Everything was really good. The room was actually quiter than I would expect, given the other guests and the fact it's a hostel (we stayed in a private queen bed room with ensuite bathroom). The room was on the corner of the building so it sometimes might have been noisy from the street, but again, much less that I would expect. Everything was clean when we arrived, bathroom- good size, hot water took a while to start running but nothing out of normal. Bed comfortable, there was a desk with a mirror, fridge and microwave. Very good price for this central location and the amenities. Breakfast was basic but ok: cereals, milk, coffee, tea, juice, waffles, fruit and yogurt, bread and jam. There is, of course, the kitchen available if you need to cook.

The place has a good location. The kitchen is perfect for cooking. The free breakfast is delicious, especially the coffee. I met nice people: other travelers. The Internet works well and there are spaces to work. In general I recommend it.
My room stank of cannabis (maybe they smoked a moment ago or the floor just stank). That is a great irresponsibility of the person. I'm allergic, I just recovered from the flu and I like places where you can't smoke. And there are places to smoke, not in the room. And the staff changed my room. I know it doesn't depend on the place but it is each person's responsibility. And the staff changed my room. The workers were friendly and professional. The location is good but you also have to be careful, there are many homeless people on the street, you have to be careful with that.

budget-friendly accommodation with a vibrant atmosphere. The hostel's central location makes it convenient for exploring the city's attractions. The staff is friendly and welcoming, creating a comfortable environment for guests. The communal spaces are well-maintained and provide opportunities for socializing with fellow travelers. Overall, Orange Village Hostel is a suitable choice for budget-conscious travelers looking for a lively and well-located place to stay in San Francisco. ps, while the area has alot of homeless and seems like unsafe, people wont bother you and approach you. Imagine Malate, Makati & Baguio combined thats the vibe of the area.
none that i can think of, i didnt expect it really that astonishing, my room was clean and decent. Value for money for the location. PLUS the breakfast is superb for price per night! Would really recommend this place than Amsterdam which offers the same rate but without breakfast.

Great but simple free breakfast (fresh waffles, bread, jams, Nutella, peanut butter, bananas, yoghurts, cereals) Good value for money Plenty of secure storage space in room (1 big locker each, plus 1 underbed storage unit each). Got given a free upgrade to private bathroom Laundry facilities on site ($3 wash, $1.50 dryer) Central location Hostel organised activities to make friends
Upper bunkbed a bit squeaky Be aware there is No shower gel / shampoo (but not an issue, as it is a hostel so did not expect it anyway)

We were really surprised how quiet the room was. we stayed in a three bed-room as a family of three on the third floor. The room had an okay size, we had our own bathroom and everything was clean! There was a fridge and a microwave in the room. Towels and bedding were included. The breakfast was great and offered a good variety (Toast, waffles, yoghurt, fruits, cereals and much more). The location is in the heart of the city close to union square, which makes it easy to explore the typical tourist destinations. The staff were really friendly and helpful.
The location was both a blessing and a curse. After the pandemic there are more homeless and more drug abuses around as I remembered from former visits. There is weed in the whole city of San Francisco - everywhere - and in the hostel as well which leads into interesting encounters at the hostel breakfast as well. The staff had no correct information on public transportation on hand, which I would expect from hostel staff.

It was good to see an upgrade of some things at Orange Village. I have been staying there for the last 10 years when ever I visit the bay area. What I like is the elevator now has the swipe card feature which also functions as your room key. No more inserting a key in the key hole to the rooms. That's very convenient. Good service from Arnold, Moji, and other staff at the front desk at Orange Village. Maria from room service was polite and helpful as well. Keep up the good work everyone.
Outside the hostel could be a bit cleaner. Washing the side walk with a pressure hose in front of the building would be a good idea and definitely add a whole lot to the the view of the hostel.

I live in Dallas and went on vacation to San Francisco. I saw the place online and I really liked it and I chose it. I have no complaints except a problem with a tenant who was a disaster m. They threw him out of a room and unfortunately he got to mine, which was 509, he didn't let me sleep, he smoked inside the room, he turned on the lights all the time, he went out and left the door open and came back after a while 🤷🏻♂️A That day I went out to see the city and when I arrived at night my towel was wet because that same person used it, I went down to reception and told the hostel staff and they couldn't change me and they gave me another towel that same night. the same I could not sleep at all !! I had to get up at 6am to go to the airport, I went down to reception again to file the complaint and it turns out that the person who was in my room had been kicked out of three different rooms from the same hostel, the boy left and suddenly he was outside the hostel fighting with one of the homeless. person like that can't be in hostels
The person who was in my bedroom. it was total chaos

Our room was in the fifth floor and facing the road. The room was quite spacious compared to another room we seen on the back part of the building. It was very clean and had good amenities. The breakfast was good. We can make waffles. The staff were helpful. Moreover, we could sent a package to the hostel address and then took it from the receptionist.
The surrounding areas were full of homeless people though they didn't disturb us whenever we went out. The composition of the waffle dough was varied every day so it got burn faster when it was too thick. The dryer caused our clothes smelt bad like it got burn. We added 1 extra day to stay in the same room, but unfortunately the information didn't go through the cleaning service staff. They knocked our door 2 times asking us to check out though there was don't disturb sign hanging on our door. We talked to the receptionist and they said that on the system it was fine maybe the cleaning staff just wanted to make sure because a lot of people check out on that day. It was a very unpleasant experience.

We were so very pleased with everything: for the $s value, location to tour bus and cable car pickups, self-serve breakfast selections and portions, room & bathroom and amenities (microwave & refrigerator), single beds, closet, enough electrical outlets for recharging battery devices, elevator, front desk clerks' helpfulness and 24 hrs availability, window that opened for fresh air, quiet for sleeping and street traffic noise satisfactory. I will come again for sure.

Excellent location, in the core of the city. Because of APEC meetings, the only problem -lots of homeless people around- was gone. My kind of room is the best in the hostel and I like it very much. The fridge, the microwave, the bed and the windows are good assets. The hostel is very well organized. It is very clean and well kept.
The bath itself is small. I appreciate that it serves breakfast, but it should be healthier. Even though it is so well organized, employees sometimes do not know about issues they should.
