aware.

I loved my room, so golden and lovely. The view is spectacular, from every room and every corner of the hotel, front outdoor entrance. Bridge on one side, water on the other. You cannot beat that.

I would like a microwave in my room. Is that possible? That would be so nice. Also just a littler better direction of cars and pedestrians in the front parking area. Almost hit a couple people as they were tryign to leave and get out of my way, the parking guys seemed kind of clueless, just like there wasn't a system. Make a system, so that its easy to train us, the clients. Instead, I had a bellhopper in a mask, waving his arm rapidly for me to go foreword, and he was tryign to let me go and give me best treatment. However, there were clients exactly ahead so I didn't move. It was frustrating to try and communicate this as the client to the employee, but he didn't have the tools he needed. He needs a system.

Great Classic Hotel on Nob Hill! Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Great bar, Top of the Mark on the roof. Would definitely stay there again. We could even see a peekaboo view of the fireworks on the 4th of July from our 10th floor room.

I noticed the rate was lower after I had prepaid. Would love to get refunded the difference. Shouldn't there be some sort of guarantee from booking.com? Not the hotel's fault.

The staff was friendly. The beds were comfortable and the location was excellent.

I was very disappointed in the restaurant. I couldn’t understand why the restaurant was empty until I tried the food. The steak was dry and the sides so so. There were nights I was tired and didn’t want to go out but I didn’t want to eat at 5e restaurant again. The service was excellent.

Hotel has amazing bones. Rooms on outside are lovely. The rugs are a bit threadbare and in need of replacement. Elevators need some love (rugs and other aspects). Also towels should be upgraded to a better bath towels. Lobby in disrepair. Not what I expect from an Intercontinental but an easy fix. The hotel is so exceptional and its location stunning (the best in San Francisco) that I suggest doing a historical remodeling of the lobby to match the photos in the "museum" in the lobby. The hotel has such an extraordinary history. Do not think it would be inordinately expensive to do so and the property deserves it. All in all we had a wonderful stay. It was a great value and is a magical spot.

We were notified the day before that a significant upgrade was available. The staff was so friendly and accommodating. The room location, view and layout was amazing. The Bose sound system was a very nice amenity.

1. The makeup mirror light did not work and it was very difficult getting ready for a formal event. 2. The hotel has such rich history and I would have expected our suite to be more tastefully decorated and furnished with much higher quality pieces. The ambiance of the suite was a disappointment because of the inconsistent décor. 3. We had breakfast in the hotel restaurant. Both my husband and I had to send our food back because it was hardly warm. We each had a cup of coffee. He had a mixed berry bowl, a side of sausage and wheat toast; I had oatmeal. Our meager meal was over $60 (including tip). Not great food or service for those prices!

Location was great. food was good and service was excellent. We had drinks and snacks at the Top of the Mark and it was terrific!.

getting assistance with luggage when leaving. we called and asked for Raffy's assi6 and waited 20 minutes and then wrangled the luggage ourselves to the front desk. Raffy did quickly come over to help when we got off the elevator. he was not told we had asked for assistance.

We celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary at the Mark Hopkins. We were upgraded to a lovely corner suite. It had a beautiful of the city. We had Champagne and appetizers at the Top of the Mark and we received a beautiful complimentary dessert! We had such a lovely time and a wonderful anniversary.

The bedroom, of the suite, was missing the pictures above the bed and the hangers were visible. The carpet had a few stains. Otherwise, the room was very clean. A little more attention to detail in such a lovely suite would be expected.
