Staff was amazing from front desk to the events coordinator Sydney. Modern/retro art and decor is on point. They brought back the mini-bar! Rise over Run rooftop restaurant/bar is great. We were upgraded to a suite, which was FANTASTIC. 5 minute walk to the closest Bart portal on Powell st and about 20 minutes walk down to the Embarcadero.

Despite the location itself being conveniently located and the building being beautiful, just across the street is extremely run-down, with homeless and vagrants roaming, and the tart smell of urine in the air. We awoke the next morning to the sound of people fighting in the street and bashing car windows in on a Sunday morning. But that’s just the paradise of San Francisco these days.

The restaurant at night was too crowded and loud to eat in. It was obvious though that many other guests were enjoying their food.

I thought the homeless people outside the window was very sad and depressing. I felt sorry for them doing their laundry in the gutter and picking cigarette butts. I can’t believe beautiful people have to live like that. I wish I could have helped them.

I like thed everything about the hotel. The design, the facilities, the rooms.

The location was a big downer for my family and I. It's located in an area where the streets are populated with homeless people. Doesn't feel very safe to walk around freely.

Rooms are clean and very well appointed especially the bathroom. Beds were comfortable and room was quiet (despite our room facing Turk Street).

No surprises since we knew the area well enough before booking but Market and Turk is a gritty area. The hotel had visible security in front of the hotel entrance. We didn't have any problems and would come back and stay again.

This is a fantastic hotel in the heart of the city, within short walking distance of Union Square. I was so happy with the amenities in the room: plenty of very high quality shower products, spa grade towels and bath robes, comfortable and spotless clean bed with 4 large pillows, even a steamer for clothes. The room we stayed in was chic, had gorgeous wooden furniture and plenty of space for luggage. Last but not least, great minibar and plenty of free water stocked up daily. I also used the gym and it has everything you need - towels, water and all the basic machines. Check out the rooftop bar for some cool views!

As always, the minibar is expensive but that’s nothing new. I would also appreciate it if they offered a buffet breakfast included in the room rate.

Clean modern look with fun, artsy decor. Techno advanced with elevator!

Location is tough as the city has taken a hit and businesses in nighborhood are shuttered and a lot of unhoused people needed to shelter there.

The Line San Francisco offers a chic, comfortable stay in the heart of SoMa, blending modern design with historic charm. Rooms are stylish and functional, featuring minimalist décor and large windows. The hotel’s rooftop bar boasts stunning city views. Ideal for those seeking a mix of style, comfort, and authentic San Francisco atmosphere, The Line provides an engaging, immersive experience in the city’s bustling core.

While The Line San Francisco offers a stylish and comfortable experience, its location near 6th Street may be a drawback for some guests. The surrounding area can feel gritty and is known for a host of interesting characters and a mix of activities that may not appeal to all visitors, especially after dark. Though the SoMa district has a unique charm with diverse cultures and creative energy, it's wise for travelers to be cautious and stay alert when exploring the neighborhood. For those seeking a polished, fully serene environment, the surrounding area may not align with that expectation.

Our room was so lovely it was comfortable, spacious and clean. Our window view was something I enjoyed very much I enjoyed looking out every morning drink a cup of there delicious coffee. We had the view of other beautiful building.

I did not like the location of hotel. The Hotel it's self is beautiful but in a bad area , I did not feel safe walking around out night. There was so many homeless people around it was sad to see. SF is such a beautiful city but it seem like every time I come back to visit the amount of people (homeless) on the streets is increasing. There was so much trash around and the smell on the street is quite bad. Around the hotel it's self was clean but as I mentioned across the street and surrounding it was pretty trashed.

Clean and new. Very nice skyline view. Loved the Free coffee. We also were very happy to see hotel security guarding the hotel entrance.

Location. This hotel is directly in front of the Tenderloin weekly hotel and local liquor store. It is not the hotel's fault, but due to the out-of-control homeless encampments, the sidewalk smelling like urine, and continuous drug dealing and prostitution we witnessed from our hotel room window, we will not be returning to SOMA and the Tenderloin area unless San Francisco gets its act together. I am a Bay Area native and lived in SF in the 90s so I'm so sad to see this city become such a trash town. We were afraid of leaving the hotel and would not walk anywhere. We had to Lyft around town. So sad. One last thing, on Sundays and Mondays the restaurant and bar might not be open. We arrived Sunday at 4 pm and all bars and restaurants were closed until Tuesday morning.

Really comfy room and modern hotel. Very clean, good gym for a hotel and nice finish everywhere.

Location is right on the edge of tenderloin and you are opposite people hanging out on the other side of the street, people experiencing homelessness etc. while it wasn’t problematic it did put you on edge and generally want to Uber everywhere, especially at night. It was more concentrated than you would typically see around SF tourist spots. However the hotel had security in the evening and nobody hanging out in front of the hotel. Hotel staff were fine, but we didn’t get housekeeping on day and they could only send up fresh coffee pods.
