Are yoiu kidding, $70 for a private room with bath in this part of SF? Room was recently remodeled, modern and clean. Bed was very good. Bathroom and shower excellent. Location is top totch. It was actually pretty quiet in our room which had a window on the courtyard. Would stay there again. Perfect if you are seeing a show at the Masonic.

People complained about the front desk staff but I did not find them rude at all. They were trying to do their job, he may have been training a new guy, and their system is a little inefficient. Not sure why they want to see everyone's ID. But that and the $20 keycard deposit seem a small price to pay for the rest of the plusses.

Good location for our needs, room was as expected, and got several good nights sleep. Cooking facilities were good, and has fridges available for us as well

Arrived late evenimg. Simple check-in, though thankfully, our Uber driver had previously warned us not to turn right out of the hostel at night as leads to the homeless/drug area of SF. Hostel staff didn't mention this to us.

The hotel’s location is the best, just 5 minutes from Union Square and 7 from Chinatown. There are also many food shops nearby. The room size was very comfortable, and the bathroom was great too. Additionally, they have a kitchen, laundry, and other shared spaces on the lower floor. We enjoyed how close everything was, and several buses stop nearby, connecting you with the city.

The noise was an issue. I understand that it’s a hostel, and some rooms are shared, but we were on the first floor, and we could hear people stomping and jumping at night, which made it difficult to rest. The same happened with people walking through the hallways late at night. The cleaning starts early, and the loud noise also woke us up. I understand cleaning, but the rest comes down to people being respectful of others' time.

Very good deal with the price paid, it was quiet, clean with shampoo/conditioner/body wash in the bathroom. Also it’s fairly central in the city, with just a short walk to public transport and good places for breakfast. Would definitely come back

We were asked $20 deposit for the room, only by cash. Fair enough, however it would have been nicer to tell us in advance as just come from the airport with of course no cash with me and it was needed at check in. We had to withdraw from an ATM downstairs charging $3.50 withdrawal fee. So maybe tell us in advance about the deposit next time.

Very modern room with great amenities for a hostel (stayed in a private room so wasn't sharing with others). Room was also a lot larger than expected & very comfortable. Location was great & very central to union square , public transport.

Room was quite noisy. The walls are paper thin so you could always hear when other guests were walking up & down the stairs. It's an old building so the floors creak heavily. Wouldn't recommend if you were a light sleeper, or would suggest ear buds. Also didn't like there was only 1x mirror which is located in the bathroom, not ideal when there are 2x people occupying the space. Very easily could have had an extra mirror in the room.

This hostel is really underrated. I stayed in some other hostels in SF with better rating for the same price range (like Green Tortoise or Samesun), and this one is imo the best: Its very clean, I like that in the mixed dorm rooms I stayed there have shutters on windows so you dont wake up from the sun in the room and can sleep more if stayed late, the beds are comfortable, the checkin is 24 hr and you can check in in the last moment or arrive late from airport, the shower has great smelling shampu and soap, they can provide hair drier. Its warm even in cold month. The only think is that there is not much space to work there, but this was not too big problem for me as there were some caffees nearby open relatively late

Staff really didn’t care or make any effort to welcome us. The walls were very thin and you could hear people in the hallway as well as the plumbing throughout the building. Parking is offsite, and cost for overnight parking was $40. The cost they shared with us was listed for less money, and when I told staff the prices went up and the company changed, they fully lied to my face and said the parking company changes all the time. When I spoke to the parking staff prior they said their company changed a year ago. I really felt like the staff didn’t care about us and it put a damper on the experience. People seemed to smoke directly in front of the stairs/entrance and it was gross having to walk through it.

The staff were very pleasant. You're pretty deep into the city but you feel safe. The hostel isn't too far from the nearest BART stop so the walk up the steep SF terrain was only mildly challenging with all my luggage in hand. Good value for the money

The place, like most hostels, can be a little loud. The bedding I was given was not the cleanest and there was evidence of some extensive water damage in the shower. The staff, while pleasant and helpful, were also a little opaque at first having told me I needed $20 cash as a security deposit only to then tell me I could simply leave my ID with them instead.

I was a bit worried about staying here as the reviews aren’t amazing. But I was pleasantly surprised. We were in a standard double room on the first floor which was modern and clean, and pretty quiet as well. I can see how some of the rooms would be louder. The location is good, a few blocks away from the tenderloin area which is where things are pretty dodgy but we could walk out of our hotel in the other direction and not be worried. Given high prices in San Francisco I would say this place is value for money.

I found the staff pretty miserable to be honest - definitely wasn’t a warm welcome. We also didn’t have house keeping one day even though we were out from 8am to 4pm which I thought was pretty poor. The $20 cash deposit is a bit odd but we got it back so no issue there. The kitchen being closed between 10-11am was pretty inconvenient and it seemed like half of that time was so the staff could use it to cook their own food. We never cooked in the kitchen but it was always I use when went in there. Fridge needed better management as it was stuffed with food and pretty filthy.

The best location, near Union Square. Really close to restaurats, bars and facilities in general.

The property is a bit old.
