The Pickwick Hotel San Francisco

I liked the location and the look of the hotel. The hotel is close to so many attractions. The parking garage built into the hotel made it so much easier for our arrival and departure. The double room we stayed was small yet effective. The bathroom was so tiny, I wonder how very large people feel in it. The check-in and -out process was simple and quick. The key-card access elevator helped to assure me that I was in a safe and monitored place.

The bathroom was so tiny that I wonder how very large people feel in it. Plus no fan in the bathroom made things very steamy and wet, which made drying off a bit challenging.

I liked that it was right next to Union Square, which was very convenient. It was also located next to multiple bus stops, and the subway.

The hotel experience was fine, except its age was definitely showing. I think they could upgrade the rooms to make it an even better experience for the guest.

Everything was great about the hotel, close to a great Mediterranean spot. Good staff and facilities. Affordable. beautiful hotel!

The location was pretty bad due to the area. Many homeless. The hotel is just in a bad spot of town. Doesn't feel too safe just roaming around the hotel. BUT if you go up where the trolley is, and start walking up that long hill there is little to none!!!! Take ubers and walk in the tourist areas like fishermans wharf. If u want to walk without a worry!

The hotel was situated right in Union Square near the mall and other stores for shopping. The cable cars were one block away. Many restaurants in walking distance. Because it’s an older hotel (1929) the walls are not thin and very quiet at night. Loved that the windows opened to allow fresh air in.

Air conditioner and shower were difficult to figure out how to use at first. Several homeless people outside which only bothered me at night coming and going.

Good location, 5 min from cable car to Pier 39. Shopping right next to the hotel. 10 min to Union Square. Very friendly reception, helpful manager on duty. Parking practical just under the hotel, but pricy but similar to other options. Could get car at anyntime. Rooms were clean, decent. Fridge was turned off, but service person fixed it within 5 min. Teen kids appreciated the small training room.

Traffic noise, but acceptable. Somewhat dated, but OK.

Was able to extend our stay at a good price. Reception staff always helpful and assisted me to get theatre tickets printed as I was having internet issues. Ended up extending an extra week and gave us suggestions of activities to do... eg a baseball game, tour to Yosemite NP, tour to alcatraz.

All good. Area was on the edge of the homeless district, but there was never an issue. However had I needed to walk by myself at night time, think I would feel a little unsafe. We did walk at night together and a bit scary but incident free. So many homeless, but no aggression shown.

This is an older hotel that has been renovated to meet modern standards, while preserving some of its older styling that sets it apart from staying in one of the chain hotels nearby. The location is great, just a few blocks away from Union Square. We were told that the hotel will soon see renovation.

The room was not particularly clean, it seemed - one night, only decaf coffee was left in the room and, when we asked for caffeinated coffee, we were told they were out of it. A bit later, they came by with a few caffeinated coffee pods. The area seemed not entirely safe, walking around at night.

Superb location, 200 meters from Powell St BART. Great room, excellent customer service. We had a lay over and this hotel was perfect for our needs, central, clean, helpful staff. Already a generous check out time of 12 midday, we were able to have a late check out at 1pm, and then store our bags until later. From the airport, it was an easy BART ride to the Powell st stop. Loved the old style vibe of this hotel. Highly recommend and will definitely return. The staff here know how to look after their customers.
